Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

With six minutes left in the fourth last night, David Lee gave Roy Hibbert a little sucker shove that spawned a fracas that would have made Ron Artest (excuse me Metta World Peace) proud.  Tangent – how can athletes just change their names like that?  Getting pretty ridiculous.  They should just change their names a few times a year and get a percentage of jersey sales.  Imagine Chris Andersen changing his name to “Birdman” at the beginning of the season, then changing it again halfway through the season to, “You best stay away Chris Hansen“.  But I digress.  After Lee and Hibbert got separated, Stephen Curry tried to body up on ol’ RoyRoy and it didn’t go so well.  Even down 11, Curry had torn up the Pacers for 33 at that point, keeping what would have otherwise been a blowout a watchable game.  What ended up being one of the best MMA moments of the NBA season didn’t factor into the game much, as the Pacers still ran away with it after Hibbert’s ejection.  Luckily Curry was able to finish the game with an incredible line of 38 Pts 7 3PM 2 Rebs 4 Asts 3 Stls 1 Blk 4 Broken Cheek Bones and 0 Ankle Injuries.  Just kidding about the cheek bones.  I made every Curry owner gasp there for a second.  Let’s take a look at the other performances last night in the NBA:

Fake Out! Quick Public Service Announcement that the wondrous Razzball social media experience on the Book of Face has acid-trip melted into a conglomeration of fantasy goodness across all fantasy sports.  Shoot us a Like on Facebook and keep up with us while you dominate your friends across all your fantasy leagues.

Dwyane Wade Continues to be on fire NBA Jam-style for the Heat.  Lots of flaming things.  Kinda like the audience for the upcoming Paul Rudd rom-com.  Seriously Rudd?  You couldn’t find a better role than being sexually awkward with Tina Fey?  Wade couldn’t hit the fadeaway to win it in regulation though, as the Heat need two extra frames to knock off the Kings.  It just meant more fantasy gravy for Wade going 19-28 FG 39 Pts (season high) 8 Rebs 7 Asts 3 Stls and 2 Blks for his best fantasy line on the year.  Tony Montana wouldn’t call that a fantasy line he’d call it a fantasy mound.

Marcus Thornton – The reason the Kings actually took the Heat to Double OT, with a superb line of 11-18 FG 8 3PM and a season-high 36 Pts.  Not going to get those scoring bursts often.

Spencer Hawes - 6 Pts and 1 Reb in 21 minutes.  Even Sixers coach Doug Collins called out the big fellah playin’ not so big. With Bynum working his way back and a team in dysfunction, I have no problem cutting him.

Tobias Harris - 7-9 FG 16 Pts 7 Rebs 2 Asts 1 Stl and 1 Blk in 31 minutes off the bench for his new team in Orlando.  As I Nostradamus-ed , the rebuilding Magic are going to see what they have in their newly acquired rookie PF, giving him 25 minutes in his debut then 31 last night.  If you need a guy for some big man stats in deeper leagues, Harris is out there virtually everywhere.

Kirk Hinrich - Returned to action with 11 Pts and 11 Asts (also 6 Rebs 1 Stl and 1 Blk) last night in a home loss to Cleveland without Kyrie Irving.  9 of those points were on 3′s, and he couldn’t score without being wide open.  It didn’t seem he was facilitating that well either and was tripping and falling all over the place like Jennifer Lawrence.  OK, OK, so it’s different for Hinrich, I know – he’s not ever going to win any awards!

Nate Robinson - If he indeed had a Schmohawk, he’s actually be 5-feet tall.  Returned to the bench with Hinrich’s return and only put up 5 Pts and 2 Rebs in 15 minutes.

E’Twaun Moore - Is getting the PG minutes while Jameer gets a pap smear.  Had 12 Pts and 11 Asts last night giving him 33.3 minutes, 12.0 Pts and 7.3 Asts in the past 3.  Nelson should miss a few more games, so Moore will have a few more games of spot start value.

Dion Waiters - With Kyrie Irving out, Waiters took over the primary scoring role, putting up 25 Pts but a bare bones 2 Rebs 0 Asts 1 Stl 1 Blk around it.  Still a nice spread like hors d’oeuvres at a democratic convention. If he’s somehow available, which he is in a few leagues, snap him up.

Greivis Vasquez - Continues to play unreal with 20 Pts 8 Rebs 7 Asts and 3 Stls.  Had his first 20-point game since Feb. 8 in that triple-double outburst, but can’t be complainin’!

Deron Williams - The first round bust in Brooklyn, busted out the other way with 33 Pts and 8 Asts, tying his season-high and only his second time over 30 Pts.  Glad he’s not on any of my teams.

