I’ve seen enough. Injury prone label be damned, Stephen Curry rises to the second tier of the point guard rankings. I’ve always loved the talent but that ankle injury is frightening (I drafted him in the 2nd round last year…sigh). Through 25 games this year Curry has stayed healthy and hasn’t missed a start. He’s also averaging 19.4 points (career high), 4.1 boards, 6.4 assists (career high), 1.6 steals, 2.6 three’s (career high), 89.7% FT, and 42.2% FG (career low). Yeah that’s right, 19.4 points on a career low FG… and it’s not even close to his second lowest percent of 46.2% his rookie season. The guy is a stud and COULD be better if his FG% rises some. Did I also mention his 3P% is a career low 41.7%? These percentages will keep rising, especially since Klay Thompson has regained some of his shooting touch. If you have Curry, you’re probably sitting in a good place because of the draft value you got for him.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Rajon Rondo
Kris Humphries (3/4/0 with 2 blocks) fouled Kevin Garnett (16/10/1) somewhat hard (his flopping made it look worse than it was). Rajon Rondo (6/1/3 with 2 steals) took exception to the contact, and since NBA players are mature, emotionally well-adjusted individuals, a brawl ensued, resulting in the ejection of Humpy and Rondo.
Please, blog, may I have some more? Now that the rust is coming off the season (except for you Steve Nash), we’ll be splitting the Wednesday posts into morning (for recaps) and afternoon (for the tiers). Check out the previous Centers, Forwards, and Guards tiers. This week we’ll jump right into the guards.
Please, blog, may I have some more? It’s that time of year when everything is predictable. You’ll hear that Adam Sandler song as the token musical nod to Chanukah amidst an endless sea of long dead crooners and sentimal pop. Plastic nativities with blinking lights will adorn lawns like stars dotting the night sky.
Please, blog, may I have some more? The Phoenix Suns have arguably the least exciting line up in the NBA on paper, but that’s not to say these nobodies, err, “role players” aren’t without some fantasy value. We’re talking door buster deals, ladies and gents! Major fantasy bargains!
Please, blog, may I have some more?My favorite thing in basketball, besides a bunch of other stuff, is the triple double. It should come as no surprise that Kobe Bryant had one. The future Hall of Famer scored 22 points, grabbed 11 boards, and handed out 11 dimes.
Please, blog, may I have some more? Thanks to a triple overtime game between the Raptors and Jazz, there were some crazy minutes played. DeMar DeRozan played an hour of basketball and produced 37 points (16-33 FG, 1-6 3P), 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Maurice Williams played only 50 minutes and had 17 points (3 threes), 14 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks (and 7 turnovers.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Bradley Beal is learning how tough it is to be a Wizard. Now he understands why Harry was always so stressed out. Expelliarmus! Last night Beal scored 22 points night adding 4 rebounds and dishing out 2 assists. The rookie had his best game of the young season and clearly wasn’t even at his best (0-4 on 3 point attempts, but he did go 8-8 from the free throw line).
Please, blog, may I have some more?Hellloooo Super Mario. Looks like Mario Chalmers ate himself a mushroom. Not one of those stupid poison mushroom that always annoyed the hell out of me or those shrooms that totally trip you out. I mean the one’s that give you that growth spurt. He’s totally taller out there on the court this year. Actually that might be because of the mushroom I ate. Anywhooo, Chalmers has really been impressive (7.4/3/6.6/2/0.4 with 1 3PM per game) as a bargain PG early in the season and looks to have found his niche in the ridiculous Miami offense. His niche? Pass the ball to all the ridiculously good teammate and hit the open 3 if it’s there. I think I could have figured that one out. Seriously though, I am absolutely buying him as a top 100 player. He won’t give you a ton of points, but the other stats will be there (including money steals). Think of him as a bizarro Rajon Rondo and a really cheap pg if you’re lacking assists and steals.
Please, blog, may I have some more?New this year to the basketball side of Razzball is updated tier rankings throughout the season. Every Wednesday morning I’ll update my tiers on a rotating basis for guards, forwards, and centers (i.e. Guards this week, Forwards next week, etc.) The first run through of tiered rankings may not differ much from my original rankings because there haven’t been many games played. Don’t like it? Well there will be no vote on this since this is a dictatorship. However, you can destroy me in the comments as much as you please.
