Week 13 has wrapped up in our Razzball Elite league, with The Nature Boy treating the rest of the league like his home state of North Carolina!  “Don’t even care!”  Seriously Ric Flair, you had to go pump up the 49ers instead!?  I’m with Steve Smith – bridge is burned!  Oh wait, this is fantasy basketball, we’ve still got a pretty big separation from the top 6 teams and the field, but Slim is surging and has a nasty team.  He just treated my team last week like they were a bunch of Generals to his Globetrotters… But more below from owners that weighed in on their squads as we recap week 13:

1.The Nature Boy  (79-35-3)

FAAB Remaining: $70  FAAB Moves this week: n/a

2. Like A Josh – IFBL  (78-37-2)

FAAB Remaining: $61  FAAB Moves this week: n/a

3. Kap’s Team  (77-39-1)

FAAB Remaining: $81  FAAB Moves this week: n/a

Despite going 8-1 and 7-1 the last two weeks, I haven’t made much ground on the top two teams and remain in third place. I play Like a Josh this week so hopefully I can make a run at the top two spots. What a week from Carmelo Anthony. I’m used to the near 30 points a night, but 62? That’s like getting an extra game from him. Too bad the game was a blowout or Melo might have made a run at 70 or even 80. Kemba Walker has been out with an ankle injury, giving Ramon Sessions the keys to the offense. He leaves something to be desired in the FG% and 3PM categories, but I’ll take the 13.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in the last 5 games. I remained quiet on the pickups front, but regret dropping Devin Harris a few weeks ago now that he’s back from injury.

4. Barking BassetHounds  (73-41-3)

FAAB Remaining: $20  FAAB Moves this week: n/a

Week 13 was a reminder to me of why I really don’t like the category of turnovers. Barking BassetHounds played a team whose manager has not been active since Dec. 22. His starting lineup had one noninjured player who is over 5% Yahoo owned. Thus we won all of the counting stats handily and split the two ratios. However the opposing manager was rewarded for his inactivity by a easy victory in turnovers. I really do not like counting categories where lower is better because these categories tend to reward inactive managers. I am sure this is just me though and in the bigger scheme of things relatively unimportant.

5. Cigar Smoking Monkey  (72-45-0)

FAAB Remaining: $6  FAAB Moves this week: n/a

6. Breaking Batum  (71-46-0)

FAAB Remaining: $82  FAAB Moves this week: n/a

7. Slim – Razzball  (63-51-3)

After a 6-3 win, the 4th in a row, I should have nothing but glowing, positive reviews right?  Wrong!  It wasn’t the usual players at the bottom of my roster that are struggling.  My troubles start at the top.  The Omen had a 5-game week in which he couldn’t average top 200 value, it felt kind of like…  The Larry Sanders Show, why he couldn’t even manage top 300.  Hey now Larry, I’d prefer if you didn’t do that anymore.  Amir Johnson and Roy Hibbert were slightly better but still being ranked around 125 isn’t cutting it for my ‘good’ players.  Jordan Crawford is down to 15 min per game and barely ownable, so I traded him for Cory Joseph, who I actually drafted back in the day.  Sure Terrence Ross had a big game but that came on the heels of 3 straight games with only 20 minutes.  Alec Burks has his issues contributing in fantasy, and a 2-game week didn’t help, but still I feel underwhelmed like he’s 90’s power pop.  Even though this all sounds terrible my strength doesn’t lie at the top of my roster.  Augustin, Brewer, and Carroll each put up top 20 value.  Jackson, Tucker, and Duncan managed a top 75 ranking.  And what about RKelly?  Should I worry about what D’Antoni will do with Ryan Kelly’s playing time even though he fits my squad like a glove?  Nonsense poopy pants, D’Antoni loves him and hates Jordan Hill.  Nothing to be worried about.  As you can see my real strength lies in my depth.  Even though I managed a decent win I still lost ground in the standings.  Currently I stand 6.5 games out of 6th place with 7 weeks to go, that’s a whole lot of ground to make up.  The problem I’m having is that the difference between the good teams and the bad teams is so great that the bad teams really stand no chance, hence why I can’t gain any games on the playoff pack.  My only hope for making the playoffs is that when the top 6 teams finally do play each other, one of them gets destroyed.

Well, there goes the season.  Sure I was hoping for a 4-5 game and only lost 3-6, but I lost Kawhi Leonard to a broken hand and I’m toast.  If that hadn’t have happened, I easily could’ve had a 5-4 or 6-3 win as LaMarcus Aldridge’s 2-14 day lost me FG% by .002 and I lost points by 70 which factored in Terrence Ross’ 51-point game.  I couldn’t be getting more hard knocks than Justin Bieber’s criminal record.  Plus Slim had a preposterous amount of blocks, like 4 from Damian Lillard, that gave him a win by 4 swats.  Three straight losses to top 7 teams, with a lot of marginal defeats in cats.  Been very frustrating.  Attempting to rebuild for next year now, as I’m 15.5 out of the playoffs, and 9 games behind Slim in 7th who has a really good team.  Yeah I can’t catch any of that.
