My frequently used soundbyte now – Durant is a phenomenal player, Curry is a transcendent player. Curry will also be taking the ball up the court more. 3s with the FG% and the rest of the package keep him #1. |

No need to push Bron, and the Cavs end with 3 games in the H2H semis and 4 in the finals, with back-to-backs in both. Might only get 4-5 games the pivotal final two weeks. |

While I keep calling him D Barksdale for a character in one of the most sophisticated shows ever made, D Russell is anything but. 1.6/3.3/1.2 in 3s/AST/STL in sub-30 minutes as a 19-yr-old is still mad intriguing, especially with no Kobe-USG-suck. Hopefully Russell can keep from doing something stupid.UP – Looks great in preseason, and there’s such a big opportunity here. Belongs firmly entrenched |

So underrated. After getting traded to Motown, the numbers all boosted up – better FG%, 3+ PPG, more FT volume, more 3s, and a much better AST:TO that went from 2.0:1.6 in ORL to 2.6:1.1 in D-town. Full off-season with his new crew, and this could be an awesome, metrics-friendly season. |

My original blurb was too good – ‘Why I didn’t like DeRozan last year – Pts went down, AST:TO took a huge step back, treys down, FG% down, and a bad groin injury was the main reason he missed 22 games. Why I like DeRozan this year – Pts went back up (23.5 – career high), AST:TO took a huge step forward (4.0:2.2, ironically the exact same as in 13-14), treys up, FG% up, and he only missed 4 games.’ |

The Raptors desperately need deep shooting from guys other than Lowry (and I guess Carroll), but at well under 30% from downtown in his career, I think it could get a little ugly, and I don’t think we see this huge 1+/1+ STL/BLK season either. |

People are being way too chill on Will the thrill! 5.8 REB, 2.5 AST, 0.9/0.5 STL/BLK, and 1.4 treys as ancillary stats to the scoring is nothing to sneeze at, and I think he gets a similar MPG role, even with everyone healthy and the new wing rooks. |

Brutal news that R-Jax ‘could’ miss 6-8 weeks with knee issues. It wouldn’t be the end of the world, but this is for knee tendinitis, and not off a surgery. So who knows if this lingers. I am hoping to steer clear, and nab Ish late to see what happens… |

In only 18 MPG, Beasley went 12.8/4.9 with a usable-enough 0.6/0.5 STL/BLK in his stint in Houston, I already liked him as a sleeper and then he gets traded to a BETTER situation! They obviously need scoring, but unfortunately he’s not a huge perimeter shooter, so I’m not sure exactly what his role will be. |

Obviously didn’t have the rookie season the buzz was hyping – shooting 37.5% and turning it over an obscene 1.6/game in only 23 minutes – but StanVan wants to limit KCP and Marcus a little, and StanJo can play the 2, 3 or 4. Hopefully he can improve if given more minutes in year 2. |

What’s a lot sexier than Brow/Asik? Brow/Tjones! But then Brow would get pounded by centers, and it would be the most brittle frontline in history… There is a rapport between the two from their Kentucky days, but it’s a pure spec final pick that might not have enough MPG to be usable out of the gate. |

@Mak: Super solid! Of course everyone is loaded in 8 team, maybe your scoring is actually a little low? Only because Gobert/Gorgui are light, meh actually I retract that, you should be fine even in an 8er. TO are a little high and I think you might have some rough FG% weeks, but that’s all I got!
Hi,
Need some advice my draft is tomorrow and I was wondering how I should draft after my 3 keepers. I am in 12 team Roto
My Keepers are : Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetekumpo
I was wondering if I should player like Gortat or other centers or should I do one center one wing?
Should I take Devin Booker high. I am quite high on the guy but Bledsoe and knight are back
@Michael: Holy crap, nice set of keepers! If 9 cat roto, I def wanna get low-TO bigs. You need FG help and TO help. Gortat would be beautiful, would pass on like Crowder and Ariza due to FG%. Nah, I wouldn’t reach too hard for Booker in roto, FG% might be iffy, I think he’s better for H2H
Need some advice for our draft tomorrow. 20 teams h2h. Taking 6th pick. Is there a draft strategy that works for this very deep league format? I am high on taking giannis at 6th. If so, who should i pair giannis with my 35th pick? Thank you, razz team!
