Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

We’ve all been guilty of it at one point or another.  Maybe the great ones, you know, someone like The Dude, haven’t been guilty of trying to look into the future.  For us mere mortals life isn’t so easy that all we need to do is throw on our best pair of Birkenstocks and face the day as it comes to us.  At this time of year in fantasy, it’s time to forget about the prospects and focus on the here and now.  There aren’t any September call-ups… wait, where are you all going?  Baseball hasn’t started yet.  Fine, go, be gone with you then!  Ahem…  For those of us still playing for a championship – ohhh *snaps fingers* out of the playoffs burn!  Excuse me.  For those of us still playing for championships, *smirk*, we can’t afford to worry about the what ifs, we can only concern ourselves now with the what has, so here are my weekend streamers of who wills:

Patrick Beverley – PG/SG – Hou – Pat Bev Devoe is a hot add right now and I think he is in for a big weekend.  We’re looking for 3′s, a bunch of steals, and even a block or 2.  He shouldn’t hurt us anywhere he just doesn’t help the assists like we would expect from a starting PG not named George Hill.  Friday vsInd and Sun vsPor look daunting, but I don’t expect either game to be a blow out which should mean Beverley sees 35 minutes in both games.

Alec Burks – PG/SG – Uta – Burks’ minutes have fluctuated a bit but he’s still averaging right about 30 per game regardless.  He should chip in a ton of points with a smattering of other stats.  Friday @NY is a plus match-up and it doesn’t get much better than Saturday @Phi.  I believe Burks is due for a monster weekend.  Burks gets another 4 game week next week including a game on Monday if you’re already looking ahead to next week.

Brian Roberts – PG/SG – NO – This was a bad call of mine last weekend but Roberts got his minutes back on Monday and Tuesday so once again I think he’s in for a nice weekend.  I don’t expect his stat lines to be crazy but Friday vsMil and Sunday vsDen are plus match-ups for anyone seeing big minutes.

Jerryd Bayless – PG/SG – Bos – Bayless is still under 10% owned after seeing 30+ minutes for 4 straight games so luckily he’s probably available in your league.  With all the injuries still plaguing the Boston back court I expect no less than 30 more minutes in both games this weekend.  I expect plenty of points, some 3s, some steals, and the chance at 3 or 4 assists per game.  Friday vsBkn and Sun vsDet are both plus match-ups as far as I can tell and then maybe Bayless will have earned your trust enough to keep him around for his 4 game week next week.

Corey Brewer – SG/SF – Min – Brewer is another guy who’s been hot recently.  I don’t expect much help in boards or assists but if I was desperately scouring the wire for steals this weekend Brewer would be my first choice.  Friday vsDet and Sunday vsTor should help to make him a solid all around weekend play.

Kyle Singler – SG/SF – Det – The returns from Singler look to be diminishing, but I’m not so sure that’s the case.  He only saw 22 minutes last Saturday vsHou but that was due to foul trouble.  His shot wasn’t falling Monday vsNY but he still managed a multi-cat stat line.  Singler will help with 3s, some mid level points, boards, and assists, while also throwing in a few steals and/or blocks.  Friday @Min and Sunday @Bos should both be uptempo games and Singler should thrive.

Giannis Antetokounmpo – SG/SF – Mil – Alphabet Soup hasn’t quite got to 30 minutes in his past 5 games and I can’t guarantee he’s going to this weekend either.  However he still managed some very useful multi-cat lines.  I expect steals, blocks, and 3s, along with 3-4 assists, and 4-6 boards.  If that’s what you need, actually I’m pretty sure that’s what everyone needs, then Antetok could be your guy.  Friday @NO is nice but Saturday vsWas could go either way.  The Bucks play 5 games next week so there’s a good chance you will wind up holding on to Antetok past this weekend.

Jeff Adrien – SF/PF – Mil – Pete Nice already mentioned Adrien earlier in the week and I think it’s already time to stream him.  20 boards in these next 2 games is completely reasonable, well then what about 50 boards in a 5 game week next week?  That’s by no means out of the question.  For good measure throw in a decent shot at a steal and a block per game and I have no trouble endorsing Jeff Adrien Friday @NO and Saturday vsWas and once again in 5 games next week even if he only sees 20 minutes per game.

Elton Brand – PF/C – Atl – It’s starting to look like old man Brand can still play big minutes.  Obviously there’s no way he can survive that, but we just want a couple of games out of him for his boards plus high end steals and blocks.  With Atlanta still struggling to field a full team Brand should get big minutes again for Friday @GS and Saturday @LAC.

Reggie Evans – PF – Sac – Another of Pete’s favorites and we all know by now what Reggie Evans can do.  As long as he gets 20+ minutes in Sacramento he’s going to give 10+ boards.  Friday @Tor and Sunday @Bkn are 2 games he could excel in.  A four game week next week could see Reggie Evans being the difference in boards once again.

