No no no, that’s not some sort of euphemism for not flushing… Victor Oladipo had a unreal game last night, almost giving the Magic enough to beat the Bulls in tres overtime. ¬†I watched this game and was making all sorts of Oladipo highlights slashing to the rim. ¬†Ended up with a 35/4/8/3/1 line shooting 15-24 with a trey. ¬†Career-high alert! ¬†And it wasn’t due to the minutes (58), he only scored 2 in the 3 OTs I believe. ¬†Did boost his dimes by a few though… A guy I was extremely steadfast about holding onto and buying low is paying out your quarterly dividends. ¬†Well, it would be more like bi-weekly dividends, but if a stock did that I want in! ¬†The 8 TOs last night was a bugaboo, but just part of VO’s game. ¬†He’s going to continue to get these big minutes and touches for the duration. ¬†Pumped to see him finish out his rookie of the year campaign. ¬†Here’s what else I saw in a busy night of NBA hoops:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Leandro Barbosa had a really good run in the 2000’s, captaining the Black Pearl, slashing to the basket with some great drives – just like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was all-around fun to watch in his prime. ¬†After a decline in Leandro’s play, he was shipped to Toronto for some turkey named Hedo Turkoglu. ¬†Barbosa averaged nearly 13 Pts a game north of the border in two seasons, but then he was constantly asea with stints with the Pacers and Celtics before tearing his ACL in February last year. ¬†And man, did that injury make him look attractive to the Wizards, who traded for him in a salary move. ¬†Never playing for the Wizards and not getting any deals in the offseason, Barbosa looked stranded on the Isla de Muerta. ¬†But some rum runners and/or braiding human hair from his back to lash together sea turtles got him back to civilization and re-signed by his former Suns a week ago. ¬†After three meh games, Barbosa broke out with a 21/3/2 game last night. ¬†Commodore Barbosa! ¬†Bootstraps’ bootstraps! ¬†He stayed on the court just over 30 minutes, and was infinitely better scoring the ball than Gerald Green, who shot 2-16. ¬†Labradoodle alert! ¬†No need to Geoffrey Rush to the wire in 10-teamers or 12-teamers, unless you’ve got a banged up squad in 12-team and only need points. ¬†He’s a little interesting in deeper leagues though. ¬†Mainly because he’ll get minutes, get shots, and will breakout on cold Green nights. ¬†Here’s what else I saw last night across the Caribbean:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Man… It just hasn’t been the best few years for Kris Humphries… ¬†The divorce. ¬†The loss of a starting job. ¬†Traded as a dump to Boston. ¬†But he’s actually been a pretty decent fantasy player lately, including getting a surprise starting nod last night, fairly under-the-radar. ¬†Unfortunately, none-a-dat-matters when watching last night’s game! ¬†Man, talk about lucking out with the games I got this week, as I had Yahoo highlights for the Celtics at Clippers, and the now-infamous “Welcome to my Poster” dunk. ¬†Just dirty from Blake Griffin. ¬†If you didn’t see¬†where I cut the highlight, right after Ralph Lawler says “over, and over, and over…” it cuts back to Humphries who gives the easiest to lip read F bomb you could imagine. ¬†Hilarious! ¬†I lost my cookies all over the office. ¬†I shoulda put “And-one” on the highlight too, but my face melted. ¬†Getting back to fantasy, Blake can have his own poster this year, producing at a great rate and a great pick even for the unknowledgable NBA fan in your league who reached for him for the highlights. ¬†As I mentioned a month or so back, Griffin has been really good this year capped off with a 29/6/8/2/0/highlight of the year line last night. ¬†He showed us why fantasy hoops is underrated in the fantasy community. ¬†It beats football by actually requiring skill and not small-sample luck, and gives us the best highlights to shove it in the face of baseball. ¬†“Oh look, I had Ryan Howard on my team and he actually hit a homer, look at this moon shot!” ¬†“Pssshhhh, I had Blake in today and look at him murder Kris Humphries!” ¬†(full disclaimer I love fantasy baseball). ¬†Enjoy the ride if you nabbed Blake. ¬†Here’s what else happened last night in the NBA:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Pretty much anyone involved in the big Rudy Gay trade has gotten nothing but positive return except Greivis Vasquez. ¬†Poor Vasquez… And easily the biggest winner right now is Isaiah Thomas just going off with the backcourt to himself, going 29/6/2 on Friday night and 19/2/8 last night. ¬†With both PGs there in Shaq-ramento to start the year, it was like the first Terminator, then IT2 got flipped into the main good guy and it’s movie magic in the sequel. ¬†Coach Mike Malone even came out and said Thomas is gonna lead the NBA in minutes. ¬†Iron man! ¬†Well I guess it would be hyperalloy combat chassis covered by living human tissue man… I wish Vasquez had never gone to Sacramento, because as I mentioned last week, I aggressively ranked Thomas early in the summer. ¬†I love this kid. ¬†He’s going to be extremely tough to go out and trade for right now, and I certainly would not be selling. ¬†He’s got both Gay and DeMarcus Cousins to dish to, plus he’s a fantastic scorer. ¬†I have all sorts of IT2 regret now since he’s not on any of my teams… Womp womp… Here’s what else went down over the weekend:Please, blog, may I have some more?