@Torn ACL: 20 teams, love it! that’s the beauty of Giannis, can literally go any direction. I would just go off my ranks (or your own personal ranks if you do them) and get the highest value. If one of the FT punt C falls, I might do that since Giannis is iffy there, just be sure to get 3s later
@JB Gilpin: Giannis plus a punt C is a good start. I’m hoping to get D Barksdale for scoring and 3s. But i am not so sure that he’ll still be available at 46th. sigh
@Torn ACL: Hope you ended up getting Barksdale!
What’s the reasoning for projecting Russell at just over 16 points per-game? Naturally he is expected to improve his game, has a clear path to more minutes, and with Kobe gone his useage will no doubt spike. It seems he should be pushing close to 20 ppg this year.
@JoeMorgan’sMustache: I see it’s right at 16…not sure why I thought it was just over.
@JoeMorgan’sMustache: Hah that is officially a Slim question! I’ll be sure he checks it out, I believe we talked this in a comment that he admitted to being conservative with the projection earlier in the offseason and would boost it up doing an edit now
@JB Gilpin: Thanks was just curious if you had some insight on that…will be looking for Slim’s response and or updated projections. High on Russell this year and in dynasty keeper/formats. Based on your note to the side of his name it seems you like him quite a bit as well. Do you think he can push close to 20 ppg this year? Thanks for what you do man!
@JoeMorgan’sMustache: 100% I would probably put it at 19ish just because I worry about bad shooting slumps and some games where he sits on the bench a little long. Appreciate that man!
Hi JB,
Should i drop Jerryd Bayless to pick Kyle Anderson? I don’t trust Bayless healing process. I already got Rondo, G.Hill and Ish Smith as point guards.
@Francis Mendoza: Def don’t mind dropping Bayless, but I would imagine there’s other guys on the wire I’d like more…
Hey guys! Infrequent commenter but a loyal daily reader for years here putting the call out to Razzball nation.
Just had an owner drop from my 5th year keeper league at the last minute. We keep up to 8. 10 team h2h with 11-cat scoring (DD and FGMI added to standard 9-cat), $200 budget, 15 roster spots plus IR. The roster in question features some good value in a $21 Jimmy Butler, $25 Wiggins, $25 Love, $16 Howard, and $21 Beal, so it’s not a barren roster by any means. Our auction is Monday 10/24 11pm EST, so really soon.
Anyone interested in joining a highly competitive but affordable keeper league hit me up. This is only the third time an owner has dropped and we’re going into our 5th year, so we’re definitely a bunch of basketball junkies here!
Kurt

@Kurt: update: spot filled! You guys are awesome as always!
@Kurt: Thanks man, appreciate you reading us! Glad you got the spot filled!
thoughts on a keeper league trade? 14 teams with 4 keepers (9 cat h2h)
Current Keepers are Durant, Oladipo, Turner, Wiggins
just got offered a 1st round pick (6th pick in 1st round) and gobert for my wiggins
thanks!
@Slimbo: I would take that deal depending on who I was taking with the pick
@Bye Felica:
tons of players to choose from, all those rookies plus 1 of
Derrick Favors
Mike Conley
Jonas Valanciunas
Trevor Ariza
Tobias Harris
Ricky Rubio
Gorgui Dieng
Nicolas Batum
Evan Fournier
Zach LaVine
Marcin Gortat
Avery Bradley
@Bye Felica: @Slimbo: Yeah scoring is a huge need for your keepers, so I would take the deal
Hello JB and may we have another great Razzball season,
Im on a H2H- 10team – 9CAT league and we just had our draft this morning. I was picking 8th out of 10. So here’s my team in the order that i drafted it :
#8 Chris Paul
#13 Hassan Whiteside
#28 Kemba Walker
#33 Kristaps Porzingis
#48 Andrew Wiggins
#53 Jae Crowder
#68 Ricky Rubio
#73 Marcin Gortat
#88 Avery Bradley
#93 Jusuf Nurkic
#108 Robert Covington
#113 Markieff Morris
#128 Luol Deng
General thoughts on my team? What would you be looking to improve?
Thanks in advance man!
