This is not for the fantasy faint of heart. This is the Razzball Commenter League Weekly Recap. In Fantasy Terms, This. Is. Sparta!!! This is a to-the-death battle of fantasy prowess on display. This is the article when we document the evolution of greatness. The separation of the men from the boys, right from the beginning. So, without further ado:

JB’s Random Commenter LeagueEven the league name is scary, penned from the creative genius that is our fearless Editor. Greatness Personified. His team, JB Gilpin (c’mon, save some of that character slam-dunking for your articles, JB!) however, was not great, going 3-6, and currently sits 9th. The team in the lead, both in points and in glorious team name is Baby Got Back, going a sexy 8-1 in week one.

All Country Ball Club. A fine league name for a dandy league. And Wrongsideof30 was on the right side the battle, leading this group of elbow sharpened gritty warriors with a score of 7-2. I’m looking forward to following this league, some great team names in there, like High as Greg Kite, and #hashtagsaredumb. Gold, Jerry, Gold!

JB’s Random Commenter League 2I know. The man just keeps on giving, but don’t worry, fans, JB has more creative juice where that came from. And speaking of juice, Mamba Juice leads this league after week 1 by a score of  8-1. The talk of this league, in this writer’s opinion, is the dude who think’s he’s Prince, and just put an emoji of a face giving us the double flip off as his name.

Razzball League 3 the Ringers. Beeeenga rocked the Ringers with a dominant 7-2 week one performance. And as you informed readers know, Benga is a style of African music to come out of Kenya, combining local instruments and a lively arrangement of guitars, base and vocals. Makes sense to yell it after a victory, like Arenas would yell: Hibachi!

Razzball Hardwood Classic. In this bloody arena, one team emerged victorious. And, as his name suggests, he did not emerge without sustaining damage. He is: Beasley’s Knees, dropping all opponents (well, technically just one so far) with a 8-1 performance.

The Double Bonus Fan LeagueMan, commish TBD Doug had a tough first week falling to 1-8, with the Draft Dodgers taking him down and leading the standings at 8-1.

That’s all for week one. As the action picks up , so will the articles. And should anyone be interested in joining a late Razzball Commenter League, please say so in the response section, I will set one up, to draft in the next week, and be up and running by week 3.

whos your starting SG in 8 cat H2H – derozan, korver, redick?

Are you dropping felton, jameer, tristan for any of them?

    Thanks!

@Zandy: I like Demar in that mix. He’s getting the most minutes, and 2 out of 4 games, he has been the Raptors top scorer. He will get the least 3pts out of all of them, but more assists, and likely more boards.
I would drop Felton for Derozan in a New York minute.

    aye just did 2 trades:
I got: Marcin Gortat for Korver
    I got: Durant/Afflalo for Paul George/Nowitzki

    howd I do?

Also I have bayless on my team, and am looking for dropping him for either: nicholson, s. blake, henry, g. green, gerald wallace…who would you pick up in that situation?

@Pavel: I like it. Paul George has been playing like he somehow signed a contact in blood to an Al Pacino, but KD is a stat stuffer, and will do better, not worse IMO, now that Westbrook is back, someone to drive and kick to him.

You didn’t give up too much to get Gortat, Korver is a man after my heart, shooting all those 3′s, but there is always a specialist out there: Battier, R. Allen, Novak (when he starts playing, injured still, it think), so don’t sweat it. Gortat going to a good situation, He’ll never put up the numbers he did with Nash, but a legit big who will get starter’s minutes.

Bayless for Green, I think, or Nicholson. Just my 2 cents.

Hey gentlemen, some trade advice here. This is a H2H Keeper league. We keep 5 each season. I’m having LeBron and Lowry offered for Kyrie and Steph Curry. Should I bite the LeBron carrot being dangled in front? After all he and Durant are the best in fantasy. Just awfully hard to let Curry go. This would leave me with Lin, Lowry, Cole, Farmer, and Wroten for PG. Other notable players I still have are Love, Klay Thompson, Hibbert, and Manu. Should I make the deal for LBJ or keep my PGs?

    • Dan A

      Dan A. says:
      (link)

@The Louisville Slugger: If you get a chance to get the best player in basketball and best/second best player in fantasy, you take it. And LBJ will be the king for many years. Curry has had injury issues for his whole career, except last. He is also a stud, but you gotta give to get. Lowry and Lin are no Irving and Curry, but generally the team who got the best player wins the trade, it has been said.

I think your assessment of Paul George in the preseason rankings was too negative, the dude is taking over the league!

@Zebo: Sure, but A. it’s really early and B. no George Hill in this game. I always said he’s a great real life player and may not translate to fantasy stats. Of course tonight’s line was great, but we’ll see how he finishes through 80 more

@JB Gilpin: I concur with the Boss man, it’s too early to conclusively say anything other than his first couple games were unbelievable. He was ranked 13 out of 400+ players. And the ranking starts with admitting that Razzball’s ranks were debatable. Who’s ranked above? D Rose, and K Love. Not exactly bums.

    H2H 14 team.

PG: Curry(SG), Conley, Bledsoe (SG), IT2, RJax
    SG: Burks, Waiters
    SF: Henderson (SG), Caroll (PF)
    PF: Nowtizki, Millsap
C: Favors (PF), Valanciunas, Henson (PF)

    Trade Conley for Batum?

    • Dan A

      Dan A. says:
      (link)

@draco21: Seems like you have depth at PG. Batum will give you respectable stats in just about every cat. Good trade, IMO.

Im in a H2H 9 cat league (DD instead of FT%)

Im looking for a BIG trade to help me in assists and steals, whilst not compromising my strength in rebounds by too much.

