I know, I know, we’re a little behind the 8-ball here.  YOU CAN’T RUSH MATH!  I think that’s something Russell Crowe yelled in A Beautiful Mind.  I actually just watched some of that the other day, and I swear his douchiness was the inspiration behind Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory.  Speaking of nerds, here’s a fully functional spreadsheet, sortable by Slim’s projection for the upcoming season!  They’re still sorted by my ranks, so obviously the projections have a little give-and-take with Slim’s thoughts vs. mine.  All you gotta do is click the category you want to sort by, and whizzbang!  Stats sorted by each cat are at your fingertips.  Including by age!  We all know how age-ist Slim is…  Big shout out to Rudy for helping us get these together!  Here’s our 2016-17 Razzball Top 200 Projections for the upcoming Fantasy Basketball Season:

# PLAYER Team Age POS FG% FT% 3P PTS RBS AST STL BLK TO MIN NOTES
Stephen Curry GS 30 PG/SG 0.495 0.900 4.2 27.5 4.7 6.9 2.0 0.2 3.1 32 My frequently used soundbyte now – Durant is a phenomenal player, Curry is a transcendent player. Curry will also be taking the ball up the court more. 3s with the FG% and the rest of the package keep him #1.
James Harden HOU 28 PG/SG/SF 0.440 0.865 3.0 29.5 6.0 7.3 1.7 0.6 4.4 38 D’Antoni?! Sign me up! TO will be out of control again, but so will the Pts/Ast as well as the flops for FT.
Russell Westbrook OKC 29 PG 0.435 0.820 1.4 28.5 8.1 9.7 2.1 0.2 4.4 34 Yup, with the contract solidified since I did the original top-10 article, I’m now flipping Westy to my 3rd besty. Crazy USG, will need to punt-TO and either punt or fix FG%.
Kevin Durant GS 29 SF/PF 0.520 0.880 2.2 25.5 6.8 4.8 1.0 1.0 2.9 32 These top 4 are so razor close that I have some major chafing going on. I still expect Durant to be amazing, it’s just we have 4 amazing players.
Karl-Anthony Towns MIN 22 C 0.540 0.800 0.6 21.0 11.0 3.0 0.8 1.9 2.4 36 Along with all the normal sexiness (Pts/FG%/Reb/Blk), he upped his Ast from 1.4 to 3.0 pre and post ASB in his rookie season. He’s unreal.
Chris Paul HOU 33 PG 0.465 0.880 1.8 19.0 4.1 10.2 1.9 0.1 2.4 32 After a rough start due in part to some early injuries, finished the bulk of the year going 20.3/4.4/10.5/2.1/0.2 with 2.6 TO and 46.4% shooting with 1.8 treys from his 17th game on. Another year fully entrenched as a first rounder.
Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL 23 PG/SG/SF 0.495 0.735 0.7 19.0 8.4 7.2 1.4 1.6 2.8 36 Over the last 26 games, Greek Freak went 18.8/8.4/7.5/1.5/1.9. Insanity! Shot 51.5% too. With Middleton gone, it adds more offensive onus on The Alphabet. I think it spells #8 value!
Hassan Whiteside MIA 29 C 0.600 0.730 0.0 19.5 14.0 0.5 0.7 3.5 1.9 32 Final 37 games, 3.9-5.4 FT good for 73.2%. On top of leading the league in blocks, if he hits his FT, he’s easily gonna be a first rounder. And no, this rank isn’t under the duress of an elbow to the noggin.
Anthony Davis NO 25 PF/C 0.505 0.780 0.7 23.5 10.1 1.8 1.3 2.4 1.9 34 If we knew Brow would play 75+ games I migggghhhht lean him over KAT, but we all know the risk. GET THE PELS NEW MEDICAL PEOPLE! Luckily it sounds like this kankle he got in preseason won’t cost him any time in the regular season, but man is it foreboding…
Kawhi Leonard SA 27 SG/SF 0.500 0.835 1.8 21.5 7.2 2.7 1.8 1.0 1.6 34 The metrics love him, most people agree maybe a smidge too much, and he still gets a little docked for not playing 80 games. But the multicat, huge steals, and great FG% improvement with more 3s can’t be overlooked.
LeBron James CLE 33 SF/PF 0.525 0.730 1.2 25.0 7.3 6.7 1.3 0.6 3.1 36 I feel like his dominant playoff run is clouding some judgment, as the Cavs are gonna coast harder than Usian Bolt in Olympic qualifiers. No need to push Bron, and the Cavs end with 3 games in the H2H semis and 4 in the finals, with back-to-backs in both. Might only get 4-5 games the pivotal final two weeks.
Kyle Lowry TOR 32 PG 0.425 0.810 2.5 20.5 4.5 6.6 1.6 0.2 2.8 36 Career highs in 3s, FT volume and minutes that have me believing he can be a rock. ‘Welcome to The Rock!’ [in Sean Connery’s voice]
John Wall WAS 27 PG 0.425 0.790 1.4 20.0 5.1 10.5 1.8 0.7 3.8 36 Slim hates me for having Lowry ahead, these two are pretty close to a coin flip. Not liking the bad FG% for a low-3s guy or the FT trending down last 3 seasons.
Paul Millsap DEN 33 SF/PF 0.470 0.760 1.0 18.0 9.2 3.4 1.6 1.2 2.3 32 More perimeter touches with Dwight clogging the lane, such an underrated commodity.
Paul George OKC 28 SG/SF 0.415 0.850 2.3 22.5 6.8 3.8 1.8 0.3 3.0 34 Hard not to root for the guy bouncing back from the bad injury; played 81 games last year, set a huge career best in FT volume, and this is going to be a ridiculously paced team. Living up to the IND name!
DeMarcus Cousins NO 27 PF/C 0.460 0.730 1.0 27.0 12.1 3.6 1.5 1.4 4.0 34 Missed 40 games the past two seasons, FT% came crumbling down around a huge volume, and without Rondo, look for Boogie to turn it over like the good ol’ days as well. Not close to a first-rounder for me anymore.
Draymond Green GS 28 SF/PF 0.485 0.710 1.1 12.5 9.8 6.7 1.6 1.4 2.8 34 Takes a slight nudge down to the nards with the GSW Dream Team assemblage, but he should still be the same #Occupy we know and love, but could no longer bear children with…
Kemba Walker CHA 28 PG 0.425 0.840 2.0 20.0 4.1 5.2 1.6 0.5 2.2 36 Breakout season from the Huskie, boosted the FG%, boosted the FT volume, and brings a very interesting skill set for only 2ish TO per.
Damian Lillard POR 27 PG 0.425 0.880 3.2 25.5 4.0 6.6 1.0 0.3 3.1 36 I really hate the lack of steals and the high TO when compared to Kemba. I can make up the other stats on ThrAGNOF!
DeAndre Jordan LAC 29 C 0.700 0.430 0.0 12.0 13.5 1.0 0.7 2.2 1.3 34 4/5/3 playoff sched from a guy that almost never misses games. FT-punt is giving me a lot more interest after seeing DJ came out at 3rd overall when you take out FT% last year. Two cats in the bank for the quarters and semis of the H2H playoffs.
Andre Drummond DET 24 C 0.530 0.380 0.0 17.5 14.7 0.8 1.4 1.7 2.0 34 Still emerging, love his post game, but I like DJ’s playoff sched and blocks a smidge more.
Brook Lopez LAL 30 C 0.505 0.790 0.0 20.5 7.6 1.7 0.6 1.7 2.3 32 Injury risk seems to be by the wayside, but Ol’ Clownfoot is on an ugly Nets team on a fairly-friendly contract. Got shut down last year. A trade at the deadline would hurt.
Kristaps Porzingis NY 22 PF/C 0.445 0.825 1.6 17.0 8.5 1.5 0.8 2.3 2.0 32 The Posion Goose! Only rookie to score more than 1,000 points, grab 500-plus rebounds, make 75-plus 3-pointers and block more than a 100 shots. USG may hurt next to Melo/Rose, but he’ll still get his, and get dem swats on top of everything.
Al Horford BOS 32 PF/C 0.505 0.785 0.9 15.5 7.8 3.2 0.8 1.4 1.4 32 The way B-Rad runs rotations, I’m a little worried about the minutes being 29-30. Slim has more faith. His game is suited for a long career, but I worry about some early Boston meshing as well.
Blake Griffin LAC 29 PF/C 0.505 0.730 0.2 21.5 8.2 4.7 0.8 0.5 2.3 34 Disaster 15-16, but BG is playing for a contract (he’ll likely get max either way, but ya know) and I think bounces back fine, as long as you’re not on the Clip staff and clown him at dinner.
Eric Bledsoe MIL 28 PG/SG 0.445 0.800 1.4 19.5 4.2 6.0 1.6 0.5 3.4 32 Was looking great with my high rank of him last year, but those effin injuries… Risky, but did play 81 games sandwiched between the injury-plagued seasons. Had the meniscus surgery that takes longer to recover from so you can play at peak level, so I still see that big upside there.
Jimmy Butler MIN 28 SG/SF 0.460 0.830 1.0 18.5 5.3 5.8 1.6 0.5 2.0 36 67 games or fewer in the past 3 seasons, and now has USG hogs Wade and Rondo to ruin possessions rather than Rose. 2 is worse than 1… Still should be his team and a solid value though.
