It’s our Thanksgiving week special!  I hope everyone is looking forward to spending the Holiday with our families, as the NFL maliciously takes up one of our NBA days this week!  Boooo!  At least we get a 15-game slate Friday!  On today’s show, we recap the news and notes around the NBA including a key injury that made me want to kill myself, go over some waiver wire considerations in 12ers, and play another edition of Can We Make Slim Look Stupid.  We then wrap the show with our 30-point challenge picks and a quick look at what we’ve been watching at the movies.  One last reminder to join our Fantasy Movie League here, we’re gonna have fun tracking through the Winter Season! Hi JB,

    1. CJ miles worth an add in 16m? Dropped hot sauce for him. Would you drop Gibson for parsons?

    2. Trade my Covington for Danny green?

    3. Schroeder for wesmat or am I underselling?

    4. Covington for faried or Tyson c in a 16m? I’m thinking hold tho.

    5. Bazemore or Harrison Barnes?

    • hamtime says:
      (link)

@Hamtime: 6. would you drop john gibson to get parsons (and at what FAAB – $30+?) or just nab spencer hawes while the bobcat bigs are hurt? 16m so hawes would be useful

@ slim, would be great to get your thoughts on this and the above as well. Sorry for the low-end questions!

@hamtime: 1. Eh. Injury looked bad, you lost Stauskas for him? That’s fine. And sure, in 16er Chandler P should still be owned. 2. Ehhhhh. Flip a coin, Green is safer and doesn’t hurt you as much. 3. Underselling. 4. Yeah probably hold, if desperate short-term big help, I don’t mind Faried. 5. Likely Bazemore, depends on needs a little. 6. Yup I would get Parsons. $100 FAAB budget? I might only go like 18-19.

            (link)

@JB Gilpin: sorry, I meant pbev for Tyson or faried.

And Thad for Schroeder, which still feels weak.

@Hamtime: Ah, yeah prob a hold, but same analysis Pbev/Coving. Yeah Thad feels low still for mw

                (link)

@JB Gilpin: I’m holding PBev. I like what I’m seeing there. Thad is close and his minutes are guaranteed but we can do better off a few better Schroder games.

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Hamtime: 1. Yeah I have zero faith in Gibson long term. CJ should be fine, assuming his injury is as minor as they say.
      2. Sure, but it’s a very different group of stats, the big steals vs maybe 1.0 blocks and without the soul sucking FG%. I would say scoring too but ummm… I’m getting worried about Covingtons role.
      3. Yeah I wouldn’t sell Schroder just yet. He probably won’t finish top 50 but neither will Wes.
      4. Ugh, not Tyson, Faried v Covington… It’s definitely need based and I don’t think either will blow up at any point, just the occasional good game.
      5. Harrison Barnes is points and that’s it. Gimme Bazemore.

Loving that Thanksgiving remix of the theme song!

Never thought that Harden, Kemba and Gorgui would be FT-punt this season.. geez man!

What do we do about Crowder in a 10 team roto? I’m a little concerned here. Perhaps I should just chill and wait for him to come back after a few more games off.

Speaking of games off, what the hell is going on with Lin. Reports that he recently went through a hard workout, yet we’re hearing nothing outta Brooklyn. He better get the hell back so I can shop my Dangelo HAAARD.

    Guess I was correct when I forecasted 3+ 3pm for Ryno 😉

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@JB Gilpin: Oh and give me my hubby Jrue for a 30pt gem. Don’t know why, but I have a feeling that Rose is gonna jack up too many shots against Dame to help Goose get to 30. “I’m the best super-PG in the NBA!”

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@Slim: Neegan is soooo mean, that poopy head. Agreed though: his character and that storyline are getting old extremely fast. It’s such a poorly written, one-dimensional character. Get Carol back into the mix already! And I’m really only invested in what’s going on with Daryl..

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Anderson currently sits at 2.4. Got a bit of a ways to go. I’m still taking the under. 3.0 wouldn’t be impossible but I remember people arguing 3.5 or even 4.0 which would have been him destroying his previous career best which he did in 36 minutes and I don’t think anyone was predicting 36 minutes for him.

Gotta hold Crowder. If you can bench him that would be ideal though.

D’Angelo not getting major minutes is really annoying. He absolutely should be. The Lakers winning games might be the worst thing for his value… There is nothing about this Brooklyn team I’m enjoying in fantasy. I own Booker in one league and that’s the sum total of my BKN ownership.

