Every Saturday, I will update the below Google sheet. It will show the upcoming schedule for all teams with color-coding for pace rankings. RED = slowest. YELLOW = middle of the pack. GREEN = fastest. Pace is the number of possessions a team has per game. More possessions increase the chances of more fantasy goodies. The data I use for pace, which is year-to-date, is from ESPN. I also want to give a shoutout to Hashtag Basketball, as their schedule grid is fantastic and allowed me to save time by not having to look at each team’s schedule. Good luck next week!

With this team in a 12 team league, 9 cats, would you rather cut Rose, Ibaka or Bazley?

    Dame, CP3, VanVleet, McConnell
    Melton, Tate, Smart
    Tatum, Bazley,
    Horford, JJJ, PJ Wash
    Myles, Ibaka
    IR: B Lopez

      Ibaka

      • JC says:
        (link)

Thanks. I put a claim in for rose dropping Ibaka. I thought you might cut bazley given his shooting % issues. But he gets minutes

        • Son

          Son says:
          (link)

          Yeah, minutes are king

  2. JC says:
    (link)

I missed on Rose so kept Ibaka in my lineup. Lost points by two. And so it goes….

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

Indeed. It’s a marathon. There will be plenty of opportunities

  3. Cohen says:

With Sexton out i could use 3 s and ptsp
    Rubio or Poole?

    Hii Son,

    My team :
    lowry, devonte, smart, melton
    tobias, middleton, bojan, bogbog
    AD, ayton, KP

Would you drop anyone of my team for waiver ?? h2h, 9cat, 14 teams

    Waiver list: barton,batum,royce,monte,dort,plumlee,ingles

    Thanks

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

      probably barton for bojan

  5. JC says:
    (link)

Have both PJ Wash and B Lopez out. PJ won’t even be evaluated for another week. Brooke? Who knows. I am patient so losing a few cats this week is not an issue.
I am 14-13 in a 12 team, h2h league. Nine cats. One IR spot. Team below:
Try to hold both and tough it out or cut bait on one?
WW options: RoCo, Zubac, Bane, Sengun, Vassell

    CP3, VanVleet, Dane, McConnell
    Smart, Melton,
    Tatum, Bazley, Tate
    Horford, JJJ, PJ
    Myles
    One streamer spot
    IR: Lopez

    • JC says:
      (link)

Dame not Dane although he has been playing like a Great Dane

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

I’m good with Bane or Vassell for PJ

  6. JC says:
    (link)

    Well, this check-in finds my team in 7th pace in a 12 teamer, h2h, 9 cat league. The good news is I take the long view building toward the playoffs and have already played the top two teams. So the schedule flips in my favor now but my team is going through a patch of injuries. Here’s the team and top WW options;

Dame (out), VanVleet (DTD), McConnell, CP3
    Smart, Melton, Bane,
    Tatum, Bazley, Tate
JJJ, Horford (DTD), PJ Wash (out),
    Myles
    IR: BLopez
WW: Simons, RoCo, K Hayes, A Gordon, Dragic, Little

I imagine Dame’s situation may dictate my next steps. If he’s out a week or so, fine. But if he, BLo and PJ are out longer term, I may need to drop the last two guys to field a decent team. So given that, what would you do?

  7. Cohen says:
    (link)

    Need 3s and pts
    Pick 2 please?
    Carmelo,Poole,Grayson Allen

    • Son

      Poole and Allen

  8. Luguentz says:
    (link)

Yo! Care to comment on my roster? Looks like I’m headed for a fourth consecutive loss, even though I’d have won my last matchup if any of my players would’ve had two more points – or drawn it, had they gotten just the one – and it looks like a 5-4 defeat again. Does the team itself look like a bunch of bums or should it be salvageable and is more to do with a number of bad starts? 12 team, 9 cat H2H.

    Fox Garland Conley DerrickWhite Smart
    OG Batum RoCo Vassell
    Draymond Olynyk
    KAT Nurkic Stewart

  9. Son

    Son says:
    (link)

You’ve got some underperformers right now in Fox, White, and Stewart. Plus, Olynyk is out. It sounds like you are barely losing so no need to panic

    • Luguentz says:
      (link)

Thanks! A quick waiver inquiry: would you drop Batum for Metu’s upside? Only alternative is Vassell and he looks like a breakout player himself, while Batum has of course had a very solid year to date

      • Son

        Son says:
        (link)

        Vassel

        • Luguentz says:
          (link)

