It’s not easy being green, especially the green, red and silver of the Bucks. However, as the team battles to retain playoff positioning (never too early to think about that), one interesting name has risen. As frequent commenter Frank brought up the other day, John Henson is being mentioned more and more often. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Andre Drummond exploded with Christmas cheer off the bench last night with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks in just 21 minutes. Holy night! Come they played him, pa rum pum pum pum. Aaan-dre Druuum-moond, pa rum pum pum pum. Please, blog, may I have some more?
People had grown increasingly frustrated with Robin Lopez. With Anthony Davis back, he saw a mere 15 minutes the day before, and in the past week, he was only averaging 7.5 PPG and 3.3 RPG. Well, Davis finished with 16/5/0 and a block while Lopez earned 22 points, 9 rebounds, an assist and 2 blocks. Please, blog, may I have some more?
I’ve seen enough. Injury prone label be damned, Stephen Curry rises to the second tier of the point guard rankings. I’ve always loved the talent but that ankle injury is frightening (I drafted him in the 2nd round last year…sigh). Through 25 games this year Curry has stayed healthy and hasn’t missed a start. He’s also averaging 19.4 points (career high), 4.1 boards, 6.4 assists (career high), 1.6 steals, 2.6 three’s (career high), 89.7% FT, and 42.2% FG (career low). Yeah that’s right, 19.4 points on a career low FG… and it’s not even close to his second lowest percent of 46.2% his rookie season. The guy is a stud and COULD be better if his FG% rises some. Did I also mention his 3P% is a career low 41.7%? These percentages will keep rising, especially since Klay Thompson has regained some of his shooting touch. If you have Curry, you’re probably sitting in a good place because of the draft value you got for him. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Admit it, your palms were getting sweaty when you saw Jeremy Lin come off the bench the other day. He had 7 or fewer points in the prior 5 games. You felt a little ill. “I need some ginger ale,” you tried to say, but your voice was raspy. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Now that the rust is coming off the season (except for you Steve Nash), we’ll be splitting the Wednesday posts into morning (for recaps) and afternoon (for the tiers). Check out the previous Centers, Forwards, and Guards tiers. This week we’ll jump right into the guards. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Like the Sandman and Hour-Man, Stephen Curry was a golden age hero. With 31 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 threes and 22 2 steals, Curry carried his team to a win over the Mavs. He is currently ranked 47 versus his original 25 spot, but the man is producing 17.5 PPG, 5.5 APG, 2.1 3PG and 1.7 SPG.Please, blog, may I have some more?
I won’t sit here and lie to you. I watch every Miami Heat game (or try to), hence the Mario Chalmers buy last week (speaking of Chalmers he strained his triceps last night but is day to day). You may be like, “Yo Redacted you’re totally biased cause you’re a heat fan” but I think I’m pretty objective. I saw improvement in Chalmers’ passing ability and my observations were confirmed by actual, real NBA analysts so it isn’t just my Heat love. Of course this week Chalmers took a dump on the court and millions of viewers were horrified. So getting to my actual buy, Ray Allen is the anti-OJ in that the glove fits. The guy is lighting it up in Miami because he is 1) Healthy; 2) WIDE OPEN ALL THE TIME; 3) See #1; 4) See #2; and finally 5) See #’s 3 and 4. I’d look for Top 50 production all season long, although in the second half of the season we may see the Heat reduce his minutes some to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Please, blog, may I have some more?
New this year to the basketball side of Razzball is updated tier rankings throughout the season. Every Wednesday morning I’ll update my tiers on a rotating basis for guards, forwards, and centers (i.e. Guards this week, Forwards next week, etc.) The first run through of tiered rankings may not differ much from my original rankings because there haven’t been many games played. Don’t like it? Well there will be no vote on this since this is a dictatorship. However, you can destroy me in the comments as much as you please. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Like his white gooey namesake, O.J. Mayo globbed on 32 points thanks in part to 6 of 8 three point attempts (that’s 18 points from downtown for those of you keeping score at home). He only had 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, but the guy was busy carrying the entire team on his shoulders, so we can probably give him a pass. Please, blog, may I have some more?