    PG – Conley
    SG – Stephenson
    G – T.Evans
    SF – C.Anthony
    PF – Ibaka
    F – T.Young
    C – P. Gasol
    C – J.Valanciunas
    Util – T.Thompson
    Util – A.Burks
    Bnch: OJ Mayo
    Bnch: P.Beverly
    Bnch: A.Varejao

Is it worth going after CP3 ? (thinking a trade involving Melo and Ibaka/Gasol/Conley for CP3 and a deep player)

or do you think the acquisition of beverly and Evans (if he ever gets out of his funk!) will be enough to help me out in those cats ?

P.S interested in that late starting league

    • Dan A

      Dan A. says:
      (link)

@JG: I like Beverly, a little less so for Evans, so whileI hope so for your sake, I can’t say with any confidence that the two will solve the issue. Remember, Melo is averaging almost 10 boards per so far, so definitely don’t trade Ibaka along with Anthony for CP3. Conley would be the best player on the list to add to that trade.

Sup Dan… Of course I have Tyson Chandler and now I gotta drop him but all I have left at center is Marc Gasol and Tristan Thompson… I know you don’t know who’s on my wire but Im in a 10 team league. if you know a couple guys that you know that’s good with low ownership, can you thROw me a name oR 2?? Ohh I was going to ask you do you think if I should Pickup, DeJuan Blair or Boris Diaw?? Thanks!!

    • Dan A

      Dan A. says:
      (link)

      @Frank White: Frankie, my man!
If I called your name in Snoop Dogg speak, would you be called Frizzle?
Don’t drop Chandler if you can help it, he should be back in 4 weeks or so. If you have to, look for Blair, Plumlee, V. Faverini, or Kris Humphries. Diaw brings more of a midrange/outside game, slightly less boards, but 3pt per game so far. Depends on what you want.
BTW, Both Blair and Diaw are going to be in my buy/sell article on Friday, barring a massive swing. Good eye for talent, Frizzle Dizzle, good eye!

      • Frank White says:
        (link)

Dan I already dropped him for Beverley but I need a center so should I drop Andrew Nicholson or Gerald green for either Diaw or Blair?? I need to do it tonight please

        • Dan A

          Dan A. says:
          (link)

@Frank White: I would try for Plumlee or Blair, I guess. Gerald green is getting blocks and 3pts, and Nicholson will get you more boards. Or look to Josh McRoberts.

  8. Frank White says:
    (link)

Oh I misread.. you said Blair but for which guy??? Oh… you would be dizzzle!! Lol

  9. Russ says:

    Hi Dan

I’m projected to really suck at blocks over the course of the season, like worst in my 10 team H2H 9cat league. Tyson Chandler just got dropped because of his injury. Is it too soon to pick him up on waivers? The big men I currently have in my lineup are Millsap, K Love, and Anthony Davis. Faverani is on my bench (I’d most likely drop him).

    • Dan A

      Dan A says:
      (link)

@Russ: Sorry for the late reply.
Tyson is a good stash on the bench if you can afford to do so, as he will be out 4-6 weeks. Blocks are hard to come by, Nene is just coming off of injury, and only owned in 55% of leagues, maybe you could pick him up? he had a pair of blocks last night.

My team is struggling in 3PM and blocks and I’m slightly getting down in turns too since Westbrook and Jenning’s return. I have Ellis-Parsons and I’m looking to swap them for Wade-Leonard. Will it be a good deal for me? How’s Wade’s health? Is trading my Love for Anthony Davis also a good move? Thanks.

  11. Dan A

    Dan A. says:
    (link)

I like the Wade Leonard deal, but as we all know, Wade’s health is a risk. He’s holding up for now, torched the Raptors on Tuesday.
Love for AD? I would prefer Love myself, he has been amazing to start off, was named Western player of the week for week one. But AD is no bum, and impacts more categories. If you’re down on 3pts, Trading Love won’t help you there.

    • John says:
      (link)

@Dan A.: I just made a couple of big moves. I traded my Kevin Love for Anthony Davis, and Monta-Parsons for Wade-Kevin Martin. I know Martin’s number is unsustainable but he is the starting SG for T’Wolves, I just hope his achilles will hold up. For D-Wade, I probably ship him off while he’s hot. What do you think? I’m very down in blocks, TOs, and 3PM. Did my move help me on these cats? I hope. Thanks.

      • Dan A

        Dan A says:
        (link)

@John: I like your idea of moving Wade while he’s hot. He is a high injury risk. AD is a block party, so you should be happy about that, and Martin is shooting very well so far, with a healthy dose of 3pts. Love was under performing so far in the 3pt category.
Try to flip Wade for Spencer Hawes, if you can pull it off, it’s doubtful Spencer’s fantasy owner will give him up for just Wade, but sniff it out, or perhaps Ibaka for Wade, for the blocks.
Turnovers are difficult to control, IMO, aside from not streaming a lot of point guards in your utility spots, so don’t worry too much about it, it should even out, hopefully.

        • John says:
          (link)

@Dan A: Is Hawes for real, I mean, its just the start of the season, I think he’s just riding his hot hand, but also he is the only good C for Sixers. Ibaka’s owner already said he’s off limits. I’m thinking of Klay, Hibbert, if possible Horford. I still have turnover prone guys in Westbrook, Kobe, Jennings, and Rubio. I can’t trade away Rubio because of his impressive steals and assists. Is it too much if I give Kobe-Wade for Love? I just love that dude. Haha. Thanks for your great insights.

          • Dan A

            Dan A says:
            (link)

@John: Hawes, from a fantasy persepctive, is not a flash in the pan. He put up good numbers last half of last year. Will he continue on this trajectory? I can’t see how he can continue to produce at this clip. But he will remain a valuable piece, and to trade D Wade for him, whom everyone was concerned about, health wise, I would be satisfied with that deal. I think Kobe-Wade for love is steep, but do what feels right.