Victor Oladipo IND 26 PG/SG 0.450 0.825 1.5 19.0 5.1 4.2 1.8 0.8 2.6 36 I’m warming more and more on the player, but I really don’t love this situation. I’m confused as to why changing your running mate from Elfrid Payton to Westbrook is a GOOD thing, and not like OKC is too shabby compared to ORL everywhere else. I don’t trust the 3s and I think he could be overdrafted.
Kyrie Irving BOS 26 PG/SG 0.455 0.870 1.8 20.5 3.1 5.1 1.2 0.3 2.4 34 Looking at 15-16 seasonal numbers might be a turnoff, but he was eased in off the knee injury. Post-ASB and that final Finals shot is a turn ON though! What can Uncle Drew do for YOU?!
Rudy Gobert UTA 26 C 0.580 0.600 0.0 10.5 11.3 1.6 0.8 2.5 1.8 32 Monsieur Elbow was Le Poo last year, that’s for sure! FIBA ball apparently ruined his conditioning, and he tore his knee at one point. But he bounced back quick from injury – good to see for a big – and still has elite big man skills. Nice fallback FT-punt option.
LaMarcus Aldridge SA 32 PF/C 0.495 0.845 0.0 18.5 8.6 1.6 0.5 0.9 1.4 30 Slim dislikes Aldridge with a Patrick Patterson-esque fury, but LA was 9th in per-game last year the final 31 games, and scores with a big volume of great FG% with virtually no TO. Being on the old Spurs is annoying though…
Isaiah Thomas CLE 29 PG 0.425 0.870 2.0 21.5 2.8 6.0 1.0 0.1 2.7 32 37th overall finish last year, but mostly due to low REB and bad FG%. Makes him a beautiful fit in a punt-FT, if you loaded up on the big boys early.
Gorgui Dieng MIN 28 PF/C 0.515 0.810 0.2 12.0 7.8 2.2 1.1 1.6 1.8 30 Choo Choo! Who’s with me on the hype train?! Through games 14-82 – 10.8/7.5/2.0/1.1/1.2 with 53.9% from the field and 82.6 FT%. That was only in 28:30 MPG and not starting half those games. I think Slim is a little light on the projection with upside to play huge minutes for Tibby Tibs.
Carmelo Anthony OKC 34 SF/PF 0.440 0.820 1.6 20.5 7.4 3.9 0.9 0.4 2.3 34 With the facilitating ineptitude of Rose and coming off a career high in dimes, I could see Melo be a sneaky 5.0 AST source. We know scoring will be there with bleh peripheral stats, but me likey if his name value sours his ADP too much.
Kevin Love CLE 29 PF/C 0.435 0.820 2.2 16.5 10.0 2.5 0.7 0.5 1.8 32 Small steps up in per-minute stats, Love has gone from injury-plagued first rounder to low-upside mid-rounder. Might make your leaguemates fall asleep with this pick.
Serge Ibaka TOR 28 PF/C 0.475 0.765 1.3 15.0 7.5 0.9 0.5 2.1 1.6 32 Blocks dropping, turning into a jump shooter that is hurting FG%… He was clearly out of my top-50 pre-trade, but has some great upside for an expanded offensive role in ORL.
Derrick Favors UTA 26 PF/C 0.510 0.715 0.0 16.5 8.3 1.6 1.0 1.7 1.7 32 Favors would be 10 higher if not for back-to-back seasons with back-to-back spasms. Also the blocks didn’t come along like we thought… Love his game, hate the risk.
C.J. McCollum POR 26 PG/SG 0.440 0.830 2.4 20.0 3.1 4.2 1.1 0.2 2.4 34 Yikes my anti-McCollum 15-16 calls didn’t go well! I don’t know if he has any more upside, unless he can get to 1.5+ steals.
Pau Gasol SA 37 PF/C 0.480 0.795 0.2 16.0 9.5 3.4 0.4 1.6 1.9 30 Old and Spurs, go together like hangovers and carnival rides. You just have to build in a lot of regression, especially in minutes, but he can still be top-50 serviceable.
Jae Crowder CLE 27 SF/PF 0.440 0.790 1.7 14.0 5.0 1.9 1.6 0.4 1.1 32 The Boston Clam Crowder! Sexy 1.7 swipes from a forward and I don’t see a way he could finish much worse than the 32nd per-game 15-16 he had.
Klay Thompson GS 28 SG/SF 0.465 0.870 2.9 18.5 3.4 2.0 0.9 0.5 1.6 32 Takes the big hit amongst the Golden State Western All-Stars, and the D stats took a major step back last year as well. Back to being one of the NBA’s best ThrAGNOFs.
Chandler Parsons MEM 29 SF/PF 0.480 0.710 1.9 15.5 4.9 3.1 0.9 0.3 1.8 32 19.0/5.9/3.1/1.1/0.3 with an unreal 2.6 treys on 51.9% FG shooting his last 26 games. Yes, two straight seasons ending with knee issues, but I believe in Memphis believing in him. By the transitive property, I therefore believe in Parsons, even with the knee thing scaring me a little.
Ricky Rubio UTA 27 PG 0.380 0.830 0.9 11.0 4.5 8.9 2.1 0.1 2.7 32 Despite having constant critics (both Rubio himself AND to me, for my love for Rubio!) he played 76 games last year and had a top-50 season. Kris Dunn does look awesome, but until the Wolves finally trade Rubio, I think he’s at the end of the top-50 again.
Nikola Jokic DEN 23 PF/C 0.490 0.810 0.4 11.5 8.2 2.8 1.1 0.8 1.7 27 The love is starting to get strong for this one! In per-game/per-36 min stats, he was 13th in the NBA last year. And not like he played mop up minutes, he started a ton, just Mike Malone wouldn’t play him. Gives you a legit 9-cat impact, even though no one stat shines.
Goran Dragic MIA 32 PG/SG 0.485 0.765 1.2 18.5 3.7 6.7 1.1 0.2 2.6 34 17.3/4.6/6.7 post-ASB last year, with a lot more upside with Wade gone, despite the metrics not loving his game due to lack of STL/3s. His FG% makes him a great punt-FT fit though, and seeing how drafts are playing out and SOMEONE is punting FT by the 4th round, I am moving him snugly in my top-50.
Nicolas Batum CHA 29 SF/PF 0.435 0.845 1.9 15.0 5.9 5.7 1.0 0.5 3.0 34 A tad more upside for Frenchy with Lin gone, but he had a career-high in TO last year and always struggles in FG%, so those hurt him a tad.
Gordon Hayward BOS 28 SG/SF 0.440 0.820 1.8 20.0 5.0 4.2 1.3 0.4 2.6 36 FG%, AST, STL and BLK all dropped last year, and now they have a competent PG. Love the player, but couldn’t rank him any higher. The broken finger breaking out of the skin (ugh) will cost him a few weeks, and cost him a few spots in my ranks, but then I expect him to be fine.
Marc Gasol MEM 33 C 0.475 0.790 0.0 15.5 7.1 3.7 0.9 1.3 2.1 32 The bone in his foot he broke is a really tricky one for big men, and he couldn’t even run as of June 5th. There is confirmation there will be DNPs and minutes limits to open the season, but if he can stay healthy through winter, I expect his game to come back into form when you’re in the playoffs.
Nikola Vucevic ORL 27 PF/C 0.515 0.750 0.0 17.5 9.2 2.3 0.7 1.0 1.8 30 I thought I was going to be a smidge above consensus on Ibaka, but turns out I don’t want any part of the Magic frontcourt after all, especially Vuch. Any lapses on D, and Bis is gonna get the Business!
Mike Conley MEM 30 PG 0.430 0.840 1.5 15.5 2.8 5.6 1.2 0.2 1.6 32 Despite my hate on him last year (100% correct too!), I like him at about the same spot in 16-17 with an insane 6.1:1.5 AST:TO last season. Low TO from a PG fits a lot of builds, plus a good wing running mate in Parsons finally.
Dennis Schroder ATL 24 PG 0.420 0.795 1.4 14.5 3.9 6.1 1.2 0.1 3.3 30 Ich Liebe the German! Were’s Paul?! I need to be sure I spelled that right! Yes, the TO was bad in per-minute terms last year, but he had an offensively inept 2nd unit around him and he was trying to prove he’s a starter. I don’t think they get too out of control. Gonna score and dime like a Blitzkreig!
Jeff Teague MIN 30 PG 0.445 0.850 1.5 16.5 2.8 6.2 1.4 0.3 2.7 32 I know it looks lazy having these two back-to-back, but they’re sooooo close! Teague a little safer and will easily win STL, I just worry about how much rock he gets in that system.
D’Angelo Russell BKN 22 PG 0.420 0.750 1.9 16.0 3.6 5.2 1.3 0.1 2.9 32 While I keep calling him D Barksdale for a character in one of the most sophisticated shows ever made, D Russell is anything but. 1.6/3.3/1.2 in 3s/AST/STL in sub-30 minutes as a 19-yr-old is still mad intriguing, especially with no Kobe-USG-suck. Hopefully Russell can keep from doing something stupid.UP – Looks great in preseason, and there’s such a big opportunity here. Belongs firmly entrenched
