Top 20 Shooting Guards, 2011 Fantasy Basketball

May 6, 2012 | 2011 Fantasy Basketball Rankings |

by: Adam+

We looked at the top 20 point guards for 2011 last week and decided that injuries wreaked havoc on most fantasy teams. Today, we decide that the shooting guard position is even weaker than I predicted in the preseason. Yes we will learn that.

22% of ESPN leagues.  That’s the ownership % of Avery Bradley.  Or maybe the % of managers who are still vying for some sort of title (The true test…  David Lee was deemed out for the season over the weekend and he is still owned in 65% of leagues.

We Didn’t Start the Injuries

Maybe I’m bad luck and every time I post there are a bunch of guys who get injured.  Or maybe this season is just too whacky.  Whatever the case may be, there was alot of players who didn’t play last night due to injuries or some other reason.

I may never forgive Corey Maggette for being just good enough that, when he plays 10 minutes and leaves the game with back spasms, I have to mention it. He knows how much I hate mentioning Bobcats! So here it is.

Get On Paul George and … Bingo!

We’ve let this go on long enough; this Paul George wreckin’ crew situation. He’s killing it lately, and if he’s on your fantasy team, he’s killing it for you lately. And if he’s not on your team, you might not have noticed how he killed you lately.

Dirk’ed Over

Entering this season, everyone (including this humble narrator) was weary of Dirk Nowitzki, which is a weird thing to be for a healthy reigning NBA Finals MVP. I saw him drop deep into the second round in more than a couple drafts.

It appears that maybe the Rookie of the Year race could resemble the Dunkin Donuts jumbotron race the United Center plays during time outs atBulls games. It’s nothing special: an animated donut, coffee cup and bagel race twice around an animated track.

It’s a veritable Ron-a-thon in the FA pool. Derrick Rose returned after a couple games off and tagged out Deng for what looks to be at least a week. The first thing you need to know is Luol Deng came into Monday night leading the league in minutes played through the first quarter of the season.

There I was: settled in for a long evening of basketball-related entertainment, when all of a sudden my Twitter and my Tumblr and my Facebooks erupted alerting me to not only the announcement of the new Springsteen album in March, but that the first single was already here.

Players to Target, 2011 Fantasy Basketball

There are those who are overrated, those who are underrated and those who are rated appropriately. Jim Carrey as the Riddler in 1995? Overrated. DeVito as the Penguin in 1992? Underrated. Christopher Walken, too!  Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman in 1992? Appropriately rated.
