Man, what a horrid week for injuries!  Highlighted by the worst injury of all: yesterday we got news that JB Gilpin – yes pickup basketball superstar – rolled his ankle in his after-work pickup game on someone else’s fat foot.  That’s right, I got a kankle!  Some rough swelling, probably out 1-2 weeks, go ahead and give me that INJ tag!  No joke, this is the second time in a row I’ve gotten a kankle before a big trip.  Now I’m gonna be gimpy walking around Spring Training games on my baseball trip starting this weekend!  Stupid kankles…

Anyway, some lower-tier basketball talents also got news of rough injuries, of course highlighted by Kevin Durant‘s MRI revealing a Grade 2 MCL strain and a tibial bone bruise.  Stupid Zaza Pachulia flying around willy-nilly!  He’s going to be “re-evaluated” in 4 weeks, so there’s no way he’s making an impact on your fantasy playoffs.  Mayyyyybe he plays in the last game or two, but I highly doubt it.  According to BB Monster, he was by far the best per-game player and total value player, so it’s an unbelievable loss.  But hey, he got you to your fantasy playoffs (hopefully) and anything can happen week-to-week in H2H leagues.  Injuries are the mother-flippin’ worst!  Here’s what else went down across the NBA last night, including one other major injury piece of news:

Joel Embiid Thinking about grandma too much, and losing that EMBIIIIIIIIIIID!  Now more like EMBIIiiid.  His most recent MRI revealed worse meniscus tears, so the Sixers went ahead and ruled him out for the season.  His final numbers are unbelievable: 20.2/7.8/2.1/0.9/2.5 with 1.2 treys.  That’s like, best-case scenario Goose or Myles Turner?  Plus in only 25 minutes a game!  But 3.8 turnovers and only 31 games played are going to make it so tough to put a second round pick on him…  Maybe late-3rd, I dunno…  Hopefully the knee heals up and we can see him get to 60+ games and 28-29 minutes.  I think that’s best-case scenario…  And for one last time in 16-17…

Richaun Holmes The Sixers got rocked by the Heat last night, and Jahlil Okafor was awful again (6/7/2/0/1 with 5 TO in 22 minutes).  Leave it to Sherlock to solve the crime!  15/6/0/1/1 on 7-10 shooting as he just keeps on trucking.  I won’t say “must-own” in 12ers for Richaun, but I don’t have an RCL team where I wouldn’t take him.

Dario Saric As Will Smith would say, “WELCOME TO EARFF!”  10/6/2/0/0 with 3 TO in a tough game.  Still got 28 minutes in the blowout, so not like he didn’t have his chances.  I think he was on an epic hot streak, but he’ll be better than this.

Hassan Whiteside Looked really good in his 22 minutes.  15/11/3/1/4 and looks intent to finish the year strong after we had a lot of doubts how much he’d hold up late mentally…  Winning basketball will do that!

Tyler Johnson 24/2/4/2/0 with 2 treys on 8-12 shooting.  He was off a couple duds, so nice to see him back.  Playing the Sixers will do that!

Kristaps Porzingis Hopefully I can bounce back from my kankle as fast as Goose did!  20/9/2/1/0 with 2 treys in 30 minutes last night, playing at the 5 with Willy Hernangomez out.  Kyle O’Quinn got 19 minutes for 4/7/4/0/1 after initially reported he’d start…  Still, decent little line if you streamed the KOQ.

Evan Fournier Ugh, I liked Fournier a lot coming into the year, but I’ve about had it wih all the Magic.  Aaron Gordon only played 24 minutes (foul trouble and a bruised quad didn’t help), Terrence Ross and Elfrid Payton had duds…  Fournier was 22/2/2 with 2 treys at least, but man, couldn’t get some consistency against the Poppycockers at home, Orlando?!

Nerlens Noel Was late for a team flight, a great impression to make when you’re a new acquisition!  Would’ve been a perfect opportunity for minutes with Wesley Matthews out (hip), but instead Rick Carlisle started Dorian Finney-Smith and gave Noel only 16 minutes.  Captain N did start the second half, but pretty annoying.  Only 6/2/0/1/1…  Still holding, but it’s frustrating.

