Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

Andre Iguodala has been a source of contention in the comments recently.  Some people just want to cast him aside and leave him for dead (I may be exaggerating slightly).  Not me.  No man left behind is my motto (unless your name is Andrew Bynum, to hell with that guy).  Especially a man that was a top 50 player last year.  A man who once only hurt you in FT% and contributed across the board everywhere else.  This year he is not the same man.  A career low in FG%, REB, STL, and a nearly career high in TO’s (not to mention his lowest AST since ’05-’06).  Perhaps it is the high altitude, or maybe he is declining at the old age of 28 years.  I say that’s hogwash and I’m not sure why I say it like that, because I sound like my 80 year old grandmother.  Nevertheless, I firmly believe that he will figure out his role on the Nuggets and you should own him before he does.  Well, unless you can’t take that FT% hit.

Injury quick hits:  Carmelo Anthony sprained his ankle and is day-to-day.  Jrue Holiday has a sprained foot and will be a GTD.  Kirk Hinrich is getting an MRI on his knee… Nate Robinson may be a good short term pickup.  Wesley Matthews sat out with a hip issue and is day-to-day.  Pau Gasol sat out with knee tendinitis again.

BUY

Kenneth Faried – Have you ever tried to capture a manimal?  It isn’t easy, but right now he’s wounded and thus the perfect time to strike.  Averaging 10.6/7.7/1/1.3/0.6 over the past two weeks, look for him to have more games like his most recent one on Wednesday (26/14/1/3).  Quick!  I can see him gaining strength already.

Greg Monroe – Had a pretty great November and then started tanking in December.  I think he caught Roy Hibbertitis, such a nasty thing.  You’re supposed to get vaccinated every year, but it looks like Monroe is afraid of needles.  I wouldn’t expect his 37% FG over the past two weeks to hold up, and we should see a spike here soon.

Kevin Love – Sometimes buying and selling can be like going fishing.  The bigger the bait, the bigger the fish you can catch.  This is a damn big fish so make your offer a bold one.  This was a consensus top 4 player before the injury and after his slow start, it may be time to see if some owners are overly worried.  I’m going to go out on a limb and say his 36% shooting won’t hold up since he is a career 45% shooter.  Happy casting!

Jeff Green – I like to put at least one guy on here that is widely available.  At 14% owned, I think this would qualify.  Green looked phenomenal in the preseason and then reminded everyone why the preseason means nothing by actually doing nothing until about two weeks ago.  Since then, he has been averaging 16/4/1/0.8/0.5 with 1.5 3PM and 49% shooting.  Pick him up as a flyer if you got some bench space, he’s got the pedigree to be a good contributer.

Sell

Joakim Noah – You can’t put lipstick on a pig Joakim Noah and call him a model.  I mean, I guess you could but then we would be using the term model loosely.  This has no fantasy relevance at all, I just want to illustrate how ugly he is.  Noah has been a top 10 player this year, no joke.  How is this possible?  Well, the career numbers in… everything certainly helps (career FT = 73%, this year = 81%!!!).  Not to mention the 10 minutes per game bump he has received this year.  I have no freaking clue (and I don’t think Thibs does either) how this guy is going to play 40 minutes every night without breaking down.  If I owned him, I wouldn’t sit on him all season.

Robin Lopez – The forgotten brother.  The (literally) Robin to Brook’s Batman, but without the homoerotic suit.  He’s been pretty good this year compared to year’s past, averaging 11/6/1/0.6/2 and a career high 77% from the line.  I’d look for the FT% to regress to his career 72% average and also think the the return of Anthony Davis may eat into some of his lines.  In fact, the past two games with Davis back he has scored a total of 8 points.  Sorry Robin, there’s a reason no one wanted you in the new batman films.

C.J. Miles – Filling in for Dion Waiters while he is sidelined with an ankle injury, Miles has been more than serviceable (roughly 21/2.5/0.3/0.8/0.5 with 3.5 3PM).  This is just a warning to everyone that once Waiters is back, this guy will go back to warming the bench.  Before Waiters got injured, he was getting really really good at waving towels and holding teammates back.