Elfrid Payton ORL 24 PG 0.440 0.600 0.5 12.0 4.2 7.0 1.6 0.4 2.5 32 Get SKIIIIIILES!!! the F%*# outta here! Skiles even publicly said he didn’t think Elfrid was the PG of the future, and with a new system and a defensive-minded coach, I could see Elfrid getting off the Shelfrid and taking off.
Tobias Harris DET 25 SF/PF 0.470 0.810 1.2 17.0 6.2 2.5 0.8 0.5 1.3 34 So underrated. After getting traded to Motown, the numbers all boosted up – better FG%, 3+ PPG, more FT volume, more 3s, and a much better AST:TO that went from 2.0:1.6 in ORL to 2.6:1.1 in D-town. Full off-season with his new crew, and this could be an awesome, metrics-friendly season.
DeMar DeRozan TOR 28 SG/SF 0.445 0.845 0.5 23.0 4.4 4.0 1.0 0.2 2.2 36 My original blurb was too good – ‘Why I didn’t like DeRozan last year – Pts went down, AST:TO took a huge step back, treys down, FG% down, and a bad groin injury was the main reason he missed 22 games. Why I like DeRozan this year – Pts went back up (23.5 – career high), AST:TO took a huge step forward (4.0:2.2, ironically the exact same as in 13-14), treys up, FG% up, and he only missed 4 games.’
Brandon Knight PHO 26 PG/SG 0.415 0.835 2.0 18.5 3.8 4.6 1.1 0.2 3.0 34 Apparently this rank still prices me in, but I love the high-output 3s with the AST contribution – easy to miss the 5.1 AST he brings amongst some other warts, mainly FG%…
Evan Fournier ORL 25 SG/SF 0.460 0.815 2.1 19.0 2.9 3.3 1.3 0.1 1.9 34 The Virgin! Also, don’t google what his last name means. Posted a career year going 15.4/2.8/2.7/1.2/0.0 with 2 treys a game and only 1.7 TO, and had some assist-binges as well, diming 3.7/per in April. No Dipo will mean more usage, and they desperately need his scoring!
Darren Collison IND 30 PG 0.470 0.860 1.2 15.0 2.8 6.5 1.4 0.1 2.5 36 I used to love his fantasy-friendly game as a PG with low TO, but now I hate his character. I like to cheer for my fantasy teams, and that’s tough to do with Colly. ‘Only’ an 8-game suspension keeps him a pretty solid mid-round pick though…
Jonas Valanciunas TOR 26 C 0.565 0.765 0.0 14.0 9.3 0.8 0.4 1.4 1.5 28 The Luminescent Lithuanian’s per-game fantasy rank always looks purdy next to his MPG, but given an injury history, I don’t automatically think no Biyombo = 30+ MPG. I like him, don’t get me wrong! But I don’t have that Canadian love…
Marcin Gortat WAS 34 C 0.565 0.700 0.0 12.0 9.2 1.2 0.5 1.2 1.4 28 The Ten Foot Pole is about to be an Eleven Year Pro, but that ain’t stopping me! He’s finished in the top-50 in the past few seasons – yes it’s metrics-whoreish – but even with a few less MPG, I think this is good value.
Jusuf Nurkic POR 23 C 0.460 0.650 0.0 14.0 8.8 1.6 1.0 1.9 2.2 28 In 17 MPG, Jamba Jus got to 1.4 BLK, 0.8 STL and has some really underrated playmaking ability as a post-passer. I think his %s take big hikes up, and even if he’s only at 24-25 MPG, I think can be a win at this rank.
Bradley Beal WAS 25 SG 0.440 0.780 1.9 17.5 3.5 3.0 1.0 0.2 2.0 32 I actually might have some Beal shares this year, with some confidence in that the Wizards have faith his leg injury issues are behind him – hell, it’s THEIR medical staff that know him better than anyone! So if they had doubts, I suspect they wouldn’t have dropped all dat ca$h.
Rudy Gay SA 31 SF/PF 0.455 0.785 1.0 17.5 6.4 2.3 1.3 0.6 2.3 34 Gay only scores. Despite the real-life basketball metrics hating him though, he was 46th last year despite dropping from 3.7 to 1.7 dimes with Rondo hawgin’ it. No Rondo, mo’ dimes! But this is looking like a messier and messier divorce, with Gay publicly putting out there he’s opting out next year. Virtually any trade is going to hurt, plus he has to deal with internal strife for however long he
Danilo Gallinari LAC 29 SF 0.415 0.860 1.8 17.5 5.0 2.3 0.7 0.3 1.4 32 Uggghhhhh, Gallo! Why can’t you stay healthy! A big sleeper of mine last year was working out pretty well until a kankle. He’s major trade bait, but I still love his game.
Trevor Ariza HOU 33 SG/SF 0.410 0.790 2.4 13.0 5.2 2.5 1.9 0.3 1.5 36 He fits certain builds REALLY well, and like Gortat is a metrics-friendly finisher every year, but I don’t think the D’Antoni effect really impacts Ariza as much. The ups and downs in FG% can crush you, unless you’re outright punting FG%.
Jeremy Lin BKN 29 PG/SG 0.415 0.810 1.3 14.0 3.3 6.3 1.2 0.6 2.4 32 Had a great 15-16 in FT volume and a career-low TO rate, and joins a team in desperate need of playmaking. And cool hair.UP – Check out our H2H Playoff Schedule post, love their schedule down the stretch, and he’s going to have such freedom to be a USG whore.
Rajon Rondo NO 32 PG 0.450 0.590 0.8 10.5 5.8 8.4 1.8 0.1 2.9 32 Speaking of needing to punt stuff! Yes, AST and STL were great last year, but expect major hits in dimes next to Wade and Butler. Might be closer to DAL stats than SAC stats…
Andrew Wiggins MIN 23 SG/SF 0.475 0.785 1.0 21.5 3.7 2.4 1.2 0.7 2.1 36 Obviously needs to make improvements, but at least he’s durable! Big scoring sources aren’t too plentiful past here.
Myles Turner IND 22 PF/C 0.465 0.765 0.3 12.5 6.9 1.0 0.7 2.1 1.8 28 From game 41-82, i.e. the “legit” 2nd half of the season, he went 12.2/6.4/0.9/0.5/1.7 in 26.6 MPG, shooting 49.7% from the field, 73.9% from the stripe, and only committing 1.4 TO. Seasonal numbers get jacked up due to low minutes out of the gate and coming off the broken thumb prior to this run.
Dwyane Wade CLE 36 PG/SG 0.460 0.780 0.1 18.0 3.8 3.6 1.0 0.4 1.9 30 Rondo is a TO-vortex! We might get a little fix there, along with good scoring and some wing dimes. But ya know, for 65 games…
Zach LaVine CHI 23 PG/SG 0.445 0.785 1.7 16.5 2.8 3.1 1.0 0.2 1.8 32 As a starter, was unreal for 17.3/2.8/3.2/1.1/0.2 in 33 games, including 2.4 treys at an absurd 47.4% clip from the field overall. I don’t know if that % is fully replicable, but heavy treys without killing your FG% should fit some FT punt builds.
Dirk Nowitzki DAL 40 PF/C 0.450 0.890 1.6 17.5 6.0 1.8 0.6 0.5 1.1 30 I’m glad I’m including ages, because that explains the only reason why The Gerimator is this low. He stands the test of time, but we’ll see if he can hold up another full NBA season.
George Hill SAC 32 PG/SG 0.440 0.790 1.7 12.0 3.8 3.8 1.0 0.2 1.3 32 Provides 5ish dimes with a minuscule TO rate, with just an overall non-killing game in %s and TO. LET ME SEE THAT THONG!
Aaron Gordon ORL 22 SF/PF 0.470 0.655 0.8 13.5 8.3 2.7 1.1 0.8 1.7 32 Vogel – ‘I’ma use A-Gord like P-George!’ Me – erection.
Nerlens Noel DAL 24 PF/C 0.510 0.600 0.0 11.5 8.0 1.9 1.8 1.5 2.0 28 Still the allure of 2/2 STL/BLK! Sixers keep saying one of the bigs will be gone – make a deal already! Now I’m feeling more and more worried about playing time with Embiid feeling like the true bedrock player of the franchise up front, and then Noel hurts his groin and is unlikely to be healthy to start the season. Gulp.
Robert Covington PHI 27 SF/PF 0.390 0.795 2.4 12.5 5.4 1.5 1.4 0.5 2.0 28 FG% remains a big issue, but his post-ASB got to 31:10 MPG with an absurd 3.3 treys and gorgeous 15.6/7.0/1.5/1.5/0.6 slash. Another strong fit for FG% punt.
Kent Bazemore ATL 29 SG/SF 0.440 0.795 1.7 13.0 5.0 2.6 1.3 0.5 2.0 30 Fell off a smidge last year as the minutes I think caught up to him a bit, but he offers a very sexy metrics-friendly game, and could be a huge get if he can maintain across 82 games.
Avery Bradley DET 27 PG/SG 0.445 0.790 1.9 15.0 3.0 2.2 1.4 0.3 1.4 34 Career highs in STL, PTS and 3s, with a nice FG% for a high-end ThrAGNOF.
Jordan Clarkson LAL 26 PG/SG 0.440 0.815 1.6 16.5 4.0 3.6 1.1 0.1 1.8 32 Ugh, a tough whiff last year, but with Kobe’s USG gonzo, I could see him being George Hill-ish this year… No change with a bench role, maybe a few less minutes, but more dimes.
Enes Kanter NY 26 C 0.545 0.800 0.2 16.5 9.3 0.6 0.5 0.5 1.9 28 Anemic in AST/STL/BLK, the upside for a 20/10 season with a good FG% keeps him well ahead of the 100 range.