Yogi Ferrell There we go, Hot Yogi!  11/2/9 with a trey, and nice to see the assists creep up there.

Dwight Howard Here’s an idea!  We’re gonna play old-as-dirt Dirk Nowitzki on you and never have a capable center defender like Noel down low, so enjoy!  14/12/5/3/2 in 5-5 shooting for a rainbow line.

Ersan Ilyasova Six-Foot-Turkey got hot!  His interior temperature was 170 degrees, so he’s ready to carve!  6-7 from the field with 4 treys and 18 points.  ThrAGNOF!

Bojan Bogdanovic Big win last night for the Wiz, highlights by…  BoBo?!?!  27/2/0/0/0 catching fire on 9-12 shooting (6-7 3PTM 3-3 FT).  ThrAGNOF!

Marcin Gortat/Otto Porter Thanks to BoBo getting hot, the Wiz were in blowout mode with the second unit killing it!  Neither of these staples got to 20 minutes, but should be fine moving forward.

LeBron James Phenomenal game at Boston last night, in a wholehearted playoff environment.  Great national game for the NBA on ESPN.  28/13/10/1/1 for Bron with 3 treys, but twasn’t quite enough.

Derrick Williams – Maybe doing enough to be a deeper league target, getting a season-high 31 minutes.  13/3/0/1/1, and you can likely count on him for 10 points on most nights.  Took a lot of run from Channing Frye (13 minutes) in this one too, so you can likely give Frye the boot.

Isaiah Thomas Just a superhuman out there!  31/2/5/2/1 with 3 treys on 10-20 shooting.

Jae Crowder Nice bounce back of 17/10/2/1/0 with 3 treys and no TO.  Plus 5-10 shooting and 4-4 FT and you have a roto-frenzy goin’!

Al Horford Still in a bit of a lull, but was a mere point from a tripdub last night going 9/10/10/0/1 with a trey.  Good to see Big Al getting involved again.

Reggie Jackson Exactly what you need to do when you’re ceding pivotal minutes to Ish Smith.  Shoot 4-16 from the field in 29 minutes last night.  Argh!

Jon Leuer Your best Piston last night?!  22/7/1/3/1 on 11-23 shooting.  23 shots for Leuer?!  He was 0/5/0/0/0 on Tuesday night…  Yeah still not that intrigued in H2H 12ers, maybe roto though with the microscopic TO rate.

Anthony Davis No Boogie, no problem!  DeMarcus Cousins was suspended for all his technical fouls, so Brow had the whole paint for 33/14/3/0/1 on 11-17 shooting and 11-11 FT.  All these massive injuries, and Brow is still alive and well?!

Jrue Holiday No Boogie, hurray for Jrue!  Really struggling with the pair of picks sucking up all the USG, but was 22/4/5/1/0 last night.  Actually, this might be a perfect game to try and sell-high off of, I’m not convinced he can put up consistent numbers with the twin tower out there.

Nikola Jokic Playing like Westbrook, tripdubbing every night!  13/14/10/1/1 on 6-10 shooting for his second straight tripdub.

Khris Middleton Jason Kidd is gonna make me lose my mind.  The Bucks still have a chance at the playoffs, what is he doing?! Bring The Duchess off the bench to start Rashad Vaughn, and Vaughn plays 5 minutes with a -11 in his first stint and never gets back on the court.  What a joke, Kidd.  Regardless of the horrific coaching, The Duchess looked great, getting 31 minutes of 21/5/5/2/0 on 7-12 shooting (3-3 3PTM 4-5 FT).

Malcolm Brogdon Got the start and 34 minutes for a nice 17/2/3/3/0 line with 2 treys.  He’s on a nice upswing, but this is friggin’ Jason Kidd’s shitshow, where he’s starting Vaughn over Duchess…

C.J. Miles Another nice ThrAGNOF effort from last night, hitting 4 treys for 19/6/0/0/0.