@Tenethor: Hell yeah man, it’s almost here! I think your REB might be a tad low, meh actually if Deng and Kieff work out it should be fine. Wiggins was needed for PTS but I think PTS and maybe 3s are you lowest cats so I would be ThrAGNOF streaming for sure
Hi JB and Slim, relatively new fantasy player here but of all the sites I’ve read for fantasy, this is my favorite, great job.
my league is a ESPN head to head, standard 9 categories BUT… instead of getting a point for each category you have highers stats, you only get 1 point for winning the majority of of categories. That makes me believe punting to solidify my strengths is extremely important. In my opinion I have a balanced team (not ideal)
PG- Lowry, Jeremy Lin
SG- Derozan, Fournier
SF- Gay, Hollis-Jefferson, Parsons
PF-Aldridge, Myles Turner
C- Towns, Valanciunas,Jusuf Nurkic
IR- Danny Green
Im already thinking about trading but which categories you think I should target based on my team? I just need to win 5 categories but dont want to trade and end up with a more balanced team
@Yan Yala: Hey man, awesome really appreciate that! Yup 100% with you, you’re def punting a few cats in that format. I think I might punt points and think about dealing DeRozan or Gay. You have pretty good %s, I dunno if your STL are that great so might look to shop RHJ too if he starts hot
Hi JB/Slim,
Just finished our 12-team 9-cat auction roto.
Kemba Walker – $37
Evan Fournier – $10
Nicolas Batum – $20
LaMarcus Aldridge – $29
Brook Lopez – $26
Avery Bradley – $4
Nikola Jokic – $19
Jonas Valanciunas – $13
Gorgui Dieng – $11
Goran Dragic – $21
DeMarre Carroll – $1
Kent Bazemore – $7
Reggie Jackson – $2
Thoughts?
@decaf: Love that buy of RJax! Ummmm, scoring is a little low, ast are def very very low. I’d look for a scoring PG, even someone blah like Derrick Rose would fit well
@JB Gilpin: Yeah, I can see that. I lost my bid for Rubio by $1, otherwise my AST would have been fine. I figure I can trade one of my bigs for a PG early on. Who do you think is a good sell-high candidate among my PF/Cs?
Thanks as always, your site has been a huge help in draft preparation! ^_^
@decaf: Damn, yeah that woulda been a good get. I kinda like your values across the board, so I might give it a few games and determine your best sell high from there. Appreciate that, thanks for dropping by!
I notice you have TJ McConnell on there twice at both 149 and 150. Who’s missing that should be in that second slot (if anyone)?
@Fenris-77: Hmmmm must be some sort of spreadsheet glitch… But 149 is Lou Williams -> http://basketball.razzball.com/official-razzball-2016-2017-fantasy-basketball-rankings
JB thanks for your time and your opinion in advance.
I drafted a few nights ago in a 12 team, 9-cat, H2H league as follows:
1. #8 Antetokounmpo
2. #17 Lowry
3. #32 Jokic
4. #41 M.Turner
5. #56 Crowder
6. #65 A.Bradley
7. #80 A.Gordon
8. #89 Embiid
9. #104 Hollis-Jefferson
10.#113 Bazemore
11.#128 Noah
12#137 E.Turner
13.#152 Josh Richardson
Thoughts on my team? I think I overdrafted in a few places for my big men but I really wanted Jokic, Turner and Embiid and I thought all would of them would be gone if I waited for the next round. Anyway I feel like my team lacks assists and 3’s. I put Richardson on my IR already today and picked up Tim Frazier. I am contemplating dropping Evan Turner for either Seth Curry, Tyler Johnson or Jamal Murray. Also would you keep Richardson on IR or pick up another IR player such as Tyreke, Beverley or Bayless? Thanks again JB!
@Tony C: Yup I’m with ya, AST and 3s are light. Well, 3s aren’t that bad. Nah I think I would hold Turner for the dimes. Backend of your roster isn’t a ton of scorers, so I would look to stream scorer-types. Ummmm, nah I think I’m with ya in IL-ing J Rich
Hi Jb and Slim! First of all, just wanna say thank you for all the hardwork you put in doing these rankings, projections etc! It certainly helps all of us! Haha. Anyways, finished an auction draft few hours ago. 14 team league, 9 cat (FTM instead of TO). Any thoughts or opinion?
Harden
Danny Green
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Mudiay
Parsons
Porzingis
Gallinari
Kieff Morris
Nurkic
Hibbert
KCP
Deng
Dellavedova
Lou Will
FG% punt? I think i’m a little low on boards? Thanks in advance!
@Matt G!: Thanks man, appreciate that! Man Harden is sooooo good in that format. Def a FG punt. Yeah you have some nice out of position guys to help with REB, but it still is a little low as are blocks. I’d look for the first big man add that comes along and hope it hits
Would you guys trade Gordon Hayward for Jrue Holiday in a 20 team h2h? (standard cats, + DD, TD, and a/t ratio instead of TO). I need another PG, and it seems like Hayward will probably regress this season with all the offensive options the Jazz have now. Thanks.
@Drez1:
Oh, and it’s a punt ft% build in a dynasty.