Wesley Matthews DAL 31 SG/SF 0.430 0.850 2.6 15.0 3.3 2.2 1.1 0.2 1.0 34 Even off the awful injury, played 78 games at 33:54 MPG in 15-16. Mark Cuban said Matthews couldn’t even dunk half of last year, but he’s apparently having a great, healthy offseason. A great unsexy name for sexy upside.
Devin Booker PHO 21 SG 0.435 0.845 1.6 13.0 2.6 2.1 0.7 0.3 1.8 28 Mannnnn I want to rank him higher and higher with the PJ Tucker injury news, but 0.6/0.3 STL/BLK with 2.6 AST last year, meh, and a lot came without Knight and Bledsoe off the floor. I think you have an extremely sexy, admittedly young and sexy, player that could be overreached for if you went much higher than here.
Luol Deng LAL 33 SF/PF 0.440 0.770 1.0 13.5 5.8 1.8 0.9 0.3 1.0 32 15.2/8.1/2.5/1.2/0.5 over the final 28 games, with 1.1 treys shooting 48.4% with only 1.4 TO. Yes – no Bosh – but it’s not like the Lakers have a murderers row up front. Another unsexy name that I think will fall too far.
Thaddeus Young IND 30 SF/PF 0.480 0.675 0.3 13.0 8.1 1.9 1.4 0.4 1.7 30 I think he’s going to be a little overdrafted, as his better numbers have come on awful PHI and BKN teams. I’m not quite sure how he’ll fit into the Pacers up-tempo system, as he’s likely the #5 option.
Monta Ellis PG/SG 0.430 0.780 1.1 14.5 3.2 4.2 1.9 0.3 2.4 34 HE’S STILL GETTING PAID ONLY $11 MIL A YEAR!? Readers last year get that one… 1.9 STL and 4.2 AST is what you’re drafting here, as any bounceback in scoring is tough to see with this new offense.
Ryan Anderson HOU 30 PF/C 0.430 0.870 2.4 17.5 6.2 1.0 0.5 0.3 1.5 30 Ryno, the ThraAGNOF bigman dyno! If you get 70 games of his 3PTM/C combo, you’re happy.
DeMarre Carroll BKN 31 SF/PF 0.450 0.720 1.8 12.0 5.3 1.6 1.4 0.2 1.1 32 In a limited sample due to injuries, 3PTM and STL were both career highs, At least all of his injury issues last year didn’t lead to some big surgery. I could see a nice big bounceback.
J.J. Redick PHI 34 SG 0.475 0.890 2.6 15.0 2.0 1.5 0.5 0.1 1.0 28 I don’t see the crazy high marks of 48% from the field again, 47.5% from deep, or scoring over 16 PPG with Blake back. ThrAGNOF!
Rodney Hood UTA 25 SG/SF 0.425 0.850 1.9 15.0 3.4 2.9 0.9 0.2 1.7 32 Loves – 2 treys and 2.2-2.5 FT for 86% freebie clip. Hates – 0.9/0.2 in Stl/Blk and 2.7:1.9 AST:TO. I worry the dimes and steals are a little overrated and he’s more ThrAGNOF than not, but I do still like him!
Emmanuel Mudiay DEN 22 PG 0.405 0.760 1.6 15.5 3.7 5.7 1.3 0.6 3.1 32 Makes the top 200 due to PG runs. Not that they have diarrhea, but you get it. Mudiay did finish 15-16 strong going 16.5/3.8/4.9/0.6/0.4 hitting 1.7 treys and shooting 40.8% (high for him) over the final 22 games, so there’s a little hope for minor-breakout potential.
Joakim Noah NY 33 PF/C 0.465 0.690 0.0 8.5 9.4 4.8 0.8 1.1 1.8 30 Goromotaro! I do like his upside for dimes continuing to play with Rose, but even if this is looking FANTASTIC through 20 games, I would sell immediately due to brittleness.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope LAL 25 SG 0.425 0.800 1.6 14.0 3.5 1.8 1.4 0.2 1.3 34 The KCP addiction remains STRONG! Well, I should say I’ve plateaued, now that his ADP is getting to where my rank is these days… About time!
Robin Lopez CHI 30 C 0.535 0.790 0.0 11.0 7.5 1.5 0.3 1.5 1.5 28 Worst player in basketball! He is what he is, a nice nab for big man depth in non-FT punt builds.
Greg Monroe PHO 28 PF/C 0.515 0.740 0.0 13.0 8.3 2.2 0.9 0.8 1.5 28 I have to rank him somewhere, although admittedly this hate might be going too far. I worry where he lands in an inevitable trade, as the Bucks hate him.
Justise Winslow MIA 22 SF/PF 0.445 0.730 0.8 12.5 7.9 2.7 1.2 0.8 1.7 34 I’m admittedly a little iffy with this rank, but the combo of 0.9 STL and only 1.2 TO as a rookie excites me, as well as an expanded role. FT% is a little bit of an issue, but I think he can surprise, especially if no Bosh.
Markieff Morris WAS 28 PF/C 0.465 0.760 0.8 13.5 6.0 1.8 1.0 0.6 1.8 30 FG% went WAY up even though he took more 3s, TO way down, and same STL/BLK after getting to the Wiz. Still only 27, with a full offseason with the new crew, there could be something here.
Jabari Parker MIL 23 SF/PF 0.490 0.770 0.3 19.5 6.3 2.2 1.1 0.3 2.1 36 An unreal 18.8/6.2/2.2/1.1/0.3 line over his last 29 games, which I originally felt was unrepeatable and blah without threes, but now without Duchess, there’s a legit shot he could push for 20 PPG. With the added rebounds and still some youthful upside, I thought I was a buyer, but apparently he’s being hyped hard in other rankings-sets. I’m not going TOO nuts for a guy who can score but had bad D
Jrue Holiday NO 28 PG 0.445 0.830 1.7 18.5 3.6 7.3 1.6 0.3 2.9 32 We wish he and his family the best, as he takes an indefinite period of time to be with the people that matter most. Hate to be callous, but in fantasy terms, I don’t think I want to invest in an uncertain amount of stat accrual.
Otto Porter WAS 25 SF 0.465 0.760 1.2 11.0 5.1 1.6 1.4 0.4 1.0 30 There are some rankings and pre-ranks that are out of control for Porter, who was barely ownable when Beal was on the court – he only spiked when Beal was hurt.
Derrick Rose CLE 29 PG 0.420 0.810 1.0 18.0 3.2 4.8 0.7 0.2 3.0 32 I had a little optimism he could be a little better than last year, but then his legal issue got more and more publicity, and he just doesn’t sound like a fun guy, regardless of the court’s ruling. I like to cheer for my fantasy teams, sue me!
Matt Barnes SF/PF 0.410 0.780 1.5 9.5 4.7 1.8 0.8 0.6 1.2 26 One of my favorite late round staples, Barnes follows Joerger – who apparently loves him – to SAC, where he is going to play both F positions. 1/1/1 3/STL/BLK gonna be tough to find any later!
Marvin Williams CHA 32 SF/PF 0.435 0.800 1.7 10.5 5.8 1.3 0.8 0.6 0.8 28 As metrics-whorey as it comes, with only 0.8 TO last year in a spread line. I don’t know if I buy 45+ FG% again or the 1.0 BLK though…
Jared Sullinger PF/C 0.440 0.725 0.7 13.5 8.2 2.6 1.0 0.7 1.4 28 The Raptors desperately need deep shooting from guys other than Lowry (and I guess Carroll), but at well under 30% from downtown in his career, I think it could get a little ugly, and I don’t think we see this huge 1+/1+ STL/BLK season either.
Dwight Howard CHA 32 PF/C 0.585 0.520 0.0 15.0 11.0 1.3 0.9 1.6 2.6 32 Obviously a fun FT punt asset if he lasts this long, but the TO issues, injury-proneness, and changing to another team worry me a smidge. I think the resurgence season last year was an anomaly to his career trends.
Will Barton DEN 27 SG/SF 0.430 0.790 1.0 12.0 4.9 2.1 0.8 0.4 1.6 26 People are being way too chill on Will the thrill! 5.8 REB, 2.5 AST, 0.9/0.5 STL/BLK, and 1.4 treys as ancillary stats to the scoring is nothing to sneeze at, and I think he gets a similar MPG role, even with everyone healthy and the new wing rooks.
Clint Capela HOU 24 PF/C 0.565 0.420 0.0 11.0 9.6 1.0 1.0 1.7 1.3 28 More D’Antoniiiii! Obviously a must-draft for FT punters; for other builds, the upside in Boards-n-Blocks is capped a little due to the drain.
Harrison Barnes DAL 26 SF/PF 0.445 0.755 1.4 15.0 5.2 1.8 0.8 0.2 1.5 32 Doesn’t hit enough treys or bring enough D-stats, but maybe can get to 18 or 19 a night in Big D.
Evan Turner POR 29 SG/SF 0.460 0.780 0.0 10.5 5.0 4.2 1.0 0.2 1.9 28 Both Turner’s AST and AST:TO took massive steps forward in Boston, but nothing else really jumps off the page. I imagine a similar role in POR.
Reggie Jackson DET 28 PG/SG 0.440 0.860 1.6 19.0 3.0 6.6 0.8 0.1 3.0 32 Brutal news that R-Jax ‘could’ miss 6-8 weeks with knee issues. It wouldn’t be the end of the world, but this is for knee tendinitis, and not off a surgery. So who knows if this lingers. I am hoping to steer clear, and nab Ish late to see what happens…
Marcus Morris BOS 28 SF/PF 0.440 0.750 1.3 13.0 4.9 2.3 0.8 0.3 1.7 34 Not flashy, but only has missed 3 games the last 3 seasons, and offers a nice well-rounded scoring boost.DOWN – I just keep not having him close to the top of my queue at my last rank at 100ish. Too boring.