Kawhi Leonard Kawhiiiiiiii!  Weeeeee, weeee, weeeeeeeeeee!

31/10/2/3/0 with 3 treys o 11-22 shooting.  Including that cold-as-ice game-winner.

Pau Gasol The bench role is suiting him!  18/4/2/0/2 with 2 treys.  If he keeps this up, he’ll end up being a pretty good asset despite the weird ups-and-downs-and-injury.

Nemanja Bjelica Another big chunk of run, with Gorgui Dieng‘s minutes on the decline.  Dieng was still OK in his 23 minutes (7/6/1/1/2 no TO), but Bjelica looked great, going 13/11/5/1/2 also with no TO and a trey.  I still don’t quite trust this flip flop enough to nab Bjelica in 12ers, but I would in deepers.  It could be a flip!  But could also be a flop, like the El Moussa marriage…

Derrick Favors Rough game for the Jazz, but at least D-Fave came off a dude (hah too funny a typo to fix) with a bounce back, with a 10/12/0/1/1 line in his 27 minutes.

Patrick Beverley If not for a 14-25 4th quarter, this blowout would’ve looked a lot worse for Houston trouncing the Clip!  14/12/4/1/0 with 4 treys for PBev, with a +32.

Austin Rivers With the Clippers healthy, even in a bad loss, they’re all falling into their normal roles where not much is interesting to mention in the Notes,..  But Rivers was decent, and led the bench with 26 minutes for 16/5/4/2/0 and 4 treys.  He was off an absolute dud, so good to see he should maintain a little value.  It’s outside of 12ers though, for me.

Jeremy Lin Hmmmm, well he had a good game, but still didn’t top 20 minutes.  I still have no faith in the Mess playing anyone consistent minutes outside of Brolo, and that is until they shut down Brolo…  17/2/5/0/0 for Lin with a pair of treys.  Sure, go ahead and add him if he’s somehow available, but I’m not that excited.

Willie Cauley-Stein Well, that’s annoying.  Shifted to the bench, going 9/5/0/3/0 on 2-6 shooting in 25 minutes.  Did hit 5-6 FT, and starter Kosta Koufos shot 0-7.  Plus the Kings just lost to the Mess at home.  Gus Ayonin’!

Skal Labissiere Got his first career start, and looked pretty good according to the numbers!  Shocker, I didn’t actually watch this game…  4-5 FG, 2-2 FT, 10/5/0/1/1.  Still well into the deeper league stash range.

Well, hopefully you had a better Wednesday night of hoops than me.  Lots of icing this morning on my kankle before work, and more afterwards.  And I hope you avoided this rash of injury bugs to Lowry, KD and Embiid!  I have a Lowry and Embiid team…  Smh…  Thanks for stopping by, Razzball Nation!

Who’d you rather have in order. Ariza, P. Bev, Warren, Dario, Seth Curry, and Holmes. Thanks

@Zoo: Whew, that’s tough, lot of team needs factors in this. I’ll lean Ariza, Dario, PBev, Curry, Warren Holmes

Naw, hope your kankle heals up fast bud! At least you’ll have a gangsta lean for a week or two.

Dude, I think I need to go ahead and drop either gorgui or Noel. Both offensively unreliable and i need someone to bloody score for me up front. I’m still not convinced that Noel will even hit the 10pt mark on that Ultra slow offense, and thibbs is def fading on Dieng these days. I won’t do my newly acquired Ross, as he’s still getting good minutes. Which of those two shall I drop for willy, Holmes, or big Sauce?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Thanks man! Yeah I’m gimpy today, hopeflly the airports im flying to have a lot of those motorized walkways haha.

Yeah, it’s not looking good for either. Agree on Noel, looks like he’s not gonna get the run especially after last night and the drama missing the plane. Holmes looking goooood, I’d be OK with that swap. Wanna see what Sauce does tonight tho too

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: ooooh TJones just got signed by bucks, so I’ll swap Noel for him first and see how that goes!

