I got some things right in the preseason, and some things wrong, but one of the players I’m most happy about is Damian Lillard. In my rankings post, I wrote, “He dominated the summer league and is one of a number of rookies that people are eyeballing. Please, blog, may I have some more?
You want an early buy (or a repeat)? Throw down some nickels and make a purchase of one Tyler Zeller. His 16 points yesterday were the first since January 19, but the 9 rebounds, 4 assists and a block were not out of the ordinary. He’s had a block in five straight games, is averaging 7 rebounds in the past six games, and has 3 or 4 assists in four games this month. I wouldn’t own him for offense, but he could help you in many other ways. Let him inspire your fantasy team! WAH…TUH!Please, blog, may I have some more?
Martell Webster continues to light the east coast on fire from downtown, while much of the coast is being covered in snow. That Webster is so hot right now! Friday night, he scored 16 points, adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and hit 3 shots from the arc. Please, blog, may I have some more?
In less than 19 minutes off the bench, Wilson Chandler scored 24 points, with 2 boards, 2 steals and a block. This was his best game since January 23, although it is weird that 3 days ago he had 10 rebounds (and 7 points) and yesterday saw a complete 180.Please, blog, may I have some more?
Kyle Korver was unstoppable Friday night, leading Atlanta to a huge 2OT win with 27 points, including 8 3-pointers made, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. The Korv started his second game in a row in place of Anthony Morrow, and again he took advantage. He was actually calling for the ball in this one too, dude was absolutely en fuego, hashtag could not miss (did I do that right?).Please, blog, may I have some more?
It was a big night for Bradley Beal. King B.B. hit 5 of 7 from beyond the arc to finish with 22 points (tied for team high), 5 rebound, 4 assists and a steal. However, that was overshadowed by news that John Wall expects to return this Saturday, or soon thereafter. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Andre Iguodala has been a source of contention in the comments recently. Some people just want to cast him aside and leave him for dead (I may be exaggerating slightly). Not me. No man left behind is my motto (unless your name is Andrew Bynum, to hell with that guy). Especially a man that was a top 50 player last year. A man who once only hurt you in FT% and contributed across the board everywhere else. This year he is not the same man. A career low in FG%, REB, STL, and a nearly career high in TO’s (not to mention his lowest AST since ’05-’06). Perhaps it is the high altitude, or maybe he is declining at the old age of 28 years. I say that’s hogwash and I’m not sure why I say it like that, because I sound like my 80 year old grandmother. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that he will figure out his role on the Nuggets and you should own him before he does. Well, unless you can’t take that FT% hit. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Pau Gasol and the Lakers have had a train wreck of a season so far. Pau is seeing nearly all his numbers being below career average (12.6/8.9/3.5/0.5/1.2 with 42% FG and 76% FT) and having “knee tendinitis” to boot. As such, I had to move him down in the tiers because you can’t be a Victoria’s Secret model with those type of numbers. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Kris Humphries (3/4/0 with 2 blocks) fouled Kevin Garnett (16/10/1) somewhat hard (his flopping made it look worse than it was). Rajon Rondo (6/1/3 with 2 steals) took exception to the contact, and since NBA players are mature, emotionally well-adjusted individuals, a brawl ensued, resulting in the ejection of Humpy and Rondo. Please, blog, may I have some more?
One thing I absolutely hate, I mean really despise, is when teams relocate. I think it’s a giant middle finger to fans and a blemish on the legacy of the team. That also leads to bizarre team names, like the Lakers in L.A.Please, blog, may I have some more?