Buddy Hield SAC 24 SG 0.400 0.820 2.2 14.5 4.4 2.3 1.0 0.2 2.3 34 Steals consistently went down in college and he shot 32.7% in Summer Ball, with only a 22.9% clip on treys. Small sample, but there’s going to be some big % waffles to his ThrAGNOF game.
Jahlil Okafor BKN 22 C 0.510 0.670 0.0 17.0 6.9 1.3 0.4 0.9 2.0 28 Surprised me as a rookie with over a block/per and a non-killing FT%, but I hate their big man mix and all the issues he had mostly off the court.
Ish Smith DET 30 PG 0.420 0.690 0.6 10.0 2.5 4.6 0.8 0.2 1.8 22 I admittedly waffle at times with the true ‘purpose’ of these ranks, but I am looking to draft Ish in the last 2 or 3 rounds in all drafts right now with the R-Jax news. Was previously effective as a starter on a bad team, now he starts for a good team. I think this start could be pretty epic, then you address when/if R-Jax is back.
Deron Williams PG 0.410 0.860 1.5 14.0 3.0 6.0 0.9 0.2 2.2 32 Limited upside, low D stats, low FG%, but is a PG who starts in the NBA and had 5.8 AST last season. We obviously can’t expect a full season either.
Mason Plumlee DEN 28 PF/C 0.525 0.635 0.0 10.0 7.8 3.0 0.8 0.8 2.0 26 4.8 dimes in the postseason, and shot 64.2% at the stripe which is a big step forward. Maybe he can be a sneaky C dimes source, and has played all 82 the past 2 years.
Matthew Dellavedova MIL 27 PG/SG 0.410 0.825 1.8 10.5 2.4 5.6 0.8 0.1 1.8 32 Mehhhh, yeah Middleton news does nothing for me here, maybe an extra 3 attempt happens a game from what we would’ve otherwise expected. Still going to be Giannis running the point.UP – Bucks dumping MCW shows complete and utter faith in Delly playing a huge role as the starting PG. Love the dimes in preseason.
Tim Frazier WAS 27 PG 0.415 0.745 0.6 12.0 4.1 6.8 1.0 0.1 2.5 28 With Jrue likely out a good stretch at the beginning of the season, Frazier is penciled in as your PG starter. Went 13.1/4.4/7.5/1.4/0.1 over the final 16 games last year! And not even all of that came as a starter! I’m tempering my expectations a tad because we just don’t know the Jrue game played this year.
Zach Randolph SAC 36 PF/C 0.475 0.775 0.0 15.5 7.9 2.2 0.6 0.2 1.6 30 We know about what we’ll get, and he barely turns it over, for a PTS/REB source I would buy at this point. Not too worried about a bench role, yeah maybe a few less minutes, but should be better per-36 against 2nd units.
Joel Embiid PHI 24 C 0.485 0.750 0.2 12.5 7.6 0.5 0.3 1.4 2.0 20 Only boosting him a little due to the Simmons news. Looked phenomenal in his first NBA action, but it was a short stint in an early preseason game. Let’s not get too crazy. They’re not going to play him big minutes, and still going to rest him on back-to-backs.UP – Aight, I’m buying in a little more. Looks great. And he’s so big! Hah.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson BKN 23 SG/SF 0.460 0.720 0.2 9.5 7.6 2.1 1.8 0.7 1.3 32 Had a 7.6/7.7/1.6/1.9/0.4 9 game stretch pre-injury, and BKN needs him to be their SG of the future.
Julius Randle LAL 23 PF 0.445 0.715 0.2 13.0 10.3 2.2 0.8 0.3 2.1 30 About as low-hyped as we could get for a guy who averaged a dubdub as a rook… FG% and lack of D stats hurt.
Danny Green SA 31 SG/SF 0.410 0.780 1.6 9.0 4.0 1.9 1.0 0.8 1.0 28 We saw how fickle metrics-whore guys can be – didn’t hit his 3s and it destroyed his value last year. Could bounce back a little.
Nikola Mirotic CHI 27 SF/PF 0.410 0.800 2.1 12.5 5.6 1.5 0.9 0.7 1.7 28 I’d be much more intrigued if they didn’t bring in Wade squeezing out SF minutes as I don’t think he’s a great fit at PF due to defensive issues.
Kyle Korver CLE 37 SG/SF 0.445 0.860 2.2 10.0 3.1 2.1 0.6 0.3 1.2 28 After shooting treys in the high-40%s for a long stretch, 39.9% last year. A healthy offseason instead of recovering from two surgeries including one on his elbow – I think a sneaky bounceback ThrAGNOF.
Josh Richardson MIA 24 SG/SF 0.445 0.700 1.7 12.5 3.2 2.5 1.1 0.9 1.2 30 I wasn’t fully buying into the hype, as he shot 53.3% from deep (!!!) in the second half last year during that huge run. I saw some regression coming …andddddd, he tears his knee in offseason workouts. Ugh! This is going to cost him an epicly important training camp and preseason, but I still have him on the fringe of draft-worthy as an IL slot, since RCL leagues have 2 IL spots.UP – Progressing
Bismack Biyombo ORL 25 PF/C 0.545 0.630 0.0 6.5 9.6 0.4 0.4 1.7 0.9 28 Not investing in the ORL frontcourt, but there’s obviously Boards-n-Blocks usability with your last pick or two here. Even if he’s coming off the bench, it should be for good minutes.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist CHA 24 SF 0.475 0.700 0.4 11.5 7.3 1.5 0.7 0.7 1.2 30 In his 6 full games before the [re]injury last year, he was a pretty saucy 13.5/7.0/1.2/0.3/0.5 shooting 52.6%. Sure a small sample, but he’s still really young and had big improvements the past two seasons. Just needs to keep those shoulders in those sockets!
Zaza Pachulia GS 34 C 0.460 0.780 0.0 8.0 6.9 1.7 0.7 0.2 1.5 24 Pizza arms! Up until Feb 19th in 15-16, he was 10/10.9/2/1/0.3 before they massively scaled back his minutes. Should fit a nice boarding need for the Golden State NBA All Stars of the West Warriors.
Steven Adams OKC 24 C 0.590 0.600 0.0 11.0 9.6 1.0 0.8 1.5 1.3 32 Despite low-volume, vastly improved his %s and AST:TO last year. I’m not sure the volume goes up a ton though, making him barely above the streaming class.
JaMychal Green MEM 28 PF 0.470 0.770 0.4 12.0 7.0 1.8 0.9 0.7 1.4 28 The Grizz lack A TON of depth up front, and he had a 16 game stretch in March of 12.6/7.4/2.3/0.9/0.8 in under 29 MPG. On non-Gasol nights, he could easily do that, and now it looks like he’s starting with Zach Randolph reportedly coming off the bench (which annoys the nuts outta me, I wanted to be on an island here!). Love the PT upside.
Al Jefferson IND 33 PF/C 0.485 0.660 0.0 12.0 6.5 1.6 0.5 0.9 0.8 24 Big Al has big tread on the big tires, but could easily go 11/6 with low TO for a backend big. But hopefully someone else in your league nabs him higher for name value 🙂
Kenneth Faried DEN 28 PF/C 0.545 0.645 0.0 12.0 8.6 1.1 0.5 0.8 1.3 24 You’re probably hoping for a trade to be honest… Even in a low MPG role out of the gate if he’s still in DEN, I think there’s enough for early-season ownership.
Alex Len PHO 25 PF/C 0.450 0.735 0.0 10.0 7.9 1.4 0.6 1.2 1.5 26 Only gets ranked here due to upside – he was a trainwreck when a starter last year, and projected to still come behind grandpa Tyson. More a stash-and-hope.
Tony Parker SA 36 PG 0.490 0.770 0.5 12.0 2.3 5.4 0.7 0.1 1.8 28 Interesting note – looks like Parker had his best AST:TO ratio of his career last year: 5.3:1.8. I know he’s old and not going to play a huge MPG or games played, but I found that intriguing as a final AST boost.
Al-Farouq Aminu POR 27 SF/PF 0.415 0.730 1.3 10.0 5.8 1.5 0.9 0.7 1.3 26 I don’t buy that a guy had a FG% of 41.6 – right where it was last year – while going from 1.7 to 4.3 treys attempted. 36.1% from deep seems like an epic fluke to me, and his ups and downs make him too annoying to own for me to invest.
Timofey Mozgov BKN 31 C 0.540 0.720 0.0 9.5 7.9 0.5 0.4 1.2 1.6 28 If he gets to 28 MPG, he could get 1.5 blocks and a few boards, but health has been an issue and I have no faith in the Lakers not to screw the pooch somehow.
Kris Dunn CHI 24 PG 0.435 0.700 0.5 11.5 2.3 4.2 1.3 0.3 2.3 26 Insane in Summer Ball, going 24/7/3/2/1 shooting 54.3% from the field and getting to the stripe for 15 freebies in only 2 games (due to a concussion). It’s tough to project HUGE playing time, but the counting stats could be sexy in a major combo guard role. %s and TO are an issue though, cough MCW…