Heh, both Batum and Vassell chucked up some goose eggs last night. Are you still a RoCo believer? I’m in that odd position where I don’t really want to drop any of the 3 but do want to pick up Metu. If Batum’s minutes are an implication of injury or w/e, that would make him the drop, but there’s no news of that either. And Covington is like nature in how he usually finds a way…

          • Son

            Son says:
            (link)

I’d rather have Batum and Vassell but, yes, I agree that if Batum’s injury is more serious than let on then he’d be the guy to go

            • Luguentz says:
              (link)

Doubtful for tomorrow. I’m assuming they want to play it safe

                  (link)

Probably trying your patience with this already, but where’d you draw the line for keeping/dropping? Already or keep tabs on whether he’ll miss any more? Or more of a question of whether potential replacements’ performances force my hand?

                  • Son

                    Son says:

Need to drop someone to activate Ayton in my 10 team, 9 cat H2H league. I added Caruso yesterday when Noel went out and was hoping for a revenge game.

I’m a bit hesitant since I need steals, but I’m PG heavy. So is Caruso the drop on this squad?

    Lillard
    Caruso
    Rubio
    Mikal Bridges
    Bogdan
    Harrison Barnes
    Sabonis
    Timelord
    Fox
    Brunson

    Dejounte Murray

    Noel – IR
    Ayton – IR

      • Joe says:

  12. JC says:
    (link)

Mixed Laker news for me. Horton Tucker was a terrific pick up. Made me feel smart for a day. LeBron was supposedly out for weeks and now back Friday???? These beat reporters are either terrible or being misled.

Lack of news on BLo is concerning. I am holding him and PJ Wash. PJ seems due back soon. But an older 7 footer like Lopez with a bad back is concerning. I am kinda partial to the twins since my son played with them in HS. Would you hold or drop him for one of Bane, Metu, Melton, Pat Conn, SloMo, Huerter or Rooster? I am in the middle of the pack in a 12 teamer.

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

I hear ya. THT should still get decent run, though. Let’s see how things shake out.

I’m concerned about Brook as well but I’m holding him in the league I have him. The combo that he provides from the big man position is tough to replicate

  13. Luguentz says:
    (link)

Yo! 5 cats on the line (and small margins separating two teams) with me holding the lead in FT%, 3PM and BLK and chasing TO and REB. Who’d you stream in an attempt to hold on? Opponent also has more players available.

Ibaka, Batum, Boucher, Burks available. Also the likes of Noel, DFS, Toppin, Precious but I’m not too enthusiastic about those.

    • Luguentz says:
      (link)

      Batum taken now

Hey Son – I have MPJ and Wiseman on my IL, with TimeLord and Mobley also injured (no more IL spots).

Are MPJ and/or Wiseman drops? 12 team H2H – I am 7 games over .500 but this week could get me down to .500 based on last weeks stats

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

I’m good with dropping wiseman. The MPJ news is concerning but I can’t drop him until something concrete is announced.

  15. Luguentz says:
    (link)

Hey Son – any point in trying the following trades? ESPN points, 18t:

    Bamba + Smart for Stewart
    or
Nurk, Bamba and Smart for Vuc + Giddey or Siakam + Giddey be worth an attempt?

I’m trying to cut solely C-eligible players down to a minimum (and wouldn’t mind the added possibility of a streaming spot) and also have Smart, Poole (sell-high?) and Tate as potentially expendable pieces. Looking for SF/PF, SG/SF, PF/C types to trade for, but I’m totally lost on who to even aim for. Bamba + Smart for Scottie was promptly shot down.

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

It really depends on the other owners and their roster construction. I try and communicate with the other owners to try and see what info I can glean from them. Who are their favorite players? What are they trying to accomplish? If there are no lines of communication, then try and put yourself in their shoes and see what you’d be willing to do if you had their squad and go from there. Send offers and try and get info that way.

      • Luguentz says:
        (link)

Yup. Since there are no ‘builds’ in points leagues, the things I try to gauge are dearth/excess of any positions, amount of players injured, and whether they have any expendable players (as my more-for-less type offers wouldn’t have any standing if the other team has no droppables). But my question was more along the grounds of whether I’d be giving up too much, too little or just about enough? Because I’m in a favourable position right now and would just like to tweak it slightly upwards; if I’m doing trades just to do trades and weakening my team in the process, then I could just stand pat

        • Son

          Son says:
          (link)

Gotcha. I’d explore the Siakam one. Depends on cost. Points leagues are pretty straight forward in terms of value so then it will come down to your positional desires

          • Luguentz says:
            (link)

So Nurk + Bamba + Smart for Siakam + Giddey? Or start off lower (just Bamba and Smart won’t cut it, but I can add Horford instead of Nurk) and take it from there?

