Beard For Landing

Durant may miss a couple games after snapping his balsa wood ankles. I’m not sure what the big worry is here with his ankles, this stuff happens to Derek Fisher, like, twice a game. That joke was lifted directly from “Tosh.0,” but I’m tired and I didn’t want to make another joke about James Harden‘s greasy beard.

Parker est le Français Grillées

Admit it, despite the fact that San Antonio’s Tony Parker hasn’t missed fewer than 10 games in any of his previous three seasons, you thought you were going to make it through 2011 with an almost completely healthy Tony Parker. What’s next?

Deron The Side Of Caution

This time of the year is always bittersweet. Shuffling up the collective deck of players and dealing them all over the NBA map is fun and exciting, like the time you see your first boob up close. You’ve spent a lot of time imagining it, then – poof – it’s there right in front of you and you have no idea what to do.

Where The Reviled Kings Are

Tyreke Evans will miss the next three weeks with the same foot problems that has dogged him all week. Normally in these circumstances, the coach would identify a replacement to take over. Paul Westphal won’t do that. Pooh Jeter, Jermaine Taylor, Luther Head, and Donte Greene will all profit, but only for one in every five games.

Gordon Slumway

Through the first half of the season, any Clipper talk has centered almost primarily around Blake Griffin‘s phatness or Baron Davis‘ fatness. Little respect has been paid to one of the surprise top 10 scorers in the league, Eric Gordon.

Forty-Three With A Bullet

I watched two games last night. The first being the D.C.-Sacramento open gym scrimmage. The second being the L.A.-Cleveland Globetrotters fiasco. Last night, according to those two games, the NBA died. Too bad mi amigos. I mean, really, if you watched either of those games and thought, “Yeah.

Arsenic And Old Tracy

What would it take a sane person to grab Tracy McGrady off waivers in a standard-size fantasy league? A month ago, the thought was unthinkable. I’m not sure what a thought is if one cannot think it. When you’re drunk and rambling to your friends at about 2:30 in the morning on New Years Day, discuss it and get back to me.

Toddlers and retailers aren’t the only one jazzed about the holiday season. Half the damn league seems to have put in to take vacations around the same time: for about six weeks starting right now. I already went over the spate of all-stars missing substantial playing time last week.

D.C., Orlando Exchange Wizard Magic

I spend one afternoon caroling in my neighborhood and lookit what happens: I return to a league that colluded to all swap jerseys and make me nuts. There’s no way, I’m going to be able to remember that a) Hedo Turkoglu is not on the Suns, b) Hedo Turkoglu was ever not on the Magic and c) Vince Carter isn’t on a pitiful D.C.

Go Wes, Young Man

Old men should also ‘go Wes.’ Or young women. Or old women. Just kidding. Old women don’t want anything to do with fantasy sports. But the point is that anyone who does do fantasy basketball should have already grabbed Wes Matthews after his game-winning 30-point, .579-shooting night.