Hey guys! Infrequent commenter but a loyal daily reader for years here putting the call out to Razzball nation.

Just had an owner drop from my 5th year keeper league at the last minute. We keep up to 8. 10 team h2h with 11-cat scoring (DD and FGMI added to standard 9-cat), $200 budget, 15 roster spots plus IR. The roster in question features some good value in a $21 Jimmy Butler, $25 Wiggins, $25 Love, $16 Howard, and $21 Beal, so it’s not a barren roster by any means. Our auction is Monday 10/24 11pm EST, so really soon.

Anyone interested in joining a highly competitive but affordable keeper league hit me up. This is only the third time an owner has dropped and we’re going into our 5th year, so we’re definitely a bunch of basketball junkies here!

Hello JB and may we have another great Razzball season,

Im on a H2H- 10team – 9CAT league and we just had our draft this morning. I was picking 8th out of 10. So here’s my team in the order that i drafted it :

    #8 Chris Paul
    #13 Hassan Whiteside
    #28 Kemba Walker
    #33 Kristaps Porzingis
    #48 Andrew Wiggins
    #53 Jae Crowder
    #68 Ricky Rubio
    #73 Marcin Gortat
    #88 Avery Bradley
    #93 Jusuf Nurkic
    #108 Robert Covington
    #113 Markieff Morris
    #128 Luol Deng

General thoughts on my team? What would you be looking to improve?

    Thanks in advance man!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tenethor: Hell yeah man, it’s almost here! I think your REB might be a tad low, meh actually if Deng and Kieff work out it should be fine. Wiggins was needed for PTS but I think PTS and maybe 3s are you lowest cats so I would be ThrAGNOF streaming for sure

  9. Yan Yala says:
    (link)

Hi JB and Slim, relatively new fantasy player here but of all the sites I’ve read for fantasy, this is my favorite, great job.

my league is a ESPN head to head, standard 9 categories BUT… instead of getting a point for each category you have highers stats, you only get 1 point for winning the majority of of categories. That makes me believe punting to solidify my strengths is extremely important. In my opinion I have a balanced team (not ideal)

    PG- Lowry, Jeremy Lin
    SG- Derozan, Fournier
    SF- Gay, Hollis-Jefferson, Parsons
    PF-Aldridge, Myles Turner
    C- Towns, Valanciunas,Jusuf Nurkic
    IR- Danny Green

Im already thinking about trading but which categories you think I should target based on my team? I just need to win 5 categories but dont want to trade and end up with a more balanced team

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Yan Yala: Hey man, awesome really appreciate that! Yup 100% with you, you’re def punting a few cats in that format. I think I might punt points and think about dealing DeRozan or Gay. You have pretty good %s, I dunno if your STL are that great so might look to shop RHJ too if he starts hot

    Nikola Jokic – $19
    Jonas Valanciunas – $13
    Gorgui Dieng – $11
    Goran Dragic – $21
    DeMarre Carroll – $1
    Kent Bazemore – $7
    Reggie Jackson – $2

@decaf: Love that buy of RJax! Ummmm, scoring is a little low, ast are def very very low. I’d look for a scoring PG, even someone blah like Derrick Rose would fit well

      • decaf says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah, I can see that. I lost my bid for Rubio by $1, otherwise my AST would have been fine. I figure I can trade one of my bigs for a PG early on. Who do you think is a good sell-high candidate among my PF/Cs?

