    C Roy Hibbert

@HowdyDo: Love the PG depth! Solid stats in reb/Blk. I think the percentages are your main concern – fg% with Burke, Jennings Hayward, Kemba not helping there and ft% Elfrid, deandre, goran, favors not helping there. H2h is variable though, so you could sneak some wins in there so I’m not worried bout it nice team!

  2. Loren says:

Hey man, i love your wisdom. Last year my brother in laws invited me to join their league, i didnt really follow basketball so i thought i was gonna get owned. But i started reading your posts and podcasts and i OWNED everyone, thanks to you.

Quick question: I have (Milsap, Horford and Korver) on my team. Is having 3 guys on the same team going to hurt me alot?

    PG Steph Curry
    SG Kyle Korver
    G Ty Lawson
    SF Kevin Martin
    PF Serge Ibaka
    F Paul Milsap
    C Al Horford
    C Nikola Vucevic
    UTI Ricky Rubio
    BN Jeremy Lin
    BN Jonas Valanciunas

    Thanks Buddy, appreciate your help!

@Loren: Thanks man, I dunno about wisdom, but we try! Glad we help ya own!

Nah, Millsap and Horford both had their best months together last year. You may feel it a little bit this week since the Hawks only have 2 games, but no I’m not worried about it. Really like that team man, get em owned again this year!

  3. Mack says:

10 team H2H with normal scats, just wanting some look into my draft:

    Kevin Love, Cle PF
    Serge Ibaka, OKC PF
    Nicolas Batum, Por SF
    Mike Conley, Mem PG
    Rudy Gay, Sac SF
    Gordon Hayward, Uta SG
    Trevor Ariza, Hou SF
    David West*, Ind PF
    Jose Calderon, NY PG
    Kevin Martin, Min SG
    Eric Gordon, Nor SG
    Josh McRoberts, Mia PF
    Carlos Boozer, LAL PF

    Thanks JB

      (link)

@Mack: Wow, Love Ibaka, love that start! Wish you had a little more PG depth, Conley/Calderon are both solid, just wish you had one or two more. Steals and assists I think are a need, so i might move Gay for a PG or something like that. Any time!

@hisXLNZ: Wow, in an 8 teamer no reason Durant shoulda fallen to 21. Sucks you lost George Hill… In an 8-teamer I’m probably dropping him. FT% will be bad at times with Smith/Jordan/Millsap, but not too dire. Main thing is I’d try for another PG, either off the wire or through trade. Burke/Bledsoe/Knight are all decent, but could use a few more dimes.

  5. ADTrey says:

Would you drop Reggie Jackson for mason Plumlee?

Just had my 14 team h2h auction draft last night, any thoughts on my team? Thanks!

    Victor Oladipo
    Elfred Payton
    Brandon Knight
    Marcus Smart
    Nicolas Batum
    Giannis
    Terrance Jones
    Serge ibaka
    Paul Millsap
    Kelly Olynick
    Larry Sanders
    Jonas Valanciunas

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@LS: Sucks you lost Oladipo! Yeah i think PG depth is really rough for ya. Love your bigs though. If Sanders starts really hot, might move him for a PG. Think your bigger wings/PF are plenty to carry ya in big man stats. Any time!

  7. Jeff with 1 f says:
    (link)

So as per your advise earlier where you thought I should move Klay based on my 3 pt depth and lack of depth at PG …the best offer I got is Lawson and Beal ( out for a month as you know) for Klay…injuries worry me here but might have to risk it.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jeff with 1 f: Oh wow that’s a pretty great offer, I’d def take it man!

@JB Gilpin: yea he’s getting cold feet now..I may have to sweeten the deal a bit

  8. Barenrewn says:
    (link)

    Hey JB!

Found this site last year, and you helped navigate me to the championship. We expanded our league and it is now a 14-team h2h 2 man keeper (whew!) I was wondering if you might give me your two cents on my team. It’s a daily league with 8 roster moves a week so I plan on streaming 1 roster spot all season. I feel like it is definitely missing something, but I’m not sure what. Keep up the great work, and I’ll be reading every morning.

    PG- Kemba Walker
    SG- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
    SF- Draymond Green
    PF/C- Dwight Howard
    PF/C- Derick Favors
    SG/SF- Giannis Antetokkounmpo
    SG/SF- Jimmy Butler
    PG/SG- Brandon Knight
    PF/C- John Henson
    PG/SG- Rodney Stuckey
    SF/PF- Kevin Durant
    1 spot open for streaming

    Thanks!