@Drez1: Mehhhhh, I think I’d lean holding Hayward, I think you get more production this year and I think he’s a year or two younger
Hey JB!
Thanks Man. and Rudy thanks! So I’m in a 12 team league roto h2h 9 cats and I have the #2 overall pick. I’m thinking either Curry or Westbrook. I know you have Harden #2 but will you be disappointed in me if I don’t take him? LOL thats questions #1.
I have been pretty successful over the past 5 years going big small big small for the first 6 picks and seeing where it goes from there. I am considering however, going Curry/westbrook and then Drummond, Jordan. What do you think? Am I crazy? I would obviously be punting FG % but it would give me a huge advantage in Boards and Blocks.
Last question. I took our Bucks to go over 36.5 wins on the season, what do you think?
@Chris: Yup, all Rudy helping here! Hah no I wouldn’t be, all the top 4 are really close. I’m all for that strategy, someone did it in my RCL this afternoon and his team looks nasty. Hmmmm that’s a good number. I’ll go over as well, but barely. Middleton hurts….
Hey guys,
Has anyone seen a breakdown like website below? I think it’s last year’s schedule.
http://www.signandtrade.com/nba/nba-matrix-of-games-by-day-of-week.aspx
@JK: Are you looking for that grid but updated? I’m not sure where to go…
5th pick. Is taking Giannis over Towns crazy?
Big Giannis fan, I guess I would have to take a top 4 guy if he fell to me. Thoughts? Great rankings by the way
I expect Gianniis to have a great year but Towns could be the fantasy MVP. I’d stick with KAT st 4th pick. I’d only consider Durant, curry, harden or Westbrook over Towns.
@JJ: @Tony C: Not crazy, but I think there’s a little bit of a gap there. I still have him firmly 6 right after Towns
Hi Slim and JB,
Just some quick questions:
Who would you take out of: Lin, Collison and Knight all three are available? Currently starting Knight but think Lin could be more valuable or is collison worth stashing?
Would you have those guys in front of Bradley?
Currently have Bradley and Knight on roster but just wanted your thoughts on adding either Lin or Collison instead.
Thank you very much guys.
@Thunder from Down Under: I think I rank them Collison, Knight, Lin, but all within a few spots. I’d go Knight if needing 3s, I think Collison is best in a vacuum. And nah, due to PG runs and shortages that happens in drafts I have them all ahead of Bradley.
5 leagues so far and my best pick was #8.
One more chance tomorrow to get one of the big 4!
@Scott: RCLs, I had pick 7, 11, 12, 2, 10. At least the 2 was in the vs. Slim league!
@Scott: I had 12, 6, and 10.
Whiteside/Wall, Giannis/Drummond, Giannis/Wall.
Hi jb what do you think of my team and which area should I improve 18 teams roto
Isiah Thomas
Lin
Rozier
Derozan
Tobias
Covington
Whiteside
Mozgov
Dudley
Amir Johnson.
Bench. Harkless , KJ McDaniel , brogdon
@Nont nontiskul: Def could use a few more AST. Covington is really annoying to own in Roto. Could use a few more REB. Whiteside can prob carry BLK himself. A good rebounding AST source for Covington? I would try shopping that deal
thoughts on team needs?
Harden, J. Hou
Favors, D. Uta
Porzingis, K. NY
Walker, K. Cha
Ricky Rubio Min – PG
Carmelo Anthony NY – SF,PF
Paul Gasol, C, SAS
Jusuf Nurkic, den, c
Brandon Knight Pho – PG,SG
Thaddeus Young Ind – SF,PF
Jrue Holiday PG NOLA
Kentavious Caldwell Pope, Det SG
Tim Frazier NO – PG
Jared sullinger, tor, PF/c
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Cha – SF
Zach Randolph Mem – PF,C
Amir Johnson, bos, PF/c
Zaza Pachulia, GSW, C
@kb: Deep rosters! You’ve got a boatload of REB! Only thing that really sticks out is FG%, but I don’t see anything too dire right now. Nice draft!
9-cat 10 team draft just finished. How do you think I did/think I need to make significant changes?
(6) Kawhi
(15) Millsap
(26) Bledsoe
(35) I. Thomas
(46) Dieng
(55) Paraons
(66) Crowder
(75) Gortat
(86) Darren Collison
(95) George Hill
(106) Demarre Carroll
(115) Nurkic
(126) Barton
(135) Mitzi
(146) JaMychal Green
@Sumeet: Nothing is really sticking out to me! Like all of these picks at their values, esp. 115 Nurk! I’ve got no real issues to point out here! Mayyyybe scoring if I had to pick something?! But not by a lot at all, great team
9CAT H2H 12 Team League
Got offered Winslow for Taj Gibson
Team:
PG. Kemba, Schroder, Collison, G Hill
SG. Harden, E Gordon
SF. Parsons, Marcus Morris
PF. Pau Gasol, Jamychal Green, Taj Gibson
C. Brook Lopez, Vucevic, Nurkic
Important to note that i have 14 players with only 13 slots (Collison on IL for two weeks). So someone will need to be dropped at that point. What do you think about this trade?
