After our leader last week went ham, this past week they got jammed! I hate jam! Like raspberry! 3-6 loss for Yappers dropped them into 3rd place, while seeds 1,2 and 4 all put together 8-1 wins this past week. Sectioning off the men from the boys! Here’s how week five in the 2016-17 REL went down, and how we’re looking heading into week six:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Whoa, an elite week from our elite leader! Although that sounds vaguely like we’re a dictatorship, it’s a free league though! Yappers went absolutely ham instead of turkey right before Thanksgiving, beating Foreign Affairs 8-1 to move into a 3 game lead in first. They were up 9-0 during parts of Sunday as well! The 14-15 champion is seeking to be the first multi-gold jersey owner in the REL, but there’s still a long way to go! Here’s how week four in the 2016-17 REL went down:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Another week is in the books in the Razzball Elite League, with Scurry to the Left maintaining the top spot with another strong showing. They Scurried 6-3 past the strong squad of High as Greg Kite, which might be a postseason preview! On the other end, and mannnnn does this league change on a dime! Defending champ I Ain’t No Jok(ic) has fallen to dead last after a crushing 2-7 loss to No Glove No Love. Not much of any love at all, that’s for sure! But even though we’re three dynasty weeks in, there’s still plenty of time to turn it around and win that gold jersey (or your dyno league equivalent)! Here’s how week three in the 2016-17 REL went down:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Two weeks are now in the books (TWO WEEKS!), with Scurry to the Left and Yappers tied at the top with strong 15-3 records. Yappers, the 2014-15 winner, is trying to get back into the golden jersey glory land, while Scurry is on a mission to be a contender. Meanwhile, our defending champ I Ain’t No Jok(ic) is pulling a Carolina Panthers, and off to a rough 5-13 start. Just takes a bye week to regroup!
It’s been exciting to see an aggressive waiver wire the past few weeks, as owners are ponying up for some fresh blood. Can’t afford to FAAB hoard in these parts! So if you play in deeper leagues, check out who was added this week in the REL to give you some thin-wire salvation. I’m suddenly a fan of DFS for example! Here’s how week two in the 2016-17 REL went down:Please, blog, may I have some more?
The first week is in the books! I hope everyone out there in the deep dynasty landscape had a strong first week, saw their rooks get into the rotation a little bit, and avoided the old dinosaurs like Dirk giving them early DNPs… Smh.
If you’re still unfamiliar with the REL, I wanted to give a quick format recap for this first in-season look-in – it’s a 20 team league, 12 starting roster spots, 5 bench, 1 IL, standard 9-cat H2H. You can keep an unlimited number of keepers (well, up to roster size) up to the auction budget of $200. Whatever cash you don’t keep, you use to buy up the younguns outta the draft. Then arguably the most crucial aspect of the league is the waiver wire. All pickups are $1 keepers for life, so our $100 FAAB budgets have a dramatic impact on roster construction. Expect to see some big buys for young guys who break out!
Enough with the league rules recap JB, we get it (says 99% of readers, who have seen these before)! Here’s how week one in the 2016-17 REL went down:Please, blog, may I have some more?
With the season here tomorrow, it’s been a busy offseason getting our dynasty chess pieces lined up for a run at the REL golden jersey! The race for the most coveted prize in all of fantasy basketball’s dynasty leagues (no hyperbole there!) begins now! Well, maybe it’s not the most coveted, but it’s the most priceless! Hard to believe I care more about this free league than leagues I pay for… But we talk about the REL here on hoops and on the Pod more than any other, because deep leagues is where it’s at!
If you missed the live Podcast during the draft, give ‘er a listen here! With the draft now complete and the first round of FAABing in the books, it’s time to start analyzing the league! Here’s how owners are feeling about their drafts for our first REL update of the 2016-17 Fantasy Basketball Season:Please, blog, may I have some more?
None of this “wait until the home opener next season” ish, we hang the gold jersey on the rafters right away in the REL! Congrats to I Ain’t No Jok(ic), winning their first REL title after not making the playoffs and rebuilding the first two seasons. Playoff experience is overrated! 3 years are now in the books, and we have 3 different champions. No “dynasty” team yet! Good luck to everyone in their offseason dynasty prep, as we all look forward to competing for 16-17 titles in our dynasty leagues. I want that golden jersey dammit! Here’s how the finals went down in the REL:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Well, there goes that… If you want to avoid a whiny rant about a bad-beat in the REL playoffs that came down to .001% of a point, then just skip over my recap. I’m cold. I’m bitter. I’m all alone! Thankfully I have some primo KCP I can huff and get me through the offseason. Hey, at least I didn’t destroy my keepers core to go for the gold! Here’s how the semis wrapped up in week 21 in the REL, plus a preview of the REL Finals:Please, blog, may I have some more?
Woooo, I’m still alive in the REL! The quarterfinal round has completed, with yours truly and I Ain’t No Jok(ic) advancing to the Final Four. We should be able to cut down some nets for this! The quest for the golden trophy continues into the semis, with the bye week teams loaded up for what should be some pretty close matchups. Including the internal battle to get to the finals between Slim and I. The struggle is real! Expect massive amounts of yelling on the Podcast this week… Here’s how the quarterfinals wrapped up in week 20 in the REL, plus a preview of this week’s semi-finals:Please, blog, may I have some more?
The quest for the golden jersey starts here! I’m now going to use that term to describe winning the REL title, just look at how sexy that graphic at the bottom is! I want to be on there! With the playoffs now set, we had some crazy jostling between teams #2-#5, with Slim sneaking in to second for a first-week bye. Damn that sneaky Slim! We also had a few high-priced waiver adds as we wind down the season and NBA opportunities are created. Here’s how week 19 wrapped up the regular season in the REL:Please, blog, may I have some more?
