Mo ranks, mo problems!  But not Mo Williams…  Slim and JB go through ranks 11-50 including a high ranking sophomore, the gap in mid-range PG, and why Slim is going to name his first born son Derrick Favors.  Slim loves his Jazz!  We also get to some mid-range sleepers that broke into the top 50, and (in Slim’s opinion) a glaring omission.

You guys were talking about other sites ranks, on ESPN if you assume draft position #3, you could get Harden (3) Gobert (24) and Draymond (32) in your first 3 picks. LOLZ. Meanwhile Carmelo is 11th. AND PEOPLE PAY FOR ESPN INSIDERS?!?!?!?!?

    • Jensen says:

@Jensen: Also I demand a rankings that factors in salary.

haha! only a couple of sites for fantasy bball for me. razz being one of em. just went to spotrac.com and if im correct, some notable players playing for contract this coming season are kd, horford, drummond, whiteside, conley, tjones, clarkson, noah, batum, al jeff, valanciunas, hibbert, joe johnson and wade.

@Jensen: Hahahaha, yeah ESPN ranks looked awful, Slim commented on that too. Well we’ll be doing auction values that count?!

@MAC: Yeah Drummo and Whiteside I think are the big ones with big variables. A lot of those vets will get big deals even if they’re awful. Maybe not Joe Johnson haha… Valanciunas and TJones are both great ones to watch too

          • Jensen says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Auction values aren’t so much help seeing as we snake draft after our keepers. But I’m set up for another good year with Dame, Whiteside, and VUC as my keepers. But I’ll need to replace Dame and Whiteside as they are both about to price themselves out of our league.

Yeah this years cap space is funny. With every team getting the extra $20M to spend on top of expiring contracts, I think Valanciunas will land 100M and TJones close to 65-75M. It’s weird times. Of course then BroLo is going to get on twitter and rant about how Whiteside and Valanciunas are making the same as him. SHEESH, you’d think 18M would be enough to be content with.

Man I don’t know, I don’t think ESPN ranks ever really fix themselves (Just my experience with baseball mostly and some with basketball). I think they always overvalue name recognition and like you talked about with RJaxx, the 3-cat players with the trip-dub that gets you nothing in fantasy. Even when you look at experts rankings I think Razz blows away other sites in picking up on the next tier of guys coming up. #OccupyDraymond damn that 80M extension, going to miss him and RJaxx on my team.

Hah yeah crazy players are complaining over their millions. Wahhhhhh!

I actually didn’t do a single ESPN league for the first time in years last year. Agree, they love their popcorn stats and household names. So weird. I guess they want more the layman players vs. the good ones.

              Hah, yessir #Occupy forever!

@Jensen: yea man it’s crazy, but it’s likely to change before people start drafting but I hope they F it up a bit so my league drafts fs up the draft as well LMAO

After listening to this, I’m definitely considering taking Wiggins 2nd-3rd round, especially if I get an ultra-reliable guy early in the first. I already like him so much in real life so it didn’t take much convincing. Do you guys have his stats for maybe post all star break last season?
Also where can I see overall totals/per game ranks from last season? I looked but couldn’t find them.

    • Jensen says:
      (link)

@CTMN: RotoMonster. You can search by player and it will break down 9cat, 8cat, per game, per 36, and totals. Pretty nice. You can also see breakdowns over the last few games, weeks, and months. I’d start there.

@CTMN: Woooo, yeah let’s do this Wiggy!

Post ASB – 20/4.9/2.3/0.9/0.7. 2.5 TO. Big one for me was 6.2-7.9 FT for 78.3%. I get pre/post ASB stats on Yahoo, in splits: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/5292/splits/

@Jensen: Yeah RotoMonster is a tool, I’m partial to Basketball Monster, where you can click on rankings, then output stats just like rotomonster does

@JB Gilpin: Wow that’s pretty good, and like you guys said, some of it was with Martin in the lineup too. I’m surprised only 0.9 steals but I bet he can get over a steal and a block a game…I’m sooooo talking myself into this, he’ll be a first rounder for me by October lol

@CTMN: Yup I can see the over 1 in those stats too – luckily I don’t think you have to use a 1st and can get him in all 2nds!

Great stuff as usual. I would add Lillard into the conversation with Wiggins and Oladipo about leading the league in minutes. I know there are fears of blowouts but Portland is completely dependent on Dame offensively that I could see him going over 40 minutes in games semi-regularly.

I’m a biased Jazz fan but I’m with Slim flipping Favors and Whiteside. He’s a solid glue guy across the board, somewhat like Rudy Gay is but as a big man. If you want the upside, you can gamble on Whiteside but he’s only going to be a 3 category guy even if he pans out. If you took some higher upside guys early or want the certainty, I’m going Favors no question. Hayward might need a slight bump up with Exum out but he’s surrounded by bigs in your rankings so a chance doesn’t really mean much.

I like the aggressive Gallo rating. I’m a sucker for him, I’ve taken him pretty much every year I’ve done fantasy basketball but this just seems like the perfect spot for him to explode. Hopefully the guys in my league don’t see this so I can get him at an affordable price in our auction.

      JB Gilpin says:

@Slim Charles: Thanks for listening man! Yeah Lillard is def on the short list there too.

Agree with you and Slim (wait, two Slims now?!?!?! haha. but yeah you know I def the ref.) that Whiteside is more 3-cat, but I like the upside. But yeah, if I already had a blocker – maybe Gobert given the rank – Favors looks better.

I’ve actually never owned Gallinari. True story. This will be the year I’m all in. This is his year!

        @JB Gilpin:

Haha, I normally post as Viz on here but we had a conversation on twitter so I went with my twitter handle so you knew it’s the same person. Crazy that you’ve never owned him. As long as he can keep the FG% between 41-42%, he’s going to be an animal. The FT volume alone with the 3’s is massive.

@Slim Charles: Ah gotcha man! Yeah I just passed on the high(er) pricetag when he was mainly 3s, and obviously not getting him when hurt, so this is my year to go full italian!