            • Son

              Son says:
              (link)

              What are your league settings?

              • Luguentz says:
                (link)

Position wise: PG/SG/SF/PF/C/UTIL (one of each).

                Scoring wise:
                Field Goals Made (FGM)1
                Field Goals Missed (FGMI)-1
                Free Throws Made (FTM)1
                Free Throws Missed (FTMI)-1
                Three Pointers Made (3PM)1
                Three Pointers Missed (3PMI)-1
                Rebounds (REB)1
                Assists (AST)1
                Steals (STL)1
                Blocks (BLK)1
                Turnovers (TO)-1
                Ejections (EJ)-3
                Flagrant Fouls (FF)-1
                Technical Fouls (TF)-1
                Double Doubles (DD)1
                Triple Doubles (TD)2
                Points (PTS)1

                  Son says:
                  (link)

My sheet didn’t have 3pt missed, ejections, and fouls so you will have to manually gauge that yourself.

I’m good with the Nurk/Bamba swap for Siakam/Giddey. Who would you replace Smart with?

                  • Luguentz says:
                    (link)

Depends on who’s still there but currently I could go for Melton, Off-Night Mitchell, Poku, Hampton, Bones or Kira Lewis, perhaps.

                    • Luguentz says:
                      (link)

                      Also, thanks!

RE: the pick-up: also Lonnie Walker. No one currently must-roster perhaps, but I’d say the point lies more in just having the flexibility to bounce on potential openings and having that freedom, whereas a solid-but-middling last guy can turn into a hindrance instead of a benefit because of this

                    • Son

                      Son says:
                      (link)

From a numbers perspective, you’d be getting fewer points. But that’s without the numbers from the cats I didn’t have access to. Also, there is potential that needs to be factored in.

                    • Luguentz says:
                      (link)

Damn, one more thing for the three-peat: do you rank Siakam above Vuc in this format? Or is he rather just out of reach with the pieces at my disposal?

                    • Son

                      Son says:
                      (link)

I hear ya. Makes sense. Sometimes the numbers don’t tell the whole story. And sometimes the numbers are wrong!

  16. Luguentz says:
    (link)

Yeah, I’d also probably use the spot for more matches per week than just Smart alone would play.

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

Right. You’d stream that spot. If you get more points than smart then I’d do it

      • Luguentz says:
        (link)

Many thanks, giving it a go!

        • Son

          Son says:

          Anytime. Good luck!

          • Luguentz says:
            (link)

I’ve failed for now, however there’s another interesting development. Someone dropped Dinwiddie – would you drop anyone for him? I suppose Bamba is out of the question, Smart probably as well, so my weakest link would be Tate. FWIW it would weaken me at SF even more for now, but possibly yield a trade chip. If yes, I’d also need to figure how much out of a seasonal budget of 1000 bucks to shell out for Spence.

            • Son

              Son says:
              (link)

              Off with your head!!!

Yeah, I’d make a play for Dinwiddie. Smart is projected for significantly fewer points

  17. Luguentz says:
    (link)

ROS question: would you rather hold Vanderbilt or PJ Wash in 9 cat leagues? 12T. Not punting anything in particular

    • Son

      Son says:
      (link)

Depends. V will give more boards, steals, and fg%.
PJ will provide more points, tres, and ft%

      • Luguentz says:
        (link)

Thanks! I dilemma to be sure – I’m not even sure which I need more – I have the following. The frontcourt guys bar KAT are not scoring much though, and I am getting battered in points usually. BUT it’s still a question mark how much time and usage PJW can get if Plumlee plays again.

        Fox Garland Conley DerrickWhite Smart
        OG RoCo Vassell
        Draymond Vando Olynyk
        KAT Nurkic Stewart

        • Son

          Son says:
          (link)

Yeah, Plumlee is the big part of it. Trust your gut. It usually knows

          • Luguentz says:
            (link)

Understood! My gut, uhh, flipped the script. With OG taking up a roster spot but being ‘without a timetable’, would you keep Olynyk? My idea would be to put OG in IR and pick up PJ without dropping Vanderbilt in this scenario. Depends on whether I should hold onto Olynyk or not, not quite sure what his role will be in this mess of a Pistons team

            • Son

              Son says:

              • Luguentz says:
                (link)

Right! So seems like a rational move to drop him for now? Will go for it then, thanks
