A shortened week 16 has concluded in our Razzball Elite league, and with a huge 8-1 win, Kap’s Team has taken over first place.  He sure Nashed them Potatoes!  For yours truly, a brutal loss that led to some ranting on the Yahoo smack board.  My gears were grinded!  My Potato was a stupid baked one and not garlic Nashed!  4 weeks remain in the regular season as teams jostle for the 6 playoff spots, including Slim sliding into 6th with a huge week.  Go get em Slim!  Keep the championship in the Razzball family!  Reactions from Slim and I below as we gear up for the week:

After an 8-1 win that temporarily catapults me into 6th place I should be feeling pretty good about making the playoffs right?  Well I’m not.  As absurd as it sounds Larry Sanders getting poked in the eye will end my season if I hold onto him.  Obviously he isn’t a $36 keeper at this point and can’t be sold as such but if I drop him then someone else will get him as a $1 keeper and that is entirely unacceptable.  What are my options?  1st option, concede.  Accept that I just don’t have enough to compete and use my remaining $5 of FAAB to attempt to find a keeper.  2nd option, trade Sanders.  I know that sounds impossible but it really shouldn’t be.  If I can package Larry plus a keeper to a non-playoff team I should be able to get 2 non-keepers back.  I tried this 2nd option with a few managers but I couldn’t coerce a trade offer that I felt would help in this coming week, at least help enough that I would be willing to lose a keeper for.  If I somehow make it through this coming week then I will probably try once again to trade Sanders plus a keeper for 2 non-keepers.  If I have a keeper your interested in and you have 2 non-keepers who are playing decent minutes then hit me up with an offer and maybe we can figure out a way to help each other out.

For me this coming week is the start of the playoffs.  I play the top seeded team and since the teams behind me have easy schedules remaining I can ill afford a loss.  Hell, I might not even be able to afford a 5-4 win.  I still have to try though and it looks now that the only way I can get better for this coming week is going to be through free agency.  There are two free agent pickups that have caught my eye.  The obvious one is Shawne Williams.  I doubt I’ll be able to get him with my limited funds but he’s worth throwing a dollar or 2 at just in case.  The one I really want though is Jordan Hamilton.  There’s plenty of risk due to the questionable status of Ty Lawson but if Lawson remains out next week then I should get the highest possible return for my money from Hamilton and his 4 game schedule which includes a day off on the heaviest schedule day, Wednesday.  It’s a risk I have no choice but to take.  I mean seriously, what’s my other option?  Concede?  Well my choice is just like that of Ted Cruz and the moral of Dr. Suess’ Green Eggs and Ham, I choose to disbelieve.

Surprisingly $3 was enough to get Shawne Williams.  I know his 10-day contract expired and I see 3 things could now occur.  1st, he doesn’t sign another 10-day contract and RKelly presumably gets his minutes back.  Since I own RKelly this isn’t necessarily a poor option for me.  2nd, he signs another contract with the Lakers and I get my 35 min per game, 3 game week.  This is another good option for me and the one I think happens.  3rd, he signs with another team.  He won’t get the minutes but he should still see a few and like the 1st option RKelly would presumably get his minutes back.  This is probably my best option.  Wish me luck this week.  I’m gonna need it.

In a season rife with disappointment, this was the most absurd loss of the year.  A loss by 6 threes when Trevor Ariza hit a franchise record against me, losses by 22 points, 15 boards, 2 steals and 6 blocks all in a shortened week against a banged up team was as unlucky as it gets.  Gustavo Ayon and Ronny Turiaf also put together season-best games, but hey, if Martyball was healthy, I would’ve gotten demolished – not discounting that.  Yet Martyball described it as a “beatdown”.  Don’t be surprised if you are replaced, homeslice!  I continue to aggressively shop pieces I’m not keeping and my $1 has a target as my last pickup.  I’m playing two of the bottom teams the next two weeks and if I finish above .500 and in the top 10, I’ll be fine with that.
