We’re back with the free agency edition of the Razzball Hoops Pod, where we chat up all of the big moves since the window has opened with DeAndre Jordan‘s decision, Greg Monroe‘s value in Milwaukee, and some sleeper candidates with an open window like C.J. McCollum. Now with extra phlegm in his name! We also talk some other upside guards like where D’Angelo Russell will rank and the possibility of Pierre Jackson starting for the Sixers.

Cory Josephs Stl/36 for the last three seasons: 1.4/1.3/1.1. Not great, but not sub-1 either. Mind you, combined with the sub-1 3s/36 I worry a little about him as a fantasy starter.
@Fenris-77: Yeah his great %s and low TO wouldn’t make up quite enough for that, but if he was locked in a starting role all year, I’d imagine he would be 90ish or so. Boring but usable.
@Fenris-77: Yeah that downward trend is worrisome. In his 14 starts last year he was at 0.6 steals in 34 min. That kind of tells me he’s probably gotten most of his steals in garbage time vs backups. I also assume the downward trend means he’s becoming a better defender by not gambling for steals. None of this is good for us. With a full time job I would expect the downward trend of steals to continue but I would also assume he takes more 3s in Toronto’s offense since outside shooting is something I think they need more of, esp if Lowry goes down.
I’m sticking with Jarrett Jack as the closest comp. I hate to do it but Joseph is one of those guys I label ‘better real life player than fantasy’.
@Fenris-77: @Slim: Ugh, yeah I didn’t want to say Jarrett Jack, but Slim did it for me. Bleh
JB and/or Slim,
Your hate for MCW is well documented, however, I play in a 10-team salary cap league where the league cap is more or less the same as the actual NBA cap. Since MCW is getting paid pennies compared to every other starting PG, would you consider him in this league?
P.S. I will probably punt TO, I have won the league both years thus far finishing last (as in highest) in TO both times and I imagine that would be part of your answer.
@Jensen: Hah, well I thought he’d be pretty good last yr and it HURT! Haha.
Def helps his value a ton in that format still on the rookie deal, and with punting TO it helps even more. It obviously depends on the who you’d be avoiding, but one potential issue I see is PT. Vasquez is going to get some run, especially in cold MCW nights. I could see them both being sub-30 min guys,
@Jensen: Yep, pretty good format and plan with him. And I do expect some growth with Kidd at the helm and a healthy offseason unlike last year. I agree there will be some annoying games where Vasquez gets more run but I wouldn’t let it effect your decision, especially if you believe MCW is going to show solid improvement.
@Jensen: On a side note, how does Alexy Shved not have a job? And Rondo got 10 MILLION?!?! That’s messed up.
@Jensen: don’t be surprised, it’s the kings that’s messed up. LMAO
@Dante Green: @Jensen: Hah that’s a pretty good point! The Kings must be hoping for Rondo circa 2010 or something. Either that or they want the worst TO prone lineup as possible to tank!
@Jensen: “Your hate for MCW is well documented”
Now JB, if you told me 8 months ago that someone would make that comment I’d have laughed you off this site. Either that or I’d tell you that he spelled
unhealthy obsessive lustlove wrong. What a difference a season makes!@A Hill O’ Beans: @Jensen: Haha, yeah things change man! But hey, if he was still on the Sixers I could still seeing being OK with him. As like a later round guy, this year I’m not touching
@JB Gilpin: Don’t do it JB! Just so no! Or better yet, repeat after me…
“I will not pick him in a house, I will not draft him with a mouse, I will not select him in a mock, i will not take him over Rick Fox, I will not trade for him if he played here or there, I will not own him anywhere, I do not like
green eggs and hamMichael Carter Williams, I do not like him JB I am”@A Hill O’ Beans: Hahahahaha, I will write that 50 times on the chalkboard as well! I’m in fantasy detention…
Where do you think George Hill will go in standard 9 cat formats? Good FG%, low TOs, good treys, decent assists, 4 boards, will score points, a steal, and good fts. what’s not to like?
Am I the only one excited about his value next year???
@Khang: Well the one thing not to like is George is back and Monta Ellis is now in the backcourt. Usage is likely to go way down. Ummmm, 70s sounds about right? I don’t think I could go much higher than that, which I think will have me right about average – he was fantastic last year, but everyone back aboard will make his second half tough to replicate.
Thanks for droppin by man!
