Well, it’s New York, and it’s Derrick Rose.  Mo’ drama!  After attending shootaround and everything seeming about status quo, Rose just flat out didn’t show up for last night’s game against the Pelicans.  Didn’t tell anyone, didn’t shoot someone a text…  He had no problem sending all sorts of horrible texts to that ex-girlfriend…  The AWOL was so abrupt, that apparently the Knicks sent team representatives to his apartment and his teammates were praying for him!  Yikes.  According to reports, he’s fine and it was a “family issue” in Chicago, but this is redonk!  I can’t remember a starting player just “not showing up” for a game, much less a former MVP!  Things have gotten super sour in NY…  Then the actual game last night happened!  …which was an absolute shitshow.  At least Brandon Jennings played well, as he’s been given a golden opportunity to start and show what he can do again (20/5/4/2/0 with 4 treys and 2 TO in 29 minutes – I would probably give him a spec add in 12ers based on this drama).  But nothing but downhill from there.  Carmelo Anthony got ejected for arguing, probably because the Knicks were down 20 and his knees hurt.  “My fingers hurt!”  “Well now your back is gonna hurt, because you just pulled landscaping duty!”  Then our favorite Irishman Kyle O’Quinn apparently hit the Jameson too hard on the bench watching the Knicks implode, and fouled the crap outta Anthony Davis, causing the brittle 7 footer to fly into the stands and exit with a hip injury.

I’m sure that’s exactly what all Brow owners wanted to see, in a game with NO up 22 in the late 3rd… See, calling him KOQ makes all sorts of sense now!  We call that defensive play a “KOQ block”.  The Knicks ended up losing at home to the Pelicans, have lost 8 of 9, and have fallen to 17-21 (I erroneously on the Podcast thought there were still .500, man this fell apart quick!).  Yup.  The Poppycockers ladies and gents!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

Anthony Davis Before exiting, was going bazonkers on the PoppyCs for 40/18/2/0/3 with no TO on 14-22 FG (1-1 3PTM 11-2 FT).  Best big of the night, on a night of awesome bigs!  That sentence sounds like a weird riddle…  Anyway, he was able to take his flagrant FTs, then left immediately afterwards with a hip injury.  X-rays were negative and the Pels are off until Thursday, so hopefully it’s just a bruise.  Just a deep burn.

Donatas Motiejunas 16 minutes in his follow-up, for 3/4/3/2/0 with a trey.  Did have 2 TO which is annoying, but if Brow should miss Thursday, DMo would be a fun streamer.  Terrence Jones got 14 minutes and looked good as well (11/3/0/1/1), so maybe both get added run.

Solomon Hill In the box score it says he started at center…  “Solomon Hill C”.  I just find that funny.

Tyreke Evans I’ve been pretty anti-Reke when he’s compared with others in comments, and he was an OK 12/2/4 last night with 2 treys.  No D stats though and 3 TO?!  Bleh.

Ron Baker Doofy haircut is back!  Led the Poppycockers bench with 25 minutes of 6/7/4/1/0.  He’s your new backup PG while Rose is out!  Hah.

Kristaps Porzingis Rough game from The Goose, going 9/4/1/0/2.  He was coming off that Achilles soreness before returning this weekend, and this was his 3rd game back in 4 days.  At least he actually showed up for the game and didn’t get ejected…  So gets a little bit of a pass.

Russell Westbrook Yeah, you had a career-high in 3s the other day, but stop taking so many!  21/9/14/1/0 on 9-18 shooting in his typical line, but 1-7 3PTM?!  Could’ve been a mad efficient line!

Steven Adams Dude could’ve been just as successful as a TE in the NFL.  Russell goes breakneck speed down the court, and 2/3 of the time he’s dropping these little dumpoffs to Adams while the D collapses, and Adams gets an easy floater, or layup, or dunk…  It’s awesome.  22/5/2/0/1 on 11-4 FG.

Enes Kanter While the fantasy output isn’t huge, Kanter for 20/11/3/1/0 on 9-11 shooting jumped off the screen again while watching this game.  He just plows through 3 defenders for post baskets; these two OKC bigs are playing some unreal ball right now…

Jimmy Butler See Slim, this is what happens when you start pounding your chest too early.  All excited about his 5-game week from his Bulls against me in the JB vs. Slim RCL, Slim got a sick Jimmy Buckets go a measly 0-6 FG 1-2 FT for 1/2/7/0/0 with a TO.  Took some putrid shots, and the illness definitely seemed to be to blame – Bulls have already ruled him out for tonight.  Looking like only 3 games worth of production now for Buckets, Slim!