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: and if either Sauce or Holmes play great, you’re ok for me to swap them for gorgui? Or stand Pat? I know we both love gorgui but the only way he’s gonna score is of putbacks, now that KAT and wiggy are whoring the usage.

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@JB Gilpin: UPDATE! Haha I’ve been mixing and matching so many C’s on my 10er roto team. I’d continue doing this every week, but with limited pickups throughout the season, things are a bit tougher when picking from the crop. Only have 26 pickups left.. *gulp*

However, I just watched the Phoenix game and am in love with Big Sauce and think that he’ll have a higher scoring ceiling than Gorgui ROS, while maintaining some nice Obrds and %s, both needs of mine. So, I’ve gone ahead and made the swap. If Watson knows anything about basketball, he’ll continue to limit Len’s court time.

Heck, if things don’t work out, I’ll put in a claim for any of the bigs I’ve recently dumped in favour for T Ross, Big Sauce and TJones: Willy, Noel, Gorgui, Zeller, Holmes, Chriss all out there haha. I need that scoring son!! If Ross poops the bed tomorrow against MIA, I’ll drop his ass for the next best option. Heck, if Chriss can stop fouling early in games, I’d love to take a flier on him. Yeah I drafted Gorgui, but I actually don’t feel bad dropping him! My current crop of bigs, picked up for scoring and Obrds are Capela, Big Sauce, TJones (MAN I hope he gets 24 min+), Goose, Enes, and KAT.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: Ehhhhh, I dunno about Tjones there in MIL, I think Beasley could still out-minutes him when he’s back. INteresting spot for him tho, I just dunno about the PT. Yeah Alan Williams looks great, I am all for that move. 26 pickups is still a good chunk! I think Chriss has some nice scoring upside too, I would prefer him to Tjones.

      • Lasandro says:
        (link)

@jb Gilpin: interesting. So you’d rather Chriss over willy, Noel, Holmes and TJones for scoring and Obrds?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Lasandro: Ehhh, man these are too tough, I like these all! I think I actually might!

JB! I feel like I owe you (Grey, and the rest of the Razz staff) cases and cases of non-over-the-internet beers for all the fantasy championships you’ve delivered me. If you see a bachelor party of 12 meat-heads this weekend at Spring Training, ask for Rice and beers are on me!

So I’m not sure there are any moves to be made here but I feel like I have a lot of similar bigs. Nothing great on the wire, though, either. Make a move or sit tight?

Similar Bigs I’m holding: Hernangomez, Noel, Favors, Alan Williams

Wire options: Brogdon, BoBo, Rondo, Ish Smith

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Rice: Hah we will take you up on that! Wait, you going to ARI or FLA this weekend?!

Brogdon is the only real interesting one there for me, although I did add Rondo in a league, and felt dirty about it haha. But unless you had a major PG need I would prob hold.

      • Rice says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: We will be in AZ this weekend. Drinking Old Styles @ CHC on Saturday for sure.

I feel big heavy (and most are just average) but my guards are definitely legit so I’m not in “need” of one.

        Full Roster:

        Isaiah Thomas
        Kyrie
        Beverley
        DeRozan
        Covington
        Crowder
        Milsap
        Dieng

Yeah I think you’re just holding for now, if Brogdon was breaking out like this on virtually any other team, I’d be more about it. I just hate Kidd

JB! Wishing you a speedy recovery… Will you be on a minutes restriction on your return ?

Trying to make some minor lineup tweaks before the playoffs.

They start march 13th (week 20 in Yahoo after the double week for allstar break)

    I like the way my team has shaped up. – 12 man – 15 man rosters deep – H2H – 13 Cat!

    Wall/IT2/Hill/Seth/Co-Jo
    Lebron/Saric/Gary Harris/Tucker
    Brook/Howard/Turner/Monroe/Holmes/Plumlee

    What do you think ?