    • Barenrewn says:
      (link)

@Barenrewn: oh yeah, it’s a points league so cats don’t matter as much and Howard’s horrific FT% shouldn’t tanke my team.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Barenrewn: Yeah man, tough to forget the skull and… baseball bat? Haha, glad we got ya that title!

Ah gotcha, glad it’s a Pts league. Love having Durant! I think the team looking like it’s missing something is psychological because your 2nd player KCP is fine, but not a top end guy, and by far your best player is the last you mention since he’s out. I think it looks pretty good!

  9. A Hill O' Beans says:
    (link)

As I’m listening to this podcast I’ll just throw it out there that not only was I the guy Slim bid up for Nurkic, but I was also the guy he bid up for Steven Adams last year! Thus my #1 goal this year will be to upset Slim in our matchup. Watch yourself Slim!

    [shakes fist in anger]

@A Hill O’ Beans: Hah, didn’t know that! Slim and Mr. Breans, fight to the death!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@A Hill O’ Beans: Wow, Beans* Although Mr. Breans does sound like a cool british gangster

      • A Hill O' Beans says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Is that like the gangster version of Mr. Bean?

I’ve gotta say Kyle O’Quinn, if he can manage to stay out of foul trouble, looks like one of the better players on the Magic. He defends the paint well, rebounds well, displayed a 3 point shot in the preseason, and passes well for a big man too. That he can backup Vuc or play beside him is nice too. Surely they’re gonna find him 20+ minutes even when Frye comes back if he plays well, right?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@A Hill O’ Beans: Yup I think so. Doin well for you in REL. My backup PG playing great though!

          • A Hill O' Beans says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah, I think most of my keepers have been trending up through the preseason. Otto, Monty, Wroten, Mozgov, Burke, Etc. It’s a different story from last preseason where half my team lost their spots in the rotation by the time the season started. Despite having Embid/George I feel like I might be able to compete just by virtue of having almost everyone else actually being in the rotation. High standards for players in this league eh? Does he get on the court every game? Okay, he’s ownable!

I did notice Joseph (who I traded away last year) and Rivers (who I owned for a while for his miserable year last season) both getting it done early here. No Kawhi for you this week though, so that’s a big break for me…

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@A Hill O’ Beans: Haha yeah, I liked the later draft this year. Isaiah Canaan looks like he’s out of the rotation already haha. F Jason Terry! Yeah no Kawhi is gonna hurt a lot.

  10. Fantasy Newb says:
    (link)

Ryan Anderson 4-15 so far in his first game in a looong time. That gets better I assume?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Fantasy Newb: Why you can’t overreact too early! Just got ridiculously hot. So you assumed correctly!

      • Fantasy Newb says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Haha true, true. AD with 72.5 points in my format (3 for blocks/steals). You are a god.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Fantasy Newb: Whewwwwwwwwwwwww, tough to beat that kind of start!

  11. jcg says:
    (link)

So glad hoops is back! Who do you think has the biggest overall upside for later this year? I have Otto, KCP and Elfrid

FAs: Foye, Kendall Marshall, Copeland, Teletovic, CJ Miles, Gobert, Lamb, Napier, Hood

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@jcg: Yessir, me too man! I think the 3 you have clearly has the most upside. Teletovic is up there compared to the guys avail, but he really only hits 3s and boards a tiny. Gobert up there too for blocks/REB.

  12. KD Owner says:
    (link)

hey guys. i have oladipo, mcw, durant, and frye who are injured. which is shit but i got pretty value in a 14 team h2h league with milsap and horford in 2nd and 3rd round.

i’m not dropping durant… i want to hold oladipo and mcw but don’t know how long i can hold off… maybe see how much i’m losing by in a week or two? or is that too late? should I drop frye? there’s nobody really on the wire.

    thanks! love your guys’ work

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@KD Owner: Definitely can’t drop those top 3, so yeah I’d have to drop Frye. I know he has upside for those sweet, sweet out of position treys, but you need some warm bodies. If no big names stick out, I’d use that spot to stream, going for cats at the end of the week.