Thanks as always, your site has been a huge help in draft preparation! ^_^

JB thanks for your time and your opinion in advance.

I drafted a few nights ago in a 12 team, 9-cat, H2H league as follows:
    1. #8 Antetokounmpo
    2. #17 Lowry
    3. #32 Jokic
    4. #41 M.Turner
    5. #56 Crowder
    6. #65 A.Bradley
    7. #80 A.Gordon
    8. #89 Embiid
    9. #104 Hollis-Jefferson
    10.#113 Bazemore
    11.#128 Noah
    12#137 E.Turner
    13.#152 Josh Richardson

Thoughts on my team? I think I overdrafted in a few places for my big men but I really wanted Jokic, Turner and Embiid and I thought all would of them would be gone if I waited for the next round. Anyway I feel like my team lacks assists and 3’s. I put Richardson on my IR already today and picked up Tim Frazier. I am contemplating dropping Evan Turner for either Seth Curry, Tyler Johnson or Jamal Murray. Also would you keep Richardson on IR or pick up another IR player such as Tyreke, Beverley or Bayless? Thanks again JB!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tony C: Yup I’m with ya, AST and 3s are light. Well, 3s aren’t that bad. Nah I think I would hold Turner for the dimes. Backend of your roster isn’t a ton of scorers, so I would look to stream scorer-types. Ummmm, nah I think I’m with ya in IL-ing J Rich

Hi Jb and Slim! First of all, just wanna say thank you for all the hardwork you put in doing these rankings, projections etc! It certainly helps all of us! Haha. Anyways, finished an auction draft few hours ago. 14 team league, 9 cat (FTM instead of TO). Any thoughts or opinion?

    Harden
    Danny Green
    Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
    Mudiay
    Parsons
    Porzingis
    Gallinari
    Kieff Morris
    Nurkic
    Hibbert
    KCP
    Deng
    Dellavedova
    Lou Will

FG% punt? I think i’m a little low on boards? Thanks in advance!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Matt G!: Thanks man, appreciate that! Man Harden is sooooo good in that format. Def a FG punt. Yeah you have some nice out of position guys to help with REB, but it still is a little low as are blocks. I’d look for the first big man add that comes along and hope it hits

  14. Drez1 says:
    (link)

Would you guys trade Gordon Hayward for Jrue Holiday in a 20 team h2h? (standard cats, + DD, TD, and a/t ratio instead of TO). I need another PG, and it seems like Hayward will probably regress this season with all the offensive options the Jazz have now. Thanks.

  15. Chris says:
    (link)

    Hey JB!

Thanks Man. and Rudy thanks! So I’m in a 12 team league roto h2h 9 cats and I have the #2 overall pick. I’m thinking either Curry or Westbrook. I know you have Harden #2 but will you be disappointed in me if I don’t take him? LOL thats questions #1.

I have been pretty successful over the past 5 years going big small big small for the first 6 picks and seeing where it goes from there. I am considering however, going Curry/westbrook and then Drummond, Jordan. What do you think? Am I crazy? I would obviously be punting FG % but it would give me a huge advantage in Boards and Blocks.

Last question. I took our Bucks to go over 36.5 wins on the season, what do you think?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Chris: Yup, all Rudy helping here! Hah no I wouldn’t be, all the top 4 are really close. I’m all for that strategy, someone did it in my RCL this afternoon and his team looks nasty. Hmmmm that’s a good number. I’ll go over as well, but barely. Middleton hurts….

Big Giannis fan, I guess I would have to take a top 4 guy if he fell to me. Thoughts? Great rankings by the way

    • Tony C says:
      (link)

I expect Gianniis to have a great year but Towns could be the fantasy MVP. I’d stick with KAT st 4th pick. I’d only consider Durant, curry, harden or Westbrook over Towns.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@JJ: @Tony C: Not crazy, but I think there’s a little bit of a gap there. I still have him firmly 6 right after Towns

  17. Thunder from Down Under says:
    (link)

    Hi Slim and JB,

    Just some quick questions:

Who would you take out of: Lin, Collison and Knight all three are available? Currently starting Knight but think Lin could be more valuable or is collison worth stashing?

Would you have those guys in front of Bradley?

Currently have Bradley and Knight on roster but just wanted your thoughts on adding either Lin or Collison instead.

    Thank you very much guys.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Thunder from Down Under: I think I rank them Collison, Knight, Lin, but all within a few spots. I’d go Knight if needing 3s, I think Collison is best in a vacuum. And nah, due to PG runs and shortages that happens in drafts I have them all ahead of Bradley.

    SG. Harden, E Gordon
    SF. Parsons, Marcus Morris
PF. Pau Gasol, Jamychal Green, Taj Gibson
    C. Brook Lopez, Vucevic, Nurkic

Important to note that i have 14 players with only 13 slots (Collison on IL for two weeks). So someone will need to be dropped at that point. What do you think about this trade?

    JB and Slim,

Epic work again on the pre-season content. Looking forward to an interesting fantasy season with some newish faces looking to make a big impact. Got a kinda shallow 10 team, 9cat H2H league with 10 active, 2 bench, 1 IR. I had 5th pick and ended up with this lot. Pretty happy overall but think I may be a little light in assists and may need some high volume FT to balance Gobert. What do you reckon, do I need to find anything in particular? I generally like to build around high %s and low TOs.

    5 – KAT
    16 – Lowry
    25 – Poison Goose
    36 – Gobert
    45 – Teague
    56 – Conley
    65 – Gorgui
    76 – Bazemore
    85 – Collison
    96 – Wes Matthews
    105 – Nowitski
    116 – DeMarre Carroll

    Thanks again guys.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: Thanks man, pumped for the season as well! Def a good %s/TO team! FG% might be a little iffy though. Mannnnn, 105 for Nowitzki! Great value. I actually think your AST is pretty decent. I would just weigh getting a little more FG% in your line-up, it looks like a good team!

      • Patty Mills Is My Homeboy says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks man, yeah good point about the FG%. I grabbed the goose in the 3rd as I wanted to sure up some blocks but then Gobert seemed good value in the 4th so I’m probably well covered there. What do you think about moving the goose for a high FG% guy or is he worth holding to see what year 2 brings? I’m high on the kid after owning him and watching last year so I’m hesitant. Otherwise any other candidates to move?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: Yeah Goose makes it tough for FG. yeahhhhh I think you have enough BLK and enough 3s to be able to lose him for sayyyy, Brook Lopez? Horford? Those are the guys in the same range I debate in that spot. Nah I like the rest of your roster, i think that would be the biggie

        • Slim

          Slim says:
          (link)

@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: No way. You’re fine once Collison gets back. Just dominate with Goose. There’s also a very high probability he improves on his FG%, the question is by how much. I also think you would take a good hit to blocks. Only 4 bigs outside of Dirk. Hold the Geese.

