Derrick’s Return Was Not So Rosy

Derrick Rose finally returned to the court against the Knickerbockers Sunday after missing 12 games with a groin injury. That is the longest period of time someone has been incapacitated by a groin-related issue since the summer when the 13-year-old me discovered a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Garbage Pail Kid 2012: Low-Riskin’ Tristan

This year’s fourth overall pick, Tristan Thompson, has some growin’ to do. He’s going to need to learn to distribute the ball at least a little better. In five games, he’s amassed two dimes. Two dimes in 10 days. That’s less than my great grandfather made selling a day’s worth of newspapers.

Roll Hi, RoLo

I added Robin Lopez in two of my leagues. I didn’t like doing it, but anytime a guy who was overhyped last year drops 21/7 in 27 reserve minutes, you kind of got to throw away your last pick and take a chance.

Terrence & The Machine

By the end of this season, Terrence Williams‘ suitcase is going to have more stickers on it than my Trapper Keeper during the Garbage Pail Kids era. T’Will went from the Nets to the D-League and back only to get shipped off to Houston in a blockbuster trade to be finalized later today.

Try A Week, Evans

The story with Sacramento’s reigning Rookie of the Year is as easy as pie. Unless you’re talking about Uncle Jake’s hardscrabble country pie, then it’s easier than pie. Or perhaps you meant pi, in which case Tyreke Evans‘ ongoing foot and ankle injury is also easier than that as well.

Jason’s Skidd

Jason Kidd is averaging a career-low in minutes played, which informs the across-the-board decline in all his other stats. For now, the dip isn’t pronounced enough to be too worrisome. The Mavs still take a shizz ton (100 lbs. heavier than a crap load) of jumpers that allow for Kidd to grab long rebounds.

In The Land O’Lakes, Beasley’s Like Buttah

The Minnesota brass tried to warn us. They told the whole world Michael Beasley had cleaned up his act, rededicated himself and bought, like, five braid pattern books for his hair in the offseason. And so far, dude is charging through defenses and those cornrow styling publications at an alarming clip.

The Pacers scored 54 points in the third quarter after going 20-for-21 from the floor. They were 20-for-20 until Josh McRoberts heaved a lazy three with four seconds remaining (why was Doc McRoberts shooting a three? Oy!). I mention McRoberts’ heave because his 2/10/4 line isn’t enough to get him mentioned otherwise.

Kobe Bryant is coming off knee surgery that hasn’t healed, a finger injury that will never heal and a second championship on the heel of the season before. Two bad newses and a good – unless you hate the Lakers. Then reverse it.

Even the Boozers Get Unlucky Sometimes

October 8, 2010 | Fantasy Basketball Daily Notes | 6 Comments

In a tragedy fit for Dick Van Dyke, Chicago’s Carlos Boozer threw off everyone’s draft rosters earlier this week by tripping over a bag on his way to answering the doorbell and breaking his hand. What is Boozer’s house like that there is no clear path to the front door?