@Jay: I’d take the deal, so much more upside. Plus his question mark in FT% you have fixed with Harden
I know this is almost sac-relig here, but do we think Terrence Jones should be bumped up a smidge? He’s looked fantastic in preseason play. Sorry for bringing it up Razzballers
@v00dr00: Hah I moved him up! This was put together right before I pushed out my last few ranks updates -> http://basketball.razzball.com/official-razzball-2016-2017-fantasy-basketball-rankings
Hey guys – dont think my post from before posted but if it did I’ll delete it.
Just finished up a 9-cat 10 team H2H draft. Let me know if you guys think I should make any significant moves:
PG: Bledsoe, Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison, George Hill
SG: Kawhi, Barton
SF: Parsons, Crowder, Carroll, Mirza
PF: Millsap, Dieng, JaMychal Green
C: Gortat, Nurkic
@Sam: Nope I think you’re good re: posts. Def a little light in scoring. D stats look great, 3s are def really good. Could maybe use a few more REB too. Someone like Zach Randolph could be a big help and is cheap
JB and Slim,
Epic work again on the pre-season content. Looking forward to an interesting fantasy season with some newish faces looking to make a big impact. Got a kinda shallow 10 team, 9cat H2H league with 10 active, 2 bench, 1 IR. I had 5th pick and ended up with this lot. Pretty happy overall but think I may be a little light in assists and may need some high volume FT to balance Gobert. What do you reckon, do I need to find anything in particular? I generally like to build around high %s and low TOs.
5 – KAT
16 – Lowry
25 – Poison Goose
36 – Gobert
45 – Teague
56 – Conley
65 – Gorgui
76 – Bazemore
85 – Collison
96 – Wes Matthews
105 – Nowitski
116 – DeMarre Carroll
Thanks again guys.
@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: Thanks man, pumped for the season as well! Def a good %s/TO team! FG% might be a little iffy though. Mannnnn, 105 for Nowitzki! Great value. I actually think your AST is pretty decent. I would just weigh getting a little more FG% in your line-up, it looks like a good team!
@JB Gilpin: Thanks man, yeah good point about the FG%. I grabbed the goose in the 3rd as I wanted to sure up some blocks but then Gobert seemed good value in the 4th so I’m probably well covered there. What do you think about moving the goose for a high FG% guy or is he worth holding to see what year 2 brings? I’m high on the kid after owning him and watching last year so I’m hesitant. Otherwise any other candidates to move?
@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: Yeah Goose makes it tough for FG. yeahhhhh I think you have enough BLK and enough 3s to be able to lose him for sayyyy, Brook Lopez? Horford? Those are the guys in the same range I debate in that spot. Nah I like the rest of your roster, i think that would be the biggie
@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: No way. You’re fine once Collison gets back. Just dominate with Goose. There’s also a very high probability he improves on his FG%, the question is by how much. I also think you would take a good hit to blocks. Only 4 bigs outside of Dirk. Hold the Geese.
@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: @Slim: Stop REL biasing on my comments! Besides, going to Brook isn’t a huge BLK downgrade
@JB Gilpin: sure but you gain what? and don’t you dare call Brook a good rebounder, per36 career 8.2! Goose was 9.3 per 36 last year and his minutes are definitely going up. So is the hit to 3s, stls, blks, TOs, FT%, and I would say boards, worth a bump in FG% whilst I would also argue adding injury risk in Lopez and losing any simblance of upside in Goose? This seems obvious to me…
@Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: @JB Gilpin: @Slim: He doesn’t need 3s at all, Brolo actually more STL last year, TO I think will be about the same, FT Brolo gets more volume at a good % too so I think that’s a wash, and with no Thad, Brolo gonna get REB. I thought you agreed Brolo didn’t have injury risk with that foot anymore? Zinger had some nagging stuff. Agree to disagree, I think Brolo helps this build more
@JB Gilpin: Goose was higher steals per36 and his minutes are going up. Lopez was .787 FTs on 5.9 attempts per36, Porzingis was .838 on 4.2. Can’t compare 28 min to 34 unless you think Goose only gets 28 again. BroLo was 8.3 per36 boards, Goose was 9.3. RHJ will take boards, Booker was a smidge better per36 rebounding than Thad and he had to contend with Gobert and Favors and is much higher than Thad for his career.. I don’t agree to disagree!!! hehe
@Slim: I think you’re getting a little too into per-36. no, I think Goose gets to 30, but not 34. Haha well at [email protected]Patty Mills Is My Homeboy: @Slim: Gets a nice debate to weigh the options haha
@JB Gilpin: Awesome guys appreciate the input. I know on paper that Brolo has value but I just find him so boring. I might ride the goose for the time being and can always later go after a Brolo/Horford type if he’s sinking me. I know Rose isn’t a top end distributor but maybe him and Noah will give the goose some better looks and surely Rose and Melo will take all of those bad shots at the end of the 24!