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Hans: In a heartbeat I would do that. Love is a better rebounder and hits a ton of 3’s while not destroying your FG%. Aldridge does have an advantage in blocks and FG% but Love has the better fantasy game.

    • Eric says:

First I would like to say thanks again for helping. I’m huge into fantasy football and a buddy of mine let me into a basketball leaugue, obviously. lol but I dont know much about all the players. Just enough what I get off sportscenter. So I’m excited to be a part of this to learn and as of now I’m in 2nd place. Anyway ther are 10 teams in the league. Its head to head but its 11 categories and I play someone new each week. It isnt where \if i win it’s
1-0 it”s where i have to win asmany categories as i can by the end of the week and when the week ends whatever the score is, for example 7-4, is what ends up on the scoreboard. So if I was 7-4 one week and then 4-7 the next week then my total score would be 11-11..lol wow that was alot

      James Redacted says:

@Frank Lynch: Gotcha, no problem…we’re glad you are here and we’re happy to help. I think your team looks fine right now and since you’re sitting in 2nd you probably think so too. Who is on waivers in your league?

  13. Frank Lynch says:

    non keeper

  14. Eric says:
    (link)

Drop Robin Lopez or Kevin Seraphin for Alexey Shved, who might start alongside Rubio?

    • Zandy says:
      (link)

@Eric: I’d drop Ro Lo personally now that Davis is back I cant imagine him cracking 25mpg

      • Eric says:
        (link)

        @Zandy:

So hard to do because of his blocks – 2 a game. Blocks is the rarest of all fantasy categories, more so than steals, assists, rebounds, 3s. Sigh.

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Eric: I don’t think I’d straight out drop RoLo yet because I’d rather see if I could sell him to someone first. Right now if you want to drop someone then drop Seraphin but I wouldn’t. Shved has to share time with Barea, Lee, Ridnour, and Rubio (when he’s back). I just think Shved will be too inconsistent to be rosterable.

      • Eric says:
        (link)

        @James Redacted:

Yeah that’s true. Just can’t figure out I’ve lost 3 weeks in a row in assists when I have Rondo, Lillard, Mo Williams, Jameer, & Lebron

        • James Redacted

          James Redacted says:
          (link)

@Eric: Oh wow… bad luck, injuries, and suspensions?

          • Eric says:
            (link)

            @James Redacted:

Yeah and the other team got hot. I’m still behind by 10 assists this week going against a team w/ 6 PGs – Vasquez, J. Crawford, Kyrie, D. Collison, Dragic, and Teague. Didn’t help that I’m up against Batum too, who had 8 assists last night lol.

  15. Carnac says:
    (link)

Ok, James and/or Razzball-Hivemind… What’re your thoughts on Ed Davis? Is he going to get some solid playing time with Bargnani sidelined? Or is he going to be splitting time with Amir Johnson so much that this Raptor’s value becomes (*pinkie to mouth*) extinct…

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Carnac: I’m putting my money on the Raps giving Ed Davis alot of burn. Yeah, Amir might see a slight uptick as well but they gotta figure out if Davis has a future on the team. They’re not exactly playing for a playoff spot. Roll the dice on Davis for now.

  16. Lance says:
    (link)

Looks like Lee is out indefinitely. Does that change anything for Shved? Still too crowded? How would you rank Shved, Danny Green, Belinelli and Korver? Thanks.

    • Eric says:
      (link)

      @Lance:

I’m not the writer of this blog but I’d go w/ 1. Danny Green because of his defensive stats, 2. Korver because of his elite 3s, 3. Shved because of his potential as the starting 2, and 4. Belinelli. Short term, Belinelli might be the best option here until Hamilton comes back, but after that he has no value, so if you’re looking for a plug-in for one week than Belinelli.

      • Lance says:
        (link)

        @Eric: Thanks Eric.

  17. Frank Lynch says:

should i keep derrick favors and kawhi leonard or should I drop one of them for someone else? I was looking at Corey brewer or Jeff Green. should I make the waiver move or keep them?

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Frank Lynch: keep favors and leonard

  18. J Money says:
    (link)

Do you think it would be worth it to move Howard for love in a 9 cat h2h league?

