Top 20 Power Forwards For Fantasy Basketball, 2012-2013

September 21, 2012 | 2012 Fantasy Basketball Draft, 2012 Fantasy Basketball Rankings | 15 Comments

Today we take a look at Power Forwards, perhaps the most versatile position in the NBA. Coaches like to slot these guys in the Center position, move them to fill in at Small Forward, and take them to the bowling alley for some downtime.

Point guards, shooting guards and small forwards have all been accounted for. Now, call this list the “anti-small forward.” With the exception of maybe Amar’e, injuries and general suckitude  didn’t dictate the direction this list took. For the record, Amar’e experienced both.

LaMarcus Aldridge, You Make Me Hick!

In case you have been living under a rock, or already lost your playoff matchup and moved on to baseball, LaMarcus Aldridge is undergoing season-ending surgery for a labral tear in his hip. Labral tear? I thought only women could have those.

Derrick’s Return Was Not So Rosy

Derrick Rose finally returned to the court against the Knickerbockers Sunday after missing 12 games with a groin injury. That is the longest period of time someone has been incapacitated by a groin-related issue since the summer when the 13-year-old me discovered a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Uh-Oh, Maggette Goes!

I may never forgive Corey Maggette for being just good enough that, when he plays 10 minutes and leaves the game with back spasms, I have to mention it. He knows how much I hate mentioning Bobcats! So here it is.

Rondo Or Rondon’t: There Is No Try

Rajon Rondo might have tweaked his ankle yesterday. I mean, he definitely tweaked it, but this is the Celtics we’re talking about and I’m not entirely sure he didn’t TV tweak it. When he was taken to the locker room in the second quarter, Paul Pierce could be overheard shouting, “that’s my boy.

There were a few notable headlines out of Dallas, the first of which that Kennedy was assassinated. Jumping ahead a few decades to Tuesday night, the Nets somehow managed to outplay the Mavericks, led by Brook Lopez‘s 38 points and 6 rebounds (in 36 minutes).

J-Smoove (or Joove to his friends and accountants) had 30 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists. Which brings up a good question: was he close to a triple-double? Seven dimes is pretty outstanding, but getting three more would have been the equivalent of scoring about 10-12 more points.

A Few More Mavericks Go Rogue

Dirk Nowitzki earned his second double-double of the season. So that’s nice. It was his first game back in more than a week. So that’s nice, too. What’s a little less nice is was how belabored the victory was in just about every way for both Dallas and Dirk.

Man, U’s In Trouble

Manu Ginobili broke his shooting hand and may be out as many as six weeks. Groin punch! If you drafted him, his penchant for injury is why you hesitated before doing so. And don’t act like you didn’t hesitate. You were well warned.