Nikola Mirotic Only 16 minutes of 3/1/0/1/0 for Slim’s other Bull, with 4 TO.  Boom!  Although with Dwyane Wade also getting rested tonight, it should be a big Miro game…

Michael Carter-Williams For the other team that Rose abandoned, MCW keeps looking pretty decent out there to me…  The line wasn’t huge, but 15/1/2/0/0 on 6-11 shooting with only 1 TO and 3-3 FT is pretty anti-MCW.  I’d be sure he’s owned in 12ers – tonight without Buckets or Wade might be a little breakout.

Cristiano Felicio So many vowels in his name!  5-6 FG in 24 minutes, going 11/11/1/3/0 and making Robin Lopez‘s life pretty annoying.  3/4/0/0/1 for Rolo in 26 minutes, and it’s becoming really tough to own the worst player in basketball…

Dirk Nowitzki Mighta been the lead if not for super NBA drama!  Dirk is back everyone!  Well, kinda.  26/5/4/0/0 with 5 treys, but if he takes a few less treys and misses a few more, it’s a pretty pedestrian ThrAGNOF line from a big man.  I mean, is he really that different than a rich man’s Marreese Speights?!  Dirk burn!  Plus you won’t get back-to-backs and who knows if he’s contributing by the fantasy playoffs.  I ain’t fast-n-holding.

Wesley Matthews 2 points.  Two!  Gave up the triples to Dirk I guess, only shooting 1-7 …  Single-digit scoring in 3 straight now.  He was playing pretty decent before this bottoming-out, and he’s still getting the minutes.  If you need 3s in a league where it’s tough to ThrAGNOF, I might shoot a buy low.

Harrison Barnes Another reason WesMatt didn’t do much – Barnes for 30/2/1/0/0 in his best Wiggins impression…

Seth Curry Even in 30 minutes, did pretty much nothing.  Just like the entire Mavs bench…  8/2/0/1/1 with 2 treys for Curry, with 3 TO.  No sous chef here!

Karl-Anthony Towns Full KAT attack!  34/11/4/1/3 on a mad hot 15-19 FG (2-3 3PTM 2-2 FT), scoring the first 20 points of that in the first quarter.  C’mon Thibodeau, play him all 48 and get him to 80 points!

Andrew Wiggins Ew, comparing him to that Barnes line was generous!  13/4/0/0/0 with 3 TO and 3-6 FT.  Yeesh.

Zach LaVine You kidding me?!  Also left last night with a hip contusion.  He’s like a mini-Brow out there!  5/6/5/1/0 in his 29 minutes before exiting late, but it sounds pretty minor.

Ricky Rubio Mi amooooooor, slicky Ricky!  13/5/15/5/0 in a fantastic line, hitting 7-7 FT.  Certainly having his ups and downs and looks like he-is-about-what-he-is at this point in his career, but it’s still usable!

I hope everyone had a great Monday night and got a nice piece of the light slate of action.  I’ll catch up with you again Thursday morning with the Pod and the Notes!  Shoot your comments below!

Let’s get Tyson Chandler back by trading some of our first round draft picks for the next few years. Then my Knicks would’ve reached full PoppyKOQ-ness. If Phil won’t do it, perhaps we hire Isiah Thomas, v.1 back. He’ll be all for that move.

I would like to get some of the following guys on the wire onto my squad…RoCo, Thad Young, Capella, J Rich, then maybe G Harris, JayM Green, McConnell, Clarkson.
Any of these you would switch out…Collison, Smart, Harrell, Warren.

    Thanks!