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@J Money: Depends on your team composition. Did you build around Dwight Howard when you drafted or is he the only guy destroying your FT%?

      • J Money says:
        (link)

@James Redacted: he is pretty much the reason I lose FT% every week, although I just received deandre Jordan in a trade because I knew I could throw the category. Getting love would definitely help my percentages, but after last nights game, would I still want him with injury concerns?

  19. Nick says:
    (link)

Ok so I’m dropping Antawn Jamison but my question is for who out of these players?

    JR Smith
    Arron Afflalo
    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
    Nene Hilario
    Ricky Rubio
    Gordon Hayward
    Larry Sanders
    Lou Williams

    • Eric says:
      (link)

      @Nick:

Not the blog writer but here’s my 2 cents. It depends on what you need.

If it’s a center that blocks Sanders is elite.
If you need a SG/SF I’d go Afflalo, JR has more upside but less consistent.
If you need a PG Rubio has the most upside

But wow, your league must not be very deep to have all those guys available.

      • James Redacted

        James Redacted says:
        (link)

@Eric: Agree with the Center and PG. I’d rather have MKG or Hayward as a SG/SF over Afflalo or JR.

  20. dan says:
    (link)

Hi, I’m in a 20 team league running head to head with points. I’ve got
    (PG) Jrue, Jennings, and Shved
(SG) J.R., Manu, Bellinelli, Toney Douglas
    (SF) CJ Miles
    (PF) Tristin Thompson
    (C) Al Jefferson

I dropped Aminu for CJ Miles. Do you think that was a bad move? Also i’d like to add Spencer Hawes. He’s on free agency and he’s doing better. Is it worth picking him up and if so, who should i drop? thank you

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@dan: Leave Hawes on the wire. Dropping aminu was fine.

  21. Fantastic J says:

    Hey guys,
New daily reader of the blog here. I’m in a 12 man, H2H points (no individual cats) league and need a bit of advice. Someone just dropped JJ Reddick, should I scoop him? If so, who do I drop?
    Current lineup:
PG: Ricky Rubio, Brandon Knight, Tyreke Evans
    SG: Bradley Beal, Vince Carter
SF: LeBron James, Metta World Peace
PF: Paul Milsap, Dirk Nowitzki, Ed Davis
C: Joakim Noah, Spencer Hawes, JaVale McGee

Will take advice from anyone, cheers!

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Fantastic J: I think I’d leave him on the wire. Alot of his value is 3’s and in points leagues you don’t get any bonus for hitting 3’s.

  22. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

Hey James sorry i missed your messasge
. I dont know0 any of the players on the waivers but i just look at stats carefully. I know tha guy you have under your buy list, Jeff Green is on there. should i grab him? who ashould i drop is so? Also what you think about Jodie Meeks or Corey Brewer. They both look hot but thats all i know about them. Pleas let me know

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Frank Lynch: In a 10 team league you can leave those guys on the wire. I’d hold for now.

OMG. I didnt know your out west. Lol sorry im in Jersey. Plus I’m up this early cause i got 2 year old twins so i wish i was sleeping… Lol

    or maybe isaiah thomas?

  25. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

we can only do 4 waiver moves a week. Do you think its a good idea in my kind of eague, which I can switch everyday, to sometimes switch and pick up guys on waiver wire cause that player plays more games that week? Or sometimes if im losing in the steals catergory and up on points, to grab a guy with alot of steals and maybe sucks at other categories??? I hope I’m not annoying

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Frank Lynch: Thats a perfectly fine thing to do but make sure you dont drop anyone too valuable. I usually save this strat for the playoffs.

  26. Pavel says:
    (link)

Aye, in a 16-team deep head to head league, would you trade
    KG+Lou will
    for: All Horford?

    • James Redacted

      (link)

@Pavel: If there is someone decent sitting on waivers, yes.

      • Pavel says:
        (link)

@James Redacted: do you count cartier martin, duhon, bismarck biyombo, and jj barea decent pickups?