      • KD Owner says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: on the wire there is brewer, matt barnes, sessions, MKG. any of those worth a pick up? otherwise i will be alert to stream. ‘preciate it

    • KD Owner says:
      (link)

      @KD Owner: daily league 🙁

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@KD Owner: Daily League is good for streaming! Yeah I’d stream one of them for tomo then go from there, probably start with Sessions

  13. fifanatic says:
    (link)

Thoughts on Steven Adams getting the starting job? Thinking of picking him up, but here’s my current team (12 team, 9 cat, H2H):

    PG Stephen Curry
    SG Goran Dragic
    G Ricky Rubio
    SF Andrew Wiggins
    PF Paul Millsap
    F Greg Monroe
    C John Henson
    C Gorgui Dieng
    Util Jrue Holiday
    Util Brandon Knight
    Bench Andrew Bogut
    Bench Wilson Chandler
    Bench Otto Porter, Jr.

Thanks for any tips on my team, too!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@fifanatic: Yeah I’d grab him for Chandler! I already had him ranked higher thinking he’d play useful minutes. Overall, absolutely love the PG depth, think you’re low in boards. I think henson and Dieng will block enough, but Monroe is your only real set in stone big boarder (Millsap a tad too). Making me want Adams for Chandler even more. Thanks for stopping by!

      • fifanatic says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
Thanks! Everyone is off waivers tomorrow, so I put in a claim for Adams dropping Chandler. I’ll look for other potential guys to swap in for more boards if that fails, the feedback is much appreciated.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

          @fifanatic: Any time man!

  14. fields says:

Need some help with trades. First time playing. 12 man draft, 8 cat roto.

    PG Conley
    SG Harden
    SF Deng
    PF Millsap
    C Lopez
    G Jrue Holiday PG
    F Tim Duncan PF, C
    Util Darren Collison PG
    Util Paul Pierce SF, PF
    Util Jameer Nelson PG

    Bench
    Greek Freak
    Mason Plumlee
    Kent C-Pope

I’m getting spooked by Lopez and thinking about trading for Marc Gasol or Pau Gasol. What would be some fair/good trades for them?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@fields: Yeah I’m scared of BroLo too. Brolo+KCP for Pau? He’s a little cheaper than Marc. KCP has some buzz, but a big part of his game is he never turns the ball over which doesn’t help in Roto.

      • fields says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: I’m trying to get a good feel for trading up in fantasy basketball. What is a consensus second rounder like LaMarcus Aldridge worth? If I offered Brolo+Jrue, who gets the better end of that?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@fields: Yeah it’s definitely tough, not in love with your PG depth if you lost Jrue, but I think I’d do the deal of Aldridge owner is willing.

    12 Team 9 Cat league
    My team is
    Dragic
    jrue holiday
    batum
    melo
    ibaka
    favors
    bogut
    mason plumlee
    ariza
    wiggins
    trey burke
    kanter
    wroten
sessions (just picked him up for henry sims)
I’m debating on trying to trade ibaka for lillard at this time. Your thoughts? Is it wise move?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@yokev_o: I would hold onto Ibaka for sure. Your blocks aren’t that good without him where as I think your assists are just fine. You would be adding points and 3s too, both of which aren’t spectacular for your team but they are much easier to find than Ibaka’s 2.5+ blocks. Also with all the injuries to OKC Ibaka’s role on offense should be much greater.

      • Yokev_o says:
        (link)

@Slim: thanks slim! I’ll follow the advice and stick with ibaka

  16. decaf says:
    (link)

With Julius Randle looking like he’ll be out for a while, is Ed Davis worth a pick-up in a 10-team league? 12-team?

This also means I can’t drop Jordan Hill now for just anyone, right?

A bit off-tangent question: what’s your stance on pending trades where one of the players gets injured while awaiting approval or veto? This is currently happening in one of my leagues with Randle, and I think a veto is in order, but of course, there’s an argument for holding up the deal once both parties accept the trade.

    Thanks as always!

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@decaf: I doubt Ed Davis does too much in a league that size. I expect to see Boozer/Hill for the most part and Davis the first big off the bench. One thing I think this does is it should put RKelly back in the rotation once he’s healthy.

I let those trades go through. Whatever happens after the trade is accepted is just part of the game.

  17. PORKFOOT says:
    (link)

curious what you would do with George Hill if you had a team with one IR slot and KD already taking it up. I like using the waiver wire to stream counting stats but I was pretty condident he would be playing a lot better this year with the ball in his hands a lot more.

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@PORKFOOT: Depends on how big you bench is and your matchups for the next 3 weeks, “at least”. With an IR slot that means you only have 1 injured guy taking up space. I usually hold off dropping in that case.