@miles proudfoot: Hahaha sounds like a good series of moves to me! Feel safer with Thad over Warren. If you need dimes, then sure McConnell over Colly for the time being. I’d hold Harrell and Smart tho

Ryan Anderson (CHA) or Favors (CLE) tonight?

i have a problem that probably isn’t a problem. 12 team league and no one on my roster is cuttable to stream. streaming is what keeps the season interesting! trying with no luck to swing a 2 for 1 trade. since picking up James Johnson I haven’t been able to make any moves. the hard part is none of my guys have ESPN multi position eligibility except Favors. take a look at this team, I’d imagine you wouldn’t advise dropping any of these guys:

    Steph Curry
    Schroder
    E Payton
A Bradley (my only SG, banged up)
    Crowder
    Wilson Chandler
    James Johnson
    Ryan Anderson
    Favors
    Horford
    D Jordan
    Vucevic

these are good players but the build doesn’t seem like a great fit. any thoughts? thanks

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@dom: Hah yup, no cuttable guys there! Streaming def makes like fun though. Usually it works it’s way out though with injury, or hopefully a trade. DJ really doesn’t fit ya, I might shop him plus something to a FT punt team

  3. MJC says:
    (link)

Yo, the Chandler Parsons Project is sitting in FA, worth the headache of adding and holding him?

    • Matt M. says:
      (link)

@MJC: If you have dead weight and can afford to sit him while he figures it out it is definitely worth it. If you need production now though don’t do it. He might not be useful until after the all-star break.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

        @MJC: @Matt M.: I think so, especially in 12er. 10er it might be tough

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@MJC: I think it depends most on where you are in the standings. Near the top, go for it. Near the bottom, you just can’t.

  4. Matt M. says:
    (link)

So do I just drop Rose for Jennings or wait until the dust clears and see what happens?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Matt M.: Mannnnn that’s tough. This is really really bad. Dysfunctional Knicks for sure haha. Not like Rose has a ton of upside except scoring, I think I would be OK with that swap

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Dysfunctional? How can a super team be dysfunctional?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Slim: Super dysfunctional makes for good drama!

  5. Clos says:
    (link)

Hey jb what’s going on man? Saw on the news you guys got hit with snow.. How was that? Lol.. Getting hit pretty hard here in Toronto right now.. So anyways would you drop gary harris, Brogdon or parsons for Jennings? 12er 9cat h2h

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Clos: Hah yeah our 3 inches is pretty rough, most people didn’t go to work the past 2 days hahaha. Stay safe as you get some real snow up there!

Well, now it’s looking like Rose is at least going to dress for tomorrow… So nah, i would hold

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Clos: What is this snow you speak of?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:

@Slim: It’s the white stuff that’s powdery that Miami would never see…

        • JG

          JG says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: oh i’m pretty sure there’s a lot of that white stuff that’s powdery in Miami. Might just not be the one that melts when temps are above 32F

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@JG: Hahaha yeah I don’t think it melt unless in a nasal cavity

  6. miles proudfoot says:
    (link)

How do you feel about my BroLo and Hayward for Turner and Harrison Barnes? I think I’m going to start focusing on securing specific cats like boards and blocks, lessening to’s.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: I’m hoping it’s Myles Turner not Evan Turner 🙂 Hah, I think you could get more value than that, does Turner owner have a better big man to be thrown in over Barnes?

      • miles proudfoot says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: yes Miles! Marc gasol instead of Barnes? I think cousins would be a hard sell, but could try a 3 for 2 by adding in someone else. The wire is a alright to fill that gap.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@miles proudfoot: Ohhhhh I like the Gasol one. I would do that version or try for Boogie, although Boogie won’t help the TO lessening…

  7. Bye Felica says:
    (link)

    Who’d you rather?
    Jennings or Hardaway

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Bye Felica: Kind of tougher than it should be. If everything is forgiven with Rose then it’s definitely Hardaway, but he is prototypical Thragnof. I might gamble on Jennings and see how it turns out. Jennings as a starter would win this by a landslide.

      • Bye Felica says:
        (link)

@Slim: Yea i know cuz ATL hasn’t played yet and his mins might be guaranteed unless Prince starts getting more run this year. Which seems doubtful since their in 4th place in the division. I might cut Nick Young loose for Jennings if he puts up another dud or gets less than 28 mins

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Slim: @Bye Felica: Seems like Rose got the pass for this. I’ll take Hardaway for right now. But yeah Swaggy can go

  8. Michael Shoesmith says:
    (link)

Currently sitting in first by a game in 9cat h2h 12 man league. Thoughts on holding Lin and J Rich?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Michael Shoesmith: Without IL, mannnnn Lin is hard. So is J Rich. I think holding one is OK, but I might move on from Lin, let that be someone else’s problem

      • Michael Shoesmith says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: That’s what I was leaning towards thanks JB!