Dunleavey is under 50% owned Espn also could provide decent value as long as he’s starting. I’ve streamed him in a few leagues recently. Had a dud last night but he’s still ok. I gave up on Roberts when tyreke got the starting nod. What about Scott from ATL? He strung a few decent gms while millsap was hurt. Thanks for the post, I haven’t had a few of the guys mentioned on my gaydar.

@matt: I had Dunleavy last week with Butler out but his numbers have been slipping with Butler back and playing well. I don’t mind streaming for a few 3s and boards but I don’t really trust him to do much else. I like Mike Scott a bit with Millsap still out and likely out through the weekend but he’s been slipping recently and he’s another guy who I can only trust for a few categories. He just feels a little too risky to me but yeah there’s still plenty of upside for this weekend.

@Lasandro: 4x Platinum! I’m giving away my age but I can remember when they were the hottest thing around. I had to look it up though. 1990. Yeah. 24 years ago. I don’t even know what to say except that apparently they still tour.

    Hey Slim.

Would you drop trey burke for another FA? Someone like pero antic, reggie evans, or jeff adrian? (i need some pts, boards, and steals right now)

Trey has been a thorn on my roster. Sure, I gotta think about the upside but he hasn’t played strong enough recently to make me a believer. Should I still hold, Slim? Thanks!

@Kevin: If you don’t need assists then Burke can definitely go but I’d have to feel pretty good about my assists. As for those 3, I don’t know about Antic. I’m not so sure he’s going to go back to being a 30 minute guy. Evans and Adrien are nearly identical fantasy players but I think I would slightly favor Adrien for points. Boards and Steals feel neck and neck with what I believe will be equal minutes. I also like Adrien for the extra game next week and a better chance at chipping in with a couple of blocks. Both carry quite a bit of risk though given that they only play about 20-25 minutes.

@Slim: I think I’m good on assists. I have john wall, Kyle Lowry, chalmers, bledsoe, Brian Roberts, and tyreke Evans (now that he’s doing more point work).

what do you think about Boris diaw going forward with the spurs? And do you think Danny green is worth a pickup? The Pop factor is what I’m iffy about. I’m hoping they’ll do great against the Miami tonight?

@Kevin: I don’t trust Danny Green with the Spurs fully healthy. 20-25 minutes is what I’m thinking.

Tough to trust Diaw and his recent boost in minutes might just be due to their opponents. 25-30 minutes looks about right. With the way he puts up stats in every category makes him worth a look. I don’t mind the add and I agree Burke looks expendable for your team.

    How’s it going Slim?

Do you think Terrence Jones keeps up this hot streak? Or do you think he will cool off in time for the fantasy playoffs?

Is it worth it to pick him for either (a) DeMarre Carroll or (b) Carlos Boozer? I need help with FG%, boards, and blocks.

    Thanks!

@Carlson: And some help in points would be nice too.

@Carlson: Pretty good, waiting for the start of the Heat/Spurs game tonight. Could be a good one.

It’s a tough call. McHale has a ton of options at PF and I certainly think Terrence Jones is the best but unfortunately that doesn’t mean a whole lot. 3 games in a row is usually the sign of a trend so yeah if I was 50-50 on Terrence Jones I would definitely be leaning that he will play 30+minutes. His numbers when he doesn’t get 30 minutes aren’t bad, they’re just prorated.

I’m not dropping Carroll, he looks healthy and should get a ton of minutes. He’s a top 50 guy and he’s got a good playoff schedule. He’s a hold for sure. Boozer… I’m really not a fan. He can’t play big minutes anymore and Taj Gibson looks to be the much better player anyway. I would add Terrence Jones for Boozer, Jones’ floor is lower but his ceiling is so much higher, especially in the categories you need.

thoughts on trevor booker? he’s had one good game since starting but has a decent playoff sched. wiz front line seems like a mess tho. 16 man h2h with a very shallow FA pool. only the likes of bayless, pjones, livingston, mcallum, swaggyp are available. hold on swap for any of the guys mentioned? thanks

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@hamtime: I wasn’t buying in when Nene went down and now Drew Gooden and Al Harrington are stealing minutes?!? And it could get worse when Seraphin returns. The only option on your list with a secure role is Bayless but he doesn’t help any of the categories you would lose by dropping Booker. If you feel good about your boards and blocks then I would drop Booker for Bayless but if you need the boards and blocks I would just hold for now.

Sup buddy.. In close in all CAT’s so which 2 would you start? Wesley Matthews, Alec Burks, taj Gibson or Vince Carter?? I don’t know why Wes has been horrible but usually he makes up in other cats but Vince has been great and so has taj but taj lately has been only points and lil boards and nothing else.. Either way what do you think??

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Frank White: Looks like I got here far too late. I hope you benched Vince Carter. The other three were pretty good. I think Matthews will be fine. Taj without the boards is a little odd. I guess it’s just the way the ball falls off the iron sometimes.