Enjoy opening night!
Agree man, Goose is a ton more fun to watch! Great start tonight. Yeah no need to rush a deal, we got a long marathon to go. Good luck the rest of the night!
what do you think of this team? Obviously I punted FT%, think i may have punted points too unfortunately. h2h 9 cat
PG – Rubio
SG – Curry
SF – Ariza
PF – Drummond
C – Jordon
UTIL – Howard
UTIL – Capela
UTIL – Danny Green
BN – Elfrid Payton
BN – Marvin Williams
BN – Robert Covington
BN – TJ Mcconnell
@E: Yeah you’re def a punt PTS too haha. It’s really easy to accidentally do since the FT punt bigs are all low scorers. Well, Drummond is OK. I def would try to shore up TO a little better for this build, and honestly might even be worth shopping Curry. I would try to move Covington for sure though, low FG% which brings you down, you don’t need 3s, and he turns it over too much
@JB Gilpin: yeah my scoring point guard targets went a little higher than I expected. Once that happened I tried to sure up 3s and steals to go with rebounds, blocks, and fg%
Definitely going to be on the wire early to get some scoring and reevaluate in a couple weeks. (Dwight can return to 20 ppg, right!?)
@E: Yup the PG runs continue to be a theme every year it feels like haha. Hahaha I wouldn’t quite go that far for Dwight, but he should get a little boost! …as long as he can stay healthy
Ok man I’m dying to know, I’m kinda torn, I thought you had a few guys higher than I would have taken them but I went with them anyways.
12 team 9 cats h2h
G (4)-Curry-Teague-Schroeder-Dunn
F- (4)-Griffin-Porzingis-Harris-Randolph
F/C-1-Teletovic
C-Kanter
Bench 3-Jennings-Turner and I honestly think I pushed the wrong button Tyreke Evans, out for the year isnt he?
On elast thing, tell me our Bucks will cover over 36.5!
Thanks JB! I’ll be on here a lot this year!
@Chris: I think the Bucks can do it! Nah Evans might be back by early December, it’s still risky though. You’re pretty much a BLK punt team but REB look preatty good. FG% a little iffy too, I know you spent a high pick on him, but Porzingis traded for a high boarder with better FG% might fit ya
Hi. I’ve only just come across your website this year.
Interested in your thoughts on my team.
14 team 9 cat roto.
G: Kyrie Irving, Eric Bledsoe, Darren Collison
F: Nic Batum, Chandler Parsons, Thad Young
C: Anthony Davis, Robin Lopez, Tristan Thompson
Uti: Gary Harris, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Should I keep Tristan Thompson for boards and high FG%?
There are a few Cs available such as Andrew Bogut, Tyson Chandler and Willie Cauley-Stein.
p.s. I know that my team is very high risk with a lot of injury prone players, but I thought I’d take the high risk high reward route this season.
@G1B5ON: Glad you found us, thanks for dropping by! Thompson’s FG% is a little misleading given the low volume, I would get Chandler I think. More rebounds which you could use. Love the low TO rate! Yeah a lot of injury risks, but I like the squad a lot!
@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB. Good to get an unbiased opinion as I’m from Melbourne and love Bogut. But will pick up Chandler on your advice. Lol.
@G1B5ON: They’re definitely really close. I just think Chandler will board a little more, I think he’s gonna play more outta the gate than some expect
Hey JB! Love that you’re doing this again. Could you see how I did on my draft
10 man H2h
I drafted to punt points and FT%— i feel like i may not have enough rebounds what do you think?