J.J. Redick - Only had 23 minutes last night, a little worrisome with Monta Ellis playing 44 and Luc Richard Mmmmmmmm Campbell’s Soup with 28.  Worth monitoring because you may need to jump ship and trade before other owners catch on.

Dirk Nowitzki - First 20-20 game since 2003.  I may have been wrong doubting Dirk’s value down the stretch.  I’m still pessimistic with the Mavericks so far out.

Derrick Williams - Another solid game with 21 Pts 2 3PM 12 Rebs 2 Stls and 1 Blk.  However 3-10 at the stripe.  3-10, Derrick? Time to hit up Rick Barry.

Gerald Henderson - Had someone ask for scoring help on the wire in the comments and I gave them Henderson.  Put up 24 on 12-19 shooting with 2 Rebs 3 Asts and 3 Stls against the Clips.  He can score and put up numbers across all categories.  Great add.

Games Tonight: I’ve got Yahoo Player Highlights for Kings @ Magic then Nuggets @ Trail Blazers.  Will be watching to see how Tobias Harris plays if he can keep up fantasy value, then what should be a good one as Portland goes for the upset.  I will be live tweeting during the games (@jbgilpin) and shoot me your questions below.  Have a good morning!

What’s the deal with AK47′s calf? ARGH

@Zandy: We don’t know the severity yet, but we’ve seen the Roosky bounce back from them and I don’t think is too serious. I would bet he returns to action no later than missing maybe one game.

      • Zandy says:

@JB Gilpin: What’s your view of Tony Allen’s recent production?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Zandy: He’s definitely scoring a wee bit more with Gay gone, also getting a few more minutes giving him a few more boards. He was already getting a steal and a block almost every night earlier in the year. Think he’s definitely valuable, but doesn’t hit three and won’t have any huge games across any categories.

Steve Nash or Thaddeus Young ROS?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@nightpandas: If you need Asts/3s it’s obviously Nash, but in a vacuum I’d go Young.

drop Manu and pick up Danny Green?

@Shogun: Eesh that’s a close one… I think I hang on to Ginobili getting 24+ minutes in back to back games and playing well enough in said time.

  4. Fahed says:

Should I pick up Tobias over Thomas Robinson. Also should take Manu off wires and drop JJ

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Fahed: I think your second question is easier and yea I’d go with Manu over JJ with Manu gettin’ the work. Right now, yea I would go Tobias, he’s got the more solidified role, which is kinda weird, given all the room Houston made for T-Rob. I’d wait and see what T-Rob does tonight and it could change, but right now it’s Tobias.

      • Fahed says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

I’ll wait and see…Manu rest scares me..but jj is gonna lose production..that trade really screwed me. I needed him for the finals.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Fahed: Yea me too, but Manu has been eliter in his career, so he can make do with less minutes. I doubt they will just not play him until maybe 2-3 games left. Yea was a very odd place for JJ to go, isn’t needed for the offense there. I really like Manu’s upside for ya.

I am thinking of targetting Lin+big here .What kind of offer do you like sending out?

    Jack Henderson Dragic

@MrMonkey: So many Raptors guards! Hah. I really like what I see from Tristan Thompson. Also like Gortat. Either one of those guys with Lin for maybe Lowry (back/other injury issues) and Iguodala might work

I’m in 4th place in a 10 cat roto league. I need lots of help in ft%, 3′s, and 3pt%, and I’m in tight races for reb’s, ast’s and steals. I’m wondering if I should drop Nick Young for any of these guys:
Jason Terry, Derrick Williams, Tobias Harris, or E’Twaun Moore.

    Here is my current roster:
    pg I. Thomas
    sg Ellis
    g J. Teague
    sf Afflalo
    pf Josh Smith
    f Horford
    c Cousins
    c Tristan Thompson
    util Calderon
    util Beal
BN: Bosh, Evan Turner, Jeff Green, Thaddeus Young, Nick Young

    Thanks a bunch.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Principle Blackman: Yea I would definitely drop Nick Young. In A vacuum, I like Derrick Williams. Playing well and getting consistent minutes. However, for the stats you need I go Terry who will hit 3s and shoot a very good FT%. Williams is inconsistent at FTs (3-10 last night), so he might not be best suited for your needs. I love Tobias Harris, but I don’t think he’s quite up there yet. Thanks for stopping by!

i just dropped shved for wilson chandler. ur thoughts? should i drop chauncey for tobias?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@skizzy: Chandler is definitely on the upswing while Shved coming off two terrible games, so I’m good with that move. Just temper expectations on Chandler once Danilo is back. Yea I think I would drop Billups for Harris. I’m watching the Magic game now, and Orlando has looked terrible everywhere except Harris. Coach Vaughn will take notice.