Not that too many people can cover Goose as it is but I’m thinking POR really doesn’t have anyone to match up with him. I imagine we get a lot of small ball and Goose at the 5 in this one.

Yeah I guess it’s the one-dimensional aspect of the character that I’m over. Usually with the show there’s something to talk about, like what a characters real motivations might be, but with Neagan there just isn’t anything to discuss.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: @Slim: Hah, let’s get that duet we sung on iTunes! Hah your FT will be fine with those guys… Def hold Crowder.

Brooklyn has money invested in pretty much only Lin I think, right? So yeah, not rushing him.

Goose was my second pick, strongly considered Jrue though too!

Good point Slim on Negan. Really one-dimensional for sure Las. J Dean Morgan is giving a good one-note performance, but it woulda been better in a short arc. It’ll be like when that annoying blonde finally got offed by the governor. It wasn’t “Awwwww”, it was “finally!” Like Negan, it will just be “ugh, FINALLY”

Just remember we’re out there listening so you have to at some point say something like, “Hey Grandpa are you ready to make Grandma look stupid?” I’m sure we will all be eagerly awaiting to hear what kind of theme music Grandma comes up with. I really hope she can whistle the Andy Griffith song.

2 things – Tristan’s blocks are legit. He was drafted to be a shot blocker out of college, and if you watched every cavs game since he was drafted, you’d notice that his issue always was that his timing was just a tad off, and it’s consistently improved up til this point. Now it’s finally paying off in the actual box score. When he first came in, his timing was too far off to even successfully contest a lot of inside shots.

Also, Capela has that Stoudemire role in the D’Antoni system. Not sure the scoring is here to stay, but he should average double digits, just from rolling for oops and layups. Plus, Harden is a much more intimidating version of Nash, and that takes even more pressure off Clint.

    Great pod guys!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Adam: Block timing… that’s a new one. We need that advanced metric! You’re a numbers guy, get crackin!

Wow, Stoudemire comp… Amare could pop out though, if needed… So much of a more complete player in his prime, but yeah the Rox are pick and rolling with Clint like crazy, no question

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Adam: Phew yeah I kind of avoid Cavs games and Tristan Thompson highlights. Is that even a real thing? But yeah my days of hating on his game have subsided quite a bit with the blocks, now just give us 10 points per again. Please.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Slim: Never gonna happen. 8 would be miracle

        • Adam

          Adam says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Haha, no idea how to actually make that a statistic… watch footage from when Thompson first came into the league – he’s an athletic freak, but he looked extremely clumsy. He’s taken pretty big steps every year to turn from a bust into a very serviceable piece on a championship squad. 1.5 blocks seems fair.

Agreed – I don’t think he even hits 8 points. I suppose it’s conceivable, but I don’t see the team make up changing any time soon.

I think the STAT comparison is close enough to be fair, obviously no pick and pop, but with Harden’s skill set, the jumper isn’t needed. It’s not as if STAT was much of a post guy when he played with Nash.

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Adam: I might still go under 1.5, but even up to 1 is a nice boost.

That Nash STAT combo was mad fun… Ah, the good ol days

  9. Dusty says:
    (link)

Against better judgment, Oladipo for 30.

Is there any trade value in Harrison Barnes? Looks like a lot of empty scoring. 21/6/1/.6/.2/1.5TO with .8 3s. What would you look to get back if you didn’t need the scoring on your team?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Dusty: Whatever I could get at a position of need. Yeah those points are lookin pretty empty. People get so caught up in scoring, the board numbers aren’t terrible, the FT% looks solid, I’d aim for top of 50ish, I’d still take just about any top 75.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Dusty: @Slim: I actually like that bold pick. Semaj is injured at backup PG, and Dipo might play all second unit PG minutes against fast-paced Lakers.

Agree with Slim, I’d take anyone that fits your team needs. Look at the bottom team or two in scoring, and start there

With Crowder and Parsons down I’m left choosing between my bench guys when there’s a full slate… how would you rank this crew ROS?? who’s worth keeping, and who can go when there’s good options on the waiver wire? 9cat roto:

    JRich
    Joe Johnson
    Tony Parker
    JaMychal Green
    Half man 1/8th amazing

I’d say Jrich by far #1 then Kilpatrick, Parker, Green Johnson I think would be my keeps in a vacuum