1. (10) Giannis Antetokounmpo PG,SG,SF
2. (11) Hassan Whiteside C
3. (30) Mike Conley PG
4. (31) DeAndre Jordan C
5. (50) Evan Fournier SG,SF
6. (51) Darren Collison PG
7. (70) Bradley Beal SG
8. (71) Otto Porter SF
9. (90) Clint Capela PF,C
10. (91) Elfrid Payton PG
11. (110) Kyle Korver SG,SF
12. (111) Kent Bazemore SG,SF
13. (130) JaMychal Green PF
@cliffyoung93: Appreciate it man, it’s good to be back! Yeah not a lot of rebounders past DJ, but 1/2/4 picks are so high in boards I think you’ll be OK. Def a punt FT, FG% should be solid. Seems like a high pick for Fournier given the build, I might look to shop him for one more FT punt big
Hey JB! Here we go again! As always, wanted to show you my team and get your thoughts (12 team, 9-cat, h2h):
Hassan
Kawhi
Deandre
Drummond
Crowder
Schroder
Collison
Lavine
Bazemore
KCP
Marcus Morris
Buddy Hield
Jrue (IL)
Any concerns? Thoughts/comments/suggestion?
Thanks man!
Key FA:
PBev
Zeller
Matt Barnes
Danny Green
Teletovic
Courtney Lee
Evan Turner
Kaminsky
TJ Warren
Josh Richardson
@Eazy E: Ft punt time! And looks like your scoring is almost a punt too. Def low in AST too, you need Jrue back in the worst way. Could benefit from a scoring PG or two ala Rose and Wade as buy low examples. Not seeing a waiver move for ya yet, but if you can nab a PG that emerges off the wire, I think it’ll help a ton!
@JB Gilpin:
I am banking on the upside in points from Hassan and DJ and points and assists from Schroder and Colli. Didn’t want to get another PG to keep my FG and TO strong. I’m also thinking of improving STL without hurting other cats. Does it make sense?
@Eazy E: Yeah Whiteside should be fne, I dunno if DJ is gonna help much there. It’s not bad, but you lack premium scorers, only Kawhi will top 20 PPG most likely. I actually think your STL are pretty good!
@JB Gilpin:
Thanks, JB! Appreciate it!
@Eazy E: Any time!
JB!!
I got offered Teague for my Gasol .
My current PF/C are Deandre Jordan, Nurkic, Marc Gasol,JaMychal Green, Marvin Williams , Bogut and Taj Gibson. My current PGs are Chris Paul , Bledsoe, Tim Frazier, Mudiay! I do need PG help but my C’s are boom or bust! what say you Mr JB! I was half expecting Andy Behrens to pop up on my screen and tell me what I should do !
@Blint: Yo! Hahaha if only Behrens knew our teams well enough… I have Gasol ranked higher and I actually think your PG depth isn’t too bad, I think I would hold
@JB Gilpin:
Thank you kind Sir!
@Blint: Any time!
Should I drop Josh Richardson and try and get Delly instead? Who do you think will have a better first month? What I’m planning to do is a week before Hayward comes back I will move Kieff and either one of Josh or Delly for a C; and also freeing up a space for Hayward in the process. I know Jrich hasn’t practiced yet so rust could be a factor, right? If that’s the case his value could be low which means I could have a hard time moving him.
@Dante Green:
Should I also consider dropping Jrich for Tjones (instead of Delly) if overall value were the issue? Haha. I don’t even know why I’m including Tjones in the discussion. LOL He’s a pain in the ass despite the huge upside
@Dante Green: Yeah I’d get Delly. J Rich still coming off injury, so I would suspect not huge minutes outta the gate. Hah yeah I’ll stick with Delly of the 3, although jones is moving up a little for me for the upside.
Hi, JB!
I’ve been playing fantasy for 10+ years, but somehow managed not to bump into your website until this offseason. Honestly, this is the highest quality fantasy analysis I’ve seen so far, great job by you and the rest of the crew!
I planned to pause this season because I get too involved in fantasy, but could not resist the urge.
So, I drafted yesterday in a 10-team 9-cat H2H league and, after having gone for well-balanced rosters before (with solid success), drafted a punt-FT% team for the first time:
G Curry (2) Rubio (42) Payton (79) G.HIll (99) E.Gordon (122)
F Crowder (59) Batum (62) Mirotic (102) T.Jones (119)
C DAJ (19) Drummond (22) Gobert (39) Nurkic (82)
Dropped Mirotic (worried about the role) for D-Will (as long as he’s healthy), to solidify AST.
In my opinion, I should be very good in REB, BLK, STL and AST, solid in FG% and 3PT.
Points seem to be weak (not an intentional punt).
