Great job boys, I’m thoroughly enjoying the podcasts! I’ll spread the word amongst my hoop friends in Australia

I’ve been reading plenty on Kawhi’s value the past few weeks and I’m not quite sure how to rank him in a super shallow league (7 teamer). I had him towards the end of last season when he was putting up stupid numbers, with the other big three getting plenty of rest pre-playoffs.

Also, I recall @Slim saying that if Ty stays healthy, he MAY be a top 6 pg. Curious as to who he’d have on that list, aside from CP and Steph. When Jrue was healthy for me last season, he was great and I’m hoping he returns to form once again

@Lasandro: Thanks man! Where we stand on getting Patty to hop in the show? Haha.

I would think he’s still a 3rd rounder, I love Kawhi in real life, but minutes/usage still scare me a little since it’s the same team.

Def with ya on Jrue. Ty would have to pass Lillard I think, for me Curry, Paul, Wall, Westbrook, then Damian a very tentative 5. I think breaking past Damian into the top 5 is within reach of any of those top PG going in the third if they have a breakout.

      Good seein ya!

@Lasandro: I think we saw a little bit of the changing of the guard in San Antonio during the playoffs. I feel pretty good about Kawhi getting top 20 value and he has all the tools to be a 1st rounder, he just needs the usage, which has climbed significantly since his rookie season. When you look at his per-36s you can see every single category going up each year. I think he can continue on the same path. I am a little troubled by all the missed games but he’s too young to get any kind of injury prone label. In a 7-teamer I like him anywhere in the 3rd.

So the top 4 PGs, Curry, Paul, Wall, Westbrook are in a separate class as everyone else. For me it’s because of the 8ish assists and over 1.5 steals. The other 2 who fit this profile are Rondo and Rubio but they have issues with scoring, with 3s, with a percent so I don’t think they are in the same class. Last year Lawson hit those 2 numbers and with a career high in points, unfortunately it came with a career low FG% and a career high TOs. A lot of this could be contributed to his ankle issue which granted is still a major question mark. His 1st half numbers were significantly better than his 2nd half. If Lawson gets his FG% back up to career levels and replicates last years assist/steal totals then he will be the #5 PG.

Jrue was on pace last year for 8 assists, 1.6 steals which would have put him in the conversation too. More injury concerns of course and if either him or Lawson doesn’t look right in the preseason then I am going to be passing on both.

@JB Gilpin @Slim appreciate the feedback boys. Im thinking that no one in my league is gonna pick him up in the third round, as his numbers aren’t as “dynamic” as some of the other wings out there. Kinda like how I used my first round pick (the very last of the round) to pick up PG, then my second round pick to grab me AD. That turned out ok for me, So thanks for the tip! I’m also assuming that Kawhi should only be drafter in the third if a solid big and PG have been taken in the previous 2, yes?

As far as volume vs total value is concerned with the bigs, I also think of guys like Al and Trillsap being ranked a touch higher than a 20/10 guy like DMC or Big Al. Is there such a large descrepency between the ATL frontcourt and these guys?

Yeah I’ve never been that high on Lillard as my number 1 PG option, but I get why he’s in the convo. Same with Russ, but the fact that he racks up steals and good boards for a PG certainly curtails his lack in some other areas. Got no complaints against Paul, Curry or Wall and I’d be happy nabbin any one of them.

Speaking of top 5 PGs @JB Gilpin, I recently just moved to Vietnam to pursue a new career and only JUST missed out on Patty Mills and Aaron Baynes visiting my hometown (Canberra) on their championship tour down under, Larry OBrien Trophy and all. My best friend (who’s one of Patty’s best friends – go figure) was on tour with him, taking photos and such. I called him up while he was sitting next to him on a bus and told him to say wattup. I heard Patty in the back sayin “oh yeah, I remember that guy! Wattup”. Next time, I’ll mention y’all 😉

Now please upload another podcast because it’s become my favourite thing to listen to maneuvering through this damn Saigon traffic on my way to work.. End of dck sucking.

@Lasandro: Yeah I’d definitely want one of the elite bigs and PGs to pair with him, but at the same time in a shallower league, you can still get really good PG and big depth afterwards so it wouldn’t be the end of the world if you didn’t get one of each first.

I don’t think there’s a big descrapancy at all, the Hawks guys with DMC are all bunchy in that second round, but I like DMC the best for both the volume and multi-cat-goodness.

Haha damn man, sucks you had to leave your crew behind! We’re hoping to do Pods once a week until we’re closer to the season, we’ll amp it up during preseason and such. Thanks for listenin man, glad they’re coming out aight!

@JB Gilpin: I’m going to completely contradict what I just said on the podcast but in a league that shallow your depth is so good that taking the top player available in the 1st couple of rounds is probably the way to go. Although to be perfectly honest I’ve never played in a league shallower than a 12er.

Those 2nd round bigs are all really close. I’ve seen Horford much lower though so he could turn into a steal a round or even 2 later than we have him. For me Cousins is a touch higher than the others. 20/10 with the steals and blocks. I think he’s a 1st rounder where as the others are 2nd.

Dang, I wanna hold the Larry O’Brian trophy. Gotta watch out though, those guys do some strange things to those trophies. A neighbor of mine was the boat captain for Greg Norman back when he was winning the British Open and the stories he tells about the Claret Jug… I don’t think I should repeat them here but let’s just say I wouldn’t touch that thing if someone paid me to.

@Slim: yeah I had a feeling what you said on the podcast had nothing to do with my shallow ass league haha! I picked demar up in the 6 or 7th round last year and he was a pleasant suprise. But you’re right in saying that there’ll be some sweet picks out there in such a league.. But it’ll obviously depend on who I pick up earlier.

Haha that’s awesome – The Shark was obviously an icon back in Oz. But I seriously doubt that Patty and the Brady bunch spurs would even have dirty thoughts let alone disgrace the LO trophy. Diaw may put out a cigarette in it, but that’d be the extent of it