  9. E says:
    (link)

So I’m usually pretty firm in the no vetoing trades camp but let me know if this trade is as lopsided as I think it is. 12 team h2h, 9 cat, non keeper

    Anthony Davis
    TJ Warren
    JJ barea

    For

    Kistaps porzingas
    Myles turner
    Jae crowder

    Thanks

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@E: Ugh, yeah I mean, I def want the Goose side. Brow is best in the deal though. I don’t like it, but unless you can prove collusion or those two owners know each other and you really really suspect it, I wouldn’t veto it

      • E says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: yeah it’s not getting vetoed and I’m not fighting for it. I don’t think the guys really know each other, just acquiantenes.

The team trading away Davis is in 2nd and the other team is in 9th so it’s just odd I guess. I don’t like managing other teams but this just seems foolish but it will go through.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@E: Agree, it seems foolish and annoying, but you gotta let idiots make idiot moves, then capitalize on that idiocy later once you know their trends ha

  10. Drez1 says:
    (link)

Yoooooo, what do you guys think about Montrezl vs. Bebe in a dynasty? I gotta drop one of them, but I’m looking at long term upside as opposed to ROS. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Drez1: I’ll go Trezl, I think he contributes more now, showing a little more, and could go into a year starting one day. I doubt that for Bebe

  11. Doctor G says:
    (link)

JayBee!! Quick trade question for you. Would you recommend trading my Paul Millsap for Hassan Whiteside in my 12 team H2H keeper league (keep 3). I just feel like Whiteside is a better fit for my team with Giannis and KD, and Paul has been brutalizing my FG%. Having a tough time finding rebounds and blocks in my league, and I think I could replace the few less dimes and steals much easier. Also, Sap is 31 vs 27 for Whiteside, so I get a bit younger as well. Really want to propose this trade to the Hassan owner, but I dunno, I just get this feeling that in a vacuum Millsap is a bit more valuable than Whiteside, plus Atlanta has an extra playoff game in the 2nd round. Really torn about this. What do you think?? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Doctor G: Dr. G, PhD! Yeah I would def do that deal, Whiteside isn’t young for coming onto the scene so recently, but he’s younger than Millsap haha, so yeah with ya there. And well, that’s IF Paul is on Hotlanta. I think it’s worth offering, although you def take a little more risk on for this yr

    Punt FT 10team h2h

Here’s how my lineup looks: Dragic,Bev,Oladipo,Holiday,Ariza,Covington,Mirotic,Warren,LBJ,TBooker,Whiteside,Deandre,Noah
    IL-Lin

Drop Noah for Smart,Tyreke,Aminu,Jennings,Hield,Jamychal,McConell,Rolo,Nurkic or Rondo?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tyler: Yeah I would prob be cutting, lots of guys I like. Lovvvve what Smart is doing, but you don’t really need his steals. I kinda like McConnell for your needs right now

  13. Jason says:
    (link)

Trade DJ and Danny green for Gortat and Beverley? Kinda wanna give up DJ and stop punting ft

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jason: OH for sure, that 100% works if you’re not full FT punt

  14. Tyler says:

how would you rank mirotic, agordon, aminu, louwill, carroll?
    10team 9cat h2h

@Tyler: I think I’ll go Carroll (safety in minutes), Miro, A Gor, Aminu, Lou Will

    F-Giannis,Hayward,Gay,Harkless,Mirotic
    C-Gobert,Turner.Horford

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tyler: I’m still going Reke. Your AST are a little iffy, but your TO are OK and no reason to make them worse for his blah-ness. Absolutely would get McConnell for him right now for your squad

      • Tyler says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: should i also drop Mirotic for DarenCollison or Aminu? Feel like TO is a punt with Wall and Giannis.

        • Tyler says:
          (link)

@Tyler: kinda want a somewhat high upside midterm to longterm player and mcconnel might lose value when simmons is back? No?

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Tyler: Yeah you might be punt TO… Actually helps my point to go PG IMO, and nah, Simmons is still a bit out plus will be minutes limited to death

            • Tyler says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: Def holding on Reke after tonight’s game. Should I also hold Mirotic or add Collison for the extra assists? or Aminu for the extra boards/ast? I’ve already got blocks locked up. Never lost that cat (11-0).

              • JB Gilpin

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Tyler: Yeah that was a good game. Still have my concerns, but he’s worth owning looking a little better. I think I’d take shot on Colly