I hate you Larry Drew. ¬†First you go and make your son Larry Drew II feel like he’s some sort of special talent and have him quit UNC, then you take over a Bucks team that all want to leave too. ¬†Why do I have so much invested in the Bucks?! ¬†I hate the Bucks! ¬†In a game where the Spurs doubled Milwaukee’s points in the first quarter (32 to 16), then went up by 23 at halftime, then after 3 were up 38, Drew decided to kill fantasy teams by playing their F-team virtually the whole second half. ¬†As in, a D-League team could beat those guys. ¬†Brandon Knight¬†got 18 minutes after an impressive game two nights ago. ¬†John Henson¬†got 21 after the huge breakout. ¬†O.J. Mayo, yes that terrible, horrible, not gelling on this awful team O.J. Mayo led the starters with 22 minutes on a 3/0/0/0/0 line with a TO. ¬†Ok, ok, so Drew let his scrubs play in the blowout, good to see Giannis Antetokounmpo get some development time at just over 33 minutes, but the icing on the cake was Drew gave¬†Ersan Ilyasova, a guy that looks like a humanoid Turkey, 39 minutes?! ¬†How is that developing young talent?! ¬†Ersan goes out and shoots 3-16 for an 8/6/2 game. ¬†The Bucks are the worst. ¬†You’re holding Henson obviously and Knight I think you stick with, but I don’t want any of these other guys on a 12-teamer. ¬†I know I like Khris Middleton, but he was part of the starting mess and I just dropped Mayo in some sort of RCL travesty I should probably take my name off of. ¬†I still think Knight, Mayo, Middleton and Henson are locked in as starters for now, but man, I really hope they look good facing the even worse Bulls again on Friday. ¬†Enough ranting from me! ¬†Here’s what else I saw last night in fantasy hoops:Please, blog, may I have some more?
In Shaq-ramento, when Christmas carolers sing at your doorstep, if it’s deck the halls you must insist a free a Rudy Gay jersey! You better believe Sleep Train Arena is gonna deck their halls with Gay apparel. ¬†That is, if it has power. ¬†Zing! ¬†Last night, the Kings picked up Gay from the Raptors in a 7-player deal with a lot more fantasy impact than just the players involved. ¬†The Kings also picked up Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy, for the fewest letters in three surnames you could ever receive in a three-player haul. ¬† In return, Greivis Vasquez, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes got exported to Canada. ¬†I hope they have winter wear! ¬†Instead of going over all of the impact in the open, it’ll be fettered out and we’ll focus on Gay at the top. ¬†Nothing changes. ¬†Brevity! ¬†Lots of shots, the Kings don’t become any better or worse, but get a good all-around player. ¬†The fantasy impact on Gay seems null. ¬†The trade overall I think it a win-win, both in real hoops and in fantasy. ¬†The Kings dumped guys that don’t really help their rotations for a star, and the Raptors break up their two high-volume shots guys with it not working. ¬†Plus the Raptors are looking to rebuild around the Luminescent Lithuanian. ¬†Then all sorts of fantasy optimism below, along with other action across the NBA over the weekend:Please, blog, may I have some more?