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: @Slim: Stop REL biasing on my comments! Besides, going to Brook isn’t a huge BLK downgrade

            • Slim

              Slim says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: sure but you gain what? and don’t you dare call Brook a good rebounder, per36 career 8.2! Goose was 9.3 per 36 last year and his minutes are definitely going up. So is the hit to 3s, stls, blks, TOs, FT%, and I would say boards, worth a bump in FG% whilst I would also argue adding injury risk in Lopez and losing any simblance of upside in Goose? This seems obvious to me…

              • JB Gilpin

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: @JB Gilpin: @Slim: He doesn’t need 3s at all, Brolo actually more STL last year, TO I think will be about the same, FT Brolo gets more volume at a good % too so I think that’s a wash, and with no Thad, Brolo gonna get REB. I thought you agreed Brolo didn’t have injury risk with that foot anymore? Zinger had some nagging stuff. Agree to disagree, I think Brolo helps this build more

                • Slim

                  Slim says:
                  (link)

@JB Gilpin: Goose was higher steals per36 and his minutes are going up. Lopez was .787 FTs on 5.9 attempts per36, Porzingis was .838 on 4.2. Can’t compare 28 min to 34 unless you think Goose only gets 28 again. BroLo was 8.3 per36 boards, Goose was 9.3. RHJ will take boards, Booker was a smidge better per36 rebounding than Thad and he had to contend with Gobert and Favors and is much higher than Thad for his career.. I don’t agree to disagree!!! hehe

                    • Patty Mills Is My Homeboy says:
                      (link)

@JB Gilpin: Awesome guys appreciate the input. I know on paper that Brolo has value but I just find him so boring. I might ride the goose for the time being and can always later go after a Brolo/Horford type if he’s sinking me. I know Rose isn’t a top end distributor but maybe him and Noah will give the goose some better looks and surely Rose and Melo will take all of those bad shots at the end of the 24!
                      Enjoy opening night!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@E: Yeah you’re def a punt PTS too haha. It’s really easy to accidentally do since the FT punt bigs are all low scorers. Well, Drummond is OK. I def would try to shore up TO a little better for this build, and honestly might even be worth shopping Curry. I would try to move Covington for sure though, low FG% which brings you down, you don’t need 3s, and he turns it over too much

      • E says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: yeah my scoring point guard targets went a little higher than I expected. Once that happened I tried to sure up 3s and steals to go with rebounds, blocks, and fg%

Definitely going to be on the wire early to get some scoring and reevaluate in a couple weeks. (Dwight can return to 20 ppg, right!?)

On elast thing, tell me our Bucks will cover over 36.5!

Thanks JB! I’ll be on here a lot this year!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Chris: I think the Bucks can do it! Nah Evans might be back by early December, it’s still risky though. You’re pretty much a BLK punt team but REB look preatty good. FG% a little iffy too, I know you spent a high pick on him, but Porzingis traded for a high boarder with better FG% might fit ya

Hi. I’ve only just come across your website this year.
Interested in your thoughts on my team.

    14 team 9 cat roto.
G: Kyrie Irving, Eric Bledsoe, Darren Collison
F: Nic Batum, Chandler Parsons, Thad Young
C: Anthony Davis, Robin Lopez, Tristan Thompson
    Uti: Gary Harris, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Should I keep Tristan Thompson for boards and high FG%?
There are a few Cs available such as Andrew Bogut, Tyson Chandler and Willie Cauley-Stein.

p.s. I know that my team is very high risk with a lot of injury prone players, but I thought I’d take the high risk high reward route this season.

@G1B5ON: Glad you found us, thanks for dropping by! Thompson’s FG% is a little misleading given the low volume, I would get Chandler I think. More rebounds which you could use. Love the low TO rate! Yeah a lot of injury risks, but I like the squad a lot!

@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB. Good to get an unbiased opinion as I’m from Melbourne and love Bogut. But will pick up Chandler on your advice. Lol.

@G1B5ON: They’re definitely really close. I just think Chandler will board a little more, I think he’s gonna play more outta the gate than some expect

@cliffyoung93: Appreciate it man, it’s good to be back! Yeah not a lot of rebounders past DJ, but 1/2/4 picks are so high in boards I think you’ll be OK. Def a punt FT, FG% should be solid. Seems like a high pick for Fournier given the build, I might look to shop him for one more FT punt big

@Eazy E: Ft punt time! And looks like your scoring is almost a punt too. Def low in AST too, you need Jrue back in the worst way. Could benefit from a scoring PG or two ala Rose and Wade as buy low examples. Not seeing a waiver move for ya yet, but if you can nab a PG that emerges off the wire, I think it’ll help a ton!

        • Eazy E says:
          (link)

          @JB Gilpin:
I am banking on the upside in points from Hassan and DJ and points and assists from Schroder and Colli. Didn’t want to get another PG to keep my FG and TO strong. I’m also thinking of improving STL without hurting other cats. Does it make sense?

            (link)

@Eazy E: Yeah Whiteside should be fne, I dunno if DJ is gonna help much there. It’s not bad, but you lack premium scorers, only Kawhi will top 20 PPG most likely. I actually think your STL are pretty good!

I got offered Teague for my Gasol .
My current PF/C are Deandre Jordan, Nurkic, Marc Gasol,JaMychal Green, Marvin Williams , Bogut and Taj Gibson. My current PGs are Chris Paul , Bledsoe, Tim Frazier, Mudiay! I do need PG help but my C’s are boom or bust! what say you Mr JB! I was half expecting Andy Behrens to pop up on my screen and tell me what I should do !

Should I drop Josh Richardson and try and get Delly instead? Who do you think will have a better first month? What I’m planning to do is a week before Hayward comes back I will move Kieff and either one of Josh or Delly for a C; and also freeing up a space for Hayward in the process. I know Jrich hasn’t practiced yet so rust could be a factor, right? If that’s the case his value could be low which means I could have a hard time moving him.

    • Dante Green says:
      (link)

      @Dante Green:

Should I also consider dropping Jrich for Tjones (instead of Delly) if overall value were the issue? Haha. I don’t even know why I’m including Tjones in the discussion. LOL He’s a pain in the ass despite the huge upside

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Dante Green: Yeah I’d get Delly. J Rich still coming off injury, so I would suspect not huge minutes outta the gate. Hah yeah I’ll stick with Delly of the 3, although jones is moving up a little for me for the upside.

    Hi, JB!
I’ve been playing fantasy for 10+ years, but somehow managed not to bump into your website until this offseason. Honestly, this is the highest quality fantasy analysis I’ve seen so far, great job by you and the rest of the crew!
I planned to pause this season because I get too involved in fantasy, but could not resist the urge.
So, I drafted yesterday in a 10-team 9-cat H2H league and, after having gone for well-balanced rosters before (with solid success), drafted a punt-FT% team for the first time:

    G Curry (2) Rubio (42) Payton (79) G.HIll (99) E.Gordon (122)
    F Crowder (59) Batum (62) Mirotic (102) T.Jones (119)
    C DAJ (19) Drummond (22) Gobert (39) Nurkic (82)

Dropped Mirotic (worried about the role) for D-Will (as long as he’s healthy), to solidify AST.
In my opinion, I should be very good in REB, BLK, STL and AST, solid in FG% and 3PT.
Points seem to be weak (not an intentional punt).

Bottom line, I’m satisfied with the outcome, but would appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks in advance!
Once again, great job, thank you for your effort!
    Greetings from Serbia!

@Nukna: Wow, so honored for that praise, I really appreciate that! Hah yeah, gotta have at least ONE league! Hah. Yeah Pts are low, which is the tough thing to account for when FT punting. Agree with your assessment, and I think your TO are decent too, although Batum hurts a little there. All for D-Will over Miro. Your 3s are awesome! I think Batum makes the most sense to shop given I like your AST and you could cut a few TO, and maybe get a more pure scorer with low TO ala DeRozan. Thanks again for dropping by!

@james: Hey man, thanks so much for reading and now commenting! Man, love that Curry/FT punt/FT punt build, it’s so tough. Love your dimes, pretty good TO. Jrue healthy will make this team pretty unstoppable. Until he’s back, maybe your scoring is a little light, but the rest of this looks really good, gonna be a tough team to beat!

46 Isaiah Thomas, Bos PG K
58 Myles Turner, Ind PF K

    166 Jared Sullinger*, Tor PF
    171 Taj Gibson, Chi PF

Put Sullinger on IR and scooped up Jerami Grant. Feel pretty solid here, but as is tradition, I need Razz blessings and guidance. Appreciate the help gents.

@v00dr00: Nice nab of Grant! Dray fell to 34?! Your rebounds and BLK are insane. Def would use one more PG. I woulda gone PG over Tristan… Love that value for Bradley! But yeah, I would try to shop a big for one more AST source, utter dominance up front tho!

      • v00dr00 says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Turner & Murray for Conley? I was aiming for Conley but simply couldn’t pass up on Dieng at 70 and was still able to nab Collison at 75, which I think he’ll eclipse that draft spot easily.

          Slim says:
          (link)

@v00dr00: Nah, Myles is the real deal and I think Conley loses touches to Parsons. I’d look lower end, Tristan, Biyombo, Taj are all expendable. I’d look to move one of those for a low end PG (DellaV) or just drop one when one presents itself.

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@v00dr00: @Slim: I’d rather do the drop, but I think Conley would be a nice fit. Helps bring in AST while keeping TO low with Cousins and Dray. But if you can get Delly for Taj as a drop, I would prefer that