Anywhere you can see that I can improve off the wire ? Usually punt FT% & TO’s

    Needs would be PTs/Boards/Steals/Blocks

I could see myself losing Plumlee or Tucker

Available – Tony Allen, Monta Ellis, Skal Labissiere, Ersan, Valentine… nothing great there.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@BILL BLAST: Thanks man! Yeah I’m now an aging, injury=prone non-athletic big. They’re gonna really lighten my workload coming back, I think hard cap at 15 minutes, aka only a few pickup games a time when I’m back haha.

Cool yeah 3/13 is Yahoo standard, I like that setting. Yeah not seeing a great add, but def good losing Plumlee or Tucker. Your 3s look pretty decent, pass on Ersan. Ummmm, nah Monta is helping dimes and not much else. I think I would nab Allen for Tucker

  7. miles proudfoot says:

Sorry to hear that, feel better man and enjoy the trip!

Reggie Jackson was dropped. Would you get rid of Wes Matthews, Payton, GHarris, or McConnell for him. He’s kinda boo boo right now, so it’s mostly name recognition or bounce back over the next few weeks I guess.

In a different league, drop Broggy, Lin, Payton, WCS for Yogi? I feel like I ask a different variation of this question at least once per week haha.

    Thanks man!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: Thanks, really appreciate that! Hope I can hold up haha. Yeah I think I would still try and get RJax, maybe losing Wesmatt if your 3s are OK. Don’t like this hip thing or his downturn lately.

Hah any time! If your bigs are good, I would be ok losing WCS.

You taking Bradley or Crowder ROS JB?

Idk how much I trust Bradley getting back up to his season number. I can take either with a trade, the owner said it’s up to me so clearly he’s unsure as well lol.

I am locked into a bi week so I have 2 weeks to let Bradley get his minutes up. Worth the risk or go safe with Crowder? Their per game numbers are about 10 ranks apart.

  13. Not Your Average Joe says:
    (link)

So….I just traded TyJo (who is an 11th round keeper in our league) for Kemba Walker, whom the owner couldn’t keep (and he’s in 11th place and out of the playoffs). And this was based on your advice to not give up on my season after Lowry. So. There you go. Lord help me.

Still going to try and get help at FG with a big, though. Thinking of dealing Waiters. Maybe Waiters for Noel or Dirk?

Team now: Kemba, Conley, McConnell, Beal, Waiters, Batum, Markieff, A.Gordon, Millsap, Zingis, Gobert

    • Not Your Average Joe says:
      (link)

@Not Your Average Joe: At least one person is complaining about the trade as unfair (lol – it’s deadline day. Not my fault this guy sits in 12th place and didn’t put out feelers). So maybe Waiters for Noel will come across as more even? Not that Dirk has lit anything up this year.

      • Not Your Average Joe says:
        (link)

        @Not Your Average Joe:

In case you read this – if not I’ll repost in a new thread tomorrow morning – I also just traded Batum and a 3rd round pick for Jokic and a 6th round pick. I’M MAKING A RUN AT DEFENDING MY TITLE AND I’M GOING TO DIE TRYING. ALL FOR THE GLORY OF JB!!!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Not Your Average Joe: Haha, hell yeah man, love that deal! I dunno if Tyjo cracked you keepers anyway. KEEP THE HOPE ALIVE! I like Waiters for Noel given needs, but that Batum deal is MONEY. Such a FG% swap, it’s like 16 or 17% of FG boosted!

  14. Plumlee and all his brothers .... says:
    (link)

    Good after noon JB ! i’m in a 12 team h2h daily 9 cat no TO 3 bench no IR with 4 moves a week. Ive used 3 this week. I’m in a battle with 2 other teams for 7th or 8th playing the 8th team down a half a cat for 8th spot. MY team is 5-12 FGM, 6-11 FG%, 8-9 FT%, 3-13-1 3point, 4-13 points, 7-10 REB, 11-6 AST, 7-10 ST, 14-3 BLK

G— Schrodder, McConnell, Gary Harris, Tyler Johnson,
Forward— Anthony davis, draymand , horford, Favors, KOQ, Plummlee
    Center— ROLO, KOQ, Turkic