    • Pavel says:
      (link)

      @Pavel: my team:
Pg: Dragic, George hill, Aaron Brooks
Sg: Nicolas Batum, James Harden, Lou williams
Sf: Josh Smith, Mickael Pietrus, Turkoglu, Odom
Pf: Metta World Peace, Markieff Morris, Seraphin
      C: Monroe, Bynum

      • James Redacted

        James Redacted says:
        (link)

@Pavel: They are serviceable in a 16 teamer. I think I’d take the Horford side cause I’m confident his FT% will bounce back.

  27. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

Yeah most of my guys are at least 70% owned so Its hardto drop them but when i picked up kawhi Leanord I have no idea who he is I just like i said, took an interest in digging into the stats on waivers and I googled him and he sounded good and was said he was a monster in steals. Its just that i had him for a couple weeks and its killing me that i gotta wait for him instead of add/drop. thats like 4 games a week I miss outon so now that the team i”m playing has more games every week. I’m not sweating it so much though cause I’m winning but I wanna stay winning… so you def. think i should wait him out and also keep Derrick Favors????

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Frank Lynch: Yeah, you have a strong team. Better to sit on high upside guys like Leonard and Favors for now if you can afford to. You can.

  31. Mike says:
    (link)

Teague, Kidd, Shved, Kawhi, Richardson, Lin, Korver, Jack, Favors, Hickson, Seraphin, Nene? Pick two the best 2 as a stash?

    Line up:
    PG:Westbrook, Conley, Jennings
SG/SF: Durant, Gerald Wallace, JR Smith, Afflalo
PF/C: Love, Monroe, Hibbert, A. Davis

    Bench:
    Lin
    J Rich.

I usually leave 2 spots for waiver wire and spot starts. I’m looking to stash one now. I’m weak in FG%, FT% and assists now. So far, I’m looking at Shved/JKidd/Kawhi as a stash.

Also, Any possible PG thats the equivalent value of Jennings? I’m thinking Jrue/Dragic/Rondo. Am I selling myself short? I only value Jennings for the steals. I have Westbrook and Conley it it wont pan out.

  32. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

hEY WHATS UP. As of now im in 2nd place and the guy thats in 1st took corey brewer from waivers. Do you still think i shouldnt have picked him up? There was no room on my team right. meaning was there anyone worth dropping for him? Sorry was just worried I didnt make a mistake not taking him when i could. Also Jason Kidd is on waivers…. Any good?

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Frank Lynch: You did not make a mistake, let him have Brewer. I think I’d rather have Kidd over Ilyasova. Ilyasova has just been so disappointing. BTW, I have a new post up today so make sure to post any further questions on the new post.

  33. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

Yeahthanks bro.. Andrew Bynum is taken in my league though.. Do you still think I should get kidd or I still see Jodie meeks which is hot right now or Jeff green whos on your buy list. I can drop ilyasova cause like you said, hes playing shitty again? Let me know please

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:

I also got a trade proposel sent to me… They want Parker. In return, kyle lowry and bradley beal… What you think? idk thimk i like beal. I can tell you who he has on his team if you think i should counter offer?

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:

@Frank Lynch: When healthy Lowry is better than Parker. I think I would do the trade.

  35. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

i saw the post i think… Its on top of the page about Andrew I and Bynum right? If not then tell me where it is and I’d be honored to read it! Damn I already grbed Jodie Meeks for ilyasova. But I”m putting in for Kidd for meeks right now cause its a waiver and I’m number 7 on the waiver so if someone else ahead of me grabs him I at least got Meeks.. Do you agree or do you think I should’ve stayed =away from him? I can always grab Jeff Green instead… What shoulds I do?

Thanks man will do… So what do you think about what I said??

  38. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

i haven’t heard from you, If i cant get Kidd cause if i get waiver blocked, should i keep meeks or go after jeff Green or this guy Tyreke evens is on the wire… What would you do if u were me? I’m up 8-4 so far this week and still in 2nd place

  39. Frank Lynch says:
    (link)

I ended up getting Jason Kidd and dropped Meeks. IDK why nobody else went after Kidd… Is there any reason I should be worried? Like you said in your blog that you like Jeff Green. Do you like Kidd over him Or what about Tyreke Evens ?
