You’ve all heard about the dog days of summer in baseball, and if there were a name for it in basketball, like cat days of winter, well, we’d be in that stage right about meow… But alas, there is something that helps us get through this, and that’s the hot stove heater portion of the season has arrived as well. Which is a perfect segue into the first opening salvo of the NBA trade season opening, and that was *checks notes* Trae Young for… CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert? And that’s it?
While realizing that Atlanta basically turned Luka Doncic into what is essentially the corpse of Cam Reddish along with the aforementioned McCollum and Kispert, kinda makes you wonder how maybe executives like Nico Harrison exist. Look, I personally think the Hawks ended up building a team that could offset Trae’s limitations, but it just turns out that the team created plays even better without him anyways. While Young represents a great buy-low piece, simply because the dude is elite on the other end of the floor, the Wizards don’t want that right now. The tank will be hard and Trae’s playing time, even after the ankle injury fully heals, will be dictated by that. Regardless, McCollum was quietly having a strong year and I think he’s value only increases going to the Hawks and Kispert, depending on his health, is an interesting back of the bench piece.
Here are your Week 12 Rankings!
*Note: FantasyPros system is currently frozen upon this publish and rankings are still not updating. We hope this will be corrected soon*
What are my rankings bona fidas? Well, there’s finishing in the FantasyPros Fantasy Football Top-10 Draft Accuracy (7th Place) in 2017, Top-25 Weekly Accuracy (23rd Place) in 2017, Top-5 Draft Accuracy (3rd place) in 2016, Top-10 Weekly Accuracy (10th Place) in 2016, Top-25 Weekly Accuracy in 2015 (21st Place) and on average we’ve finished in the Top-10 Draft Accuracy (9th Overall) and the Top-20 Weekly Accuracy (18th Overall) from 2014-2018. And this is out of over 100+ industry sites and experts’ year-after-year. Even though it’s the wrong sport, I’d like to think we’re pretty good at this stuff…
What does the word bona fidas mean? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, bo·na fi·des ˌbō-nə-ˈfī-ˌdēz , ÷ˈbō-nə-ˌfīdz means 1 : good faith : sincerity, 2 : the fact of being genuine —often plural in construction, 3 : evidence of one’s good faith or genuineness —often plural in construction, 4 : evidence of one’s qualifications or achievements —often plural in construction. On a separate note, I think it would make a great name for a cat.
What’s my ranking process? I’ve actually written about this in the past, and instead of working hard for new and enlightening content, I have chosen the more efficient (lazy, ahem) method and dropping in a link to that post here. Honestly, my process hasn’t changed much at all (the ole “don’t fix what ain’t broke” proverb comes to mind) and so my “A Day in the Life of a Fantasy Football Ranker” story still remains relevant to this day and now for Fantasy Basketball!
How should I use your rankings? The same way your mother does. Which actually makes no sense. (Unless your mother is in the running to always finishes top-3 in your Fantasy Basketball league. And if that’s the case, say hello to her for me.)

JAY,
I fucking Kia you not. I went to the Lakers Bucks hame and said:
It’s 96-94 in the fourth. I said this:
“Let me seeeeeee, Myles Turners line is 5 points on 40% shooting with 5 rebounds, no assists, a few turnovers and maybe a block”
His line is the following:
5 points 2-5 shooting, 1-3 3PT 0-0 FT
5 rebounds 0 assists 3 TO’s 0 stocks
I am high on him every year, the YEAR I draft him he’s not even worth owning. WTF, that’s insane I predicted that.
Oh, I’ve never been high on KAT, same thing, why didn’t use a 1st round pick on him.
And my opponents never have bad days. I get outplayed by Ajay Williams and Cam Spencer. Unreal Jay.