My lead yesterday was about a weekend of injuries, and as much as I wanted to stay away from injuries in today’s open, there’s just way too many. ¬†Like that pilot in the Return of the Jedi when they attack the new Death Star. ¬†“There’s too many of them!” ¬†Sorry in advance Jake VZ – but I think the lead is Bradley Beal reportedly aggravating his leg injury and at the time of this post in the wee hours of the morning, the Wizards fear a prolonged absence. ¬†Beal hurt the same leg with a broken fibula last year that ended his season prematurely. ¬†In both my longer blurb in my top 100 and in my top 200 I tried to say I was worried, and only ended up with him on my autodrafted team. ¬†By now, news has hit his little news icon on Yahoo and ESPN, so it’s going to be a little tough to sell at full price or even a slight discount if you’re hitting the panic button. ¬†I’m worried myself. ¬†I’m running in with Jodie Foster and a weird, gothy, tween Kristen Stewart into my Panic Room. ¬†More precise news should come out today, but if for some reason you were about to cut Martell Webster, hold the phone and keep my boy. ¬†I have been told I have too many “boys”. ¬†But I like Webster a lot! ¬†And called him a must add a few weeks back. ¬†Trevor Ariza is also back and starting tonight, and the mere fact they’re not easing him in off the bench has me thinking his hammy must be doing pretty well. ¬†Both Ariza and Webster are looking at big minutes for a stretch, and John Wall will continue to have this big offensive upside he’s shown in the past two games. ¬†Here’s what else went down in the wide world of fantasy hoops last night:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Sooooo… Last night just happened. ¬†It was the wildest night of fantasy hoops that I could ever remember. ¬†Sure my memory isn’t exactly like Ken Jennings, but yea… Definitely going to break the “what the hey?!” record! ¬†The Fantasy Basketball world just stood still. ¬†It was just like the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. ¬†Is that Keanu Reeves? ¬†What is Jaden Smith doing here? ¬†Wait, is this an actual plot? ¬†There’s just too much crazy to care about these special effects! ¬†There were like, a million three pointers last night. ¬†Tony Wroten had a triple double. ¬†Ok, who had Wroten in the triple-double pool? ¬†I think if you had bet on that in Vegas you coulda turned a dollar into owning the state of Nevada. ¬†18/10/11 while shooting 7-18. ¬†A lot of Philly stats got boosted by the Rockets pace, and if you hadn’t heard yet,¬†Michael Carter-Williams¬†was a very late scratch with a sore foot. ¬†What are they feeding these guards in Philly? ¬†I think it’s obvious that to be a good NBA PG you must diet solely on cheesesteaks. ¬†But enough meandering, let’s go straight into the nitty gritty, the CGI effects if you will, for the reason why you’re here:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Well…¬†Larry Sanders¬†hasn’t had the best few weeks… ¬†The Colonel held his injuries from the field surgeon just long enough to keep hope alive in his troops, but had to undergo the knife to repair his thumb and will be out 6 weeks. ¬†Was it from a punch, the champagne bottle, or just getting too close in the delivery room? ¬†No one will ever know. ¬†Talk about easily the biggest fantasy bust this season thus far. ¬†With no IR spot, drop this dude. ¬†Zaza Pachulia is now a big pickup for anyone needing big man stats. ¬†Za/Za is such a good Scrabble play! ¬†Definitely a go-to for 60+ point moves on the triples. ¬†If you have the cajones to challenge me in Words With Friends, hit me up (user ID: Jbronze). ¬†But if I smell any Word Gen, I’ma publicly smite you! ¬†Oh yeah, hoops, John Henson gets a big boost as well looking at consistent run. ¬†But beware Henson’s terrible FT shooting and prepare thusly. ¬†Speaking of thusly, herebe the NBA beings-all I saw last fortnight (wait, doesn’t that mean like 20 days ago? ¬†Eh you know what I meant):Please, blog, may I have some more?
In a light slate of games, there were two premiere matchups with the Knicks at Celtics and Clippers at Mavericks. ¬†What game do I get highlights for? ¬†Timberwolves at Pistons. ¬†C’mon Gary! ¬†J.J. Barea looked good! ¬†Sigh.
The Knicks took care of the Celtics and apparently after being compared to Stevie Nicks in a major sports media outlet, have started playing like a team atop the East again. ¬†In the West, The Mavs needed overtime to knock off the Clippers with both Chris Paul and Dirk Nowitzki putting up 33 a piece. ¬†“Whatever you can do, I can do equal!” ¬†How communistic.
Let’s go through the noteworthy fantasy¬†performances¬†last night:Please, blog, may I have some more?
