New this year to the basketball side of Razzball is updated tier rankings throughout the season. Every Wednesday morning I’ll update my tiers on a rotating basis for guards, forwards, and centers (i.e. Guards this week, Forwards next week, etc.) The first run through of tiered rankings may not differ much from my original rankings because there haven’t been many games played. Please, blog, may I have some more?
The NBA is BACK baby and so are the daily notes. This morning, fantasy owners were greeted by their players with a trick or treat. Oh LeBron James (26/10/3/2, 2 3PM), a snickers bar! Thank you Rajon Rondo (20/7/14, 9-14 FG), I love butterfingers! Please, blog, may I have some more?
J-Smoove (or Joove to his friends and accountants) had 30 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists. Which brings up a good question: was he close to a triple-double? Seven dimes is pretty outstanding, but getting three more would have been the equivalent of scoring about 10-12 more points. Please, blog, may I have some more?
It was fairly obvious to everybody that Darren Collison was the best player involved in the four-team trade that sent him to Indiana last summer. Trevor Ariza was absolutely awful for the Hornets, Courtney Lee wasn’t much better and I can’t recall Troy Murphy making an impact play also season long. Please, blog, may I have some more?
(Today’s post title is for all you connoisseurs of niche comedians from the ’80s.) Stephen Jackson is hobbled, but played anyway. If you have another option, go with it, because Jackson ran up and down the court last night like Pacino at the end of ‘Dick Tracy.’ (Deep cut!) The word out of Northc’alina is that if the Bobcats lost to the Pacers (effectively wiping away their playoff hopes), Stack Jacks would be shut down for the season. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Every time I type C.J. Miles’ name, I want to type Watson. I almost type it. I get to the “t” and have to delete. This tells me that Miles just hasn’t made a name for himself yet. Hasn’t carved out his place. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Houston’s Chase Budinger has averaged 30 mpg in the three games since Thursday’s trade deadline. In that small sample size, Budinger has averaged .516/.850, along with 2.7 3pg/21.7 ppg/5.3 rpg. I don’t need to tell you how outstanding that production is from a player owned in fewer than 25 percent of fantasy leagues. Please, blog, may I have some more?
I was among those who eagerly awaited the inevitable moment this season when Steve Nash went down with some sort of old man injury so that Goran Dragic could be taken out of the garage and driven around like Cameron’s Ferrari in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Sure as shootin’, Nash’s groin laid him low. Please, blog, may I have some more?
The big boned Sean May broke his foot and will be out ’til after training camp. May’s feet were tired of all the stress and strain and put their two weeks notice in. After three consecutive days of coming into work late, filthy and constantly harassing the secretaries, the rest of Sean May asked his foot to go away immediately. Please, blog, may I have some more?