I’ve used 3 of my 4 add drops so far this week. and i’m winning 5-4 would you pick up Willy Hernangomez ( doubtful )( might have 1 game left this week ) ZAZA ( 2 ), Bjelica ( 1) , C Zeller ( 2 ) , Dedmon ( 2 ) , Zubac ( 2 ) Ty Law ( 1 ) , Hield ( 1 ) Yogi ( 2 ) or Lin ( 2 )in place of Plumlee ( 1) ? I feel all he’s good for is FG% and assist and steals are OK. I feel like I could probably get 3 -4 assist and occasional steal and decent FG% from Lin or ZAZA. Having KOQ and willy is probably not the best and yogi will hurt my FG % but he’s decent at the other cats. I know I’m grasping at straws here but I’m looking for a lil help and guidance ! Thx man !! BTW big guys like Holmes, allan will are gone. Sorry for such along msg just trying to give you all my info

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Plumlee and all his brothers ….: Hey man! All the info is encouraged! Yeah I’ve been kinda against him, but I think the 2 games and the need for another guard have Lin the pickup for you. Those extra dimes and a steal or two plus a trey or two seem to fit, at least for as long as Lin stays healthy haha

@BILL BLAST: Yeah I would be OK with the flier there, although I’m not expecting a ton from Tjones

What do you think of trading away Brook for Horford? I just don’t see him playing much more games this season…

@Marshall: Definitely good with that, a little more upside for more safety. Especially if you looked primed for a deep playoff run, and even more so in a roto league

Definition of dumb: dropping Kanter after his first game back cuz I have good bigs in a 12 teamer and OKC has a crowded front court with Taj in town. So let’s chase threes with Mirotic after
two nice games and an open window to playing time. Ugh.
Kanter is better than ever, Mirotic still can not be trusted. Dropped him for Sherlock. So I drop a 75% owned player for a 10% guy. That is how I do it.

This move couple with Lowry’s injury make me doubt my worthiness to roam the planet.

@Johnc: Haha lets hope the #KanklesIndeedDo appreciate it! I still don’t think it was the worst move in the world, Miro offers 3s and blocks which are different than FG%/Pts/Reb. But yeah, Holmes is looking like a stocks guy for real

@james: Tough to not take Alan Big Sauce right now… So I won’t! More upside there

    Whats good JB!

Im on a pre deadline tear annoying the F&$K out of all my league-mates not doubt. Thought i should let you know how my ‘get rid of Bledsoe sweepstakes’ turned out since ive been posting here about it for some days. Dude who has Derozan turned me down in the end but today managed to swap him for Klay…from a guy whose team name is ‘fifty shades of klay’ no less. Im a dubs fan so i have that bias but i gottta think with Bled gving up minutes to Ulis and Klay compensating for KD down the stretch its a decently smoov move.

I also traded Tobias Harris for Oladipo. I guess the value with Harris is his %s but he’s been annoying me for months with low scoring and no d-stats so i figured i could lose him for Oladipo who has 6 games the final week of playoffs in my league (our schedule is different from the one you have broken down on the site here).

Only an hour to go and im trying to figure out a swap with a guy who wants to rid himself of Gortat and Ariza and wants my P-Bev. I wouldnt mind grabbing them with Gortat having 4 game weeks the rest of the way though man Ariza’s %s have been brutal lately. He also has K-Love IL and i kind of want to swoop and stash him for the last 2 playoff weeks (i should manage a bye in the first week). Id ask advices of you but only 65 minutes left til no-tradey time.

Good luck with that kankle bruh.

@Court Vision: Oh yeah the Bledsoe sweepstakes! I probably would still rank E Bled a smidge higher, but I think I remember your build needed more treys. With ya that there is prob more safety through the playoffs. Love that Dipo deal, nice buy low while he rests his back.

Yeah we broke down Yahoo standard which is Monday MAr 13 and those 3 weeks, cutting out last 10 days.

Yeah sorry man, was asleep 🙂 But hell yeah, Gortat AND Ariza for only PBev?! That would be a slam dunk, hope you go it!

Hah appreciate it, it looks pretty gnarly but I can walk on it…