Bottom line, I’m satisfied with the outcome, but would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks in advance!
Once again, great job, thank you for your effort!
Greetings from Serbia!
@Nukna: Wow, so honored for that praise, I really appreciate that! Hah yeah, gotta have at least ONE league! Hah. Yeah Pts are low, which is the tough thing to account for when FT punting. Agree with your assessment, and I think your TO are decent too, although Batum hurts a little there. All for D-Will over Miro. Your 3s are awesome! I think Batum makes the most sense to shop given I like your AST and you could cut a few TO, and maybe get a more pure scorer with low TO ala DeRozan. Thanks again for dropping by!
Hey Jb Two year reader, 1st time Roster Poster. Glad to finally submit my team before the season starts.
12 team h2h 9 cat standard yahoo, punted ft% .
( *similar to the guy who posted above me actually /\, so probably similar advice huh ;))
1. (3) Stephen Curry
2. (22) DeAndre Jordan
3. (27) Andre Drummond
4. (46) Goran Dragic
5. (51) Jae Crowder
6. (70) Jeremy Lin
7. (75) Marcin Gortat
8. (94) DeMarre Carroll
9. (99) Elfrid Payton
10. (118) Jrue Holiday
11. (123) J.R. Smith
12. (142) Taj Gibson
13. (147) JaMychal Green
14. (166) Tyson Chandler
appreciate the rankings and the work you guys do!
@james: Hey man, thanks so much for reading and now commenting! Man, love that Curry/FT punt/FT punt build, it’s so tough. Love your dimes, pretty good TO. Jrue healthy will make this team pretty unstoppable. Until he’s back, maybe your scoring is a little light, but the rest of this looks really good, gonna be a tough team to beat!
@JB Gilpin:
Never had this high of a pick before so yep I’m excited. Thanks for taking a look. Good luck in your leagues!
@james: Hah yeah, it def makes life easier! Appreciate that, good luck as well!
Alright, next team up:
THE REAL SNAKE IN THE GRASS
10 DeMarcus Cousins, Sac C K
22 Anthony Davis, Nor PF K
34 Draymond Green, GS SF K
46 Isaiah Thomas, Bos PG K
58 Myles Turner, Ind PF K
70 Gorgui Dieng, Min C
75 Darren Collison*, Sac PG
94 Avery Bradley, Bos SG
99 Tristan Thompson, Cle PF
118 Eric Gordon, Hou SG
123 Marvin Williams, Cha SF
142 Jamal Murray, Den SG
147 Bismack Biyombo, Orl C
166 Jared Sullinger*, Tor PF
171 Taj Gibson, Chi PF
Put Sullinger on IR and scooped up Jerami Grant. Feel pretty solid here, but as is tradition, I need Razz blessings and guidance. Appreciate the help gents.
@v00dr00: Nice nab of Grant! Dray fell to 34?! Your rebounds and BLK are insane. Def would use one more PG. I woulda gone PG over Tristan… Love that value for Bradley! But yeah, I would try to shop a big for one more AST source, utter dominance up front tho!
@JB Gilpin: Turner & Murray for Conley? I was aiming for Conley but simply couldn’t pass up on Dieng at 70 and was still able to nab Collison at 75, which I think he’ll eclipse that draft spot easily.
@v00dr00: Nah, Myles is the real deal and I think Conley loses touches to Parsons. I’d look lower end, Tristan, Biyombo, Taj are all expendable. I’d look to move one of those for a low end PG (DellaV) or just drop one when one presents itself.
@v00dr00: @Slim: I’d rather do the drop, but I think Conley would be a nice fit. Helps bring in AST while keeping TO low with Cousins and Dray. But if you can get Delly for Taj as a drop, I would prefer that
@Slim: Thanks for not letting me do anything crazy. I love me some Myles.
@Slim: @v00dr00: Hah yeah I do too, but it’s still a lot of touches needing to go around for the Pacers. Like him a lot though too 🙂 He was a big call of ours last yr
@JB Gilpin: well there’s now word of Tyler Johnson getting full backup duties by Dragic. Tempted to anoint him as the low end pg I bed here. Think I drop any of these guys for him?
@v00dr00: I butchered that. Is TJ the pg I need here or not? Haha
@v00dr00: Ummmm, I would rather Dellavedova as an example, but yeah he should fit!
@JB Gilpin: My buddy scooped him before I made my Grant pickup. Would you trade Taj or Grant for Delly? Would love to keep Grant though 🙁
Sure, I would float Taj for him. Yeah I kinda wanna see what Grant does too 🙂
