I hear that all your favorite NBA players are playing basketball overseas next year. I hear that all your favorite teams and all my favorite teams are holding cheerleader tryouts for the next six months. I hear that the captains of our favorite teams are all moving to Turkey and China to start hoops camps for children, or whomever, really.
Please, blog, may I have some more?D.J. Augustin
Rajon Rondo dropped a 22/5/14 line, with no steals, but also no turnovers last night. After the game Rondo and his tender pinkie told Rick Fox in the TNT studio to tell Kobe Bryant and his tender index finger to go suck a big one when they talk to him later.
Please, blog, may I have some more?(Today’s post title is for all you connoisseurs of niche comedians from the ’80s.) Stephen Jackson is hobbled, but played anyway. If you have another option, go with it, because Jackson ran up and down the court last night like Pacino at the end of ‘Dick Tracy.’ (Deep cut!) The word out of Northc’alina is that if the Bobcats lost to the Pacers (effectively wiping away their playoff hopes), Stack Jacks would be shut down for the season.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Serge Ibaka had 14 rebounds and seven blocks yesterday. Danny Ainge is smart, but Darrell Morey Sam Presti is smarter. A full year of Ibaka at PF next season is going to be huge. After just seven games this month, Ibaka has more blocks (25) than in either of the last two.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Three months ago, the Charlotte Bobcats were an aimless team with two underwhelming fantasy options (Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson), a slight surprise late-round draft pick (D.J. Augustin), and a long-shot stud that, again, has underwhelmed (Tyrus Thomas).
Please, blog, may I have some more?It never fails. A guy gets a bunch of hubbub around him, defenders start playing tougher, nastier, they’re more attentive. Suddenly that guy doesn’t seem as good. His shine’s worn off. He’s mortal. It happened with George Bronski, Cleevis Hush, Hooper Weintraub and now it’s happening to Kevin Love.
Please, blog, may I have some more? For 23 years, Utah head coach Jerry Sloan won 60 percent of his games (1,221 of ‘em in the regular season), made it to the Finals twice, got knocked out in one of the first two rounds 18 other times, confused dozens of players with his occasionally incoherent, but nevertheless longwinded mumblings, and stunted the capital growth of NBA tie salesmen for almost three decades.
Please, blog, may I have some more?I know Hibbert will get most of the press from last night, after his immediate statsplosion following Jim O’Brien’s firing. For my money though, Paul George is your Indiana pickup here. Either him or the chubby girl with the mall perm.
Please, blog, may I have some more? The glass-half-full part of you wants to enjoy DeMarcus Cousins‘ 13 boards from last night, while the glass-half-full you can’t help but acknowledge that he missed all but three of his 13 shot attempts. The glass-half-full you revels in the fact that he’s averaging 25 minutes per game as a rookie, while the glass-half-empty (GHE, pronounced “g’eh”) part of you can’t ignore Tuesday’s four turnovers or the .424 season FG%.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Growing up in Chicago, there are three teams I’m not allowed to like. There can be no rooting for the Pistons, the Knicks or the Pacers. This triumvirate were the biggest proponents of the Jordan Rules and basically were chok-full of a-holes and bird-like guys named Detlef during the ’80s and ’90s.
