The league is finally taking notice of the Denver Nuggets win streak of 14 games (there’s not another streak going on is there?), as they survived a near upset to the terrible 76ers at home last night. The Nuggets are 31-3 at home. Rocky Mountain air! Get me an oxygen tank! The 76ers owner even slammed his team on Twitter. Doug Collins has got to be about to go on a Mel Gibson-esque tirade. Maybe paint his face like Braveheart and drive the tanker truck from The Road Warrior like in South Park. If he coaches again next year, it will be the biggest accomplishment in sports. We used to say that Oscar Pistorius, but you don’t hear that as much anymore.
Led by the late game heroics of one of my biggest supported players since I took over, Corey Brewer brewed up 10-18 FG (5-6 3PTM) 29 Pts 1 Reb 5 Stls and 1 Blk. “Stealin’ and Shottin’!” Imagine I said that like Spike Lee’s “Stoppin’ and Poppin’, Postin’ and Toastin’” and you get the frame of mind I’m going for. Hey, I’m white, spoken word isn’t my forte which is why I’m writing this blog, not on the street corner yelling fantasy advice with a megaphone.
Here’s what else went down last night in the NBA:
Nate Robinson – Used my fantasy vitriol as rocket fuel to throw down this nasty dunk last night. “That JB Gilpin is such a ponce I will use it as fodder for my upcoming match this evening.” Reportedly that’s what he said in the locker room to reporters. Still only went 4-12 FG with 8 Pts and 9 Asts in 31 minutes off the bench. Not bad, but not good. Still playing behind an equally bad Kirk Hinrich. Hate continues.
Andre Miller - Got the start with Ty Lawson missing the game with the ironic injury of his heel. Musta been stuck in tar-ty-har-har! Doesn’t sound like Lawson will miss much time, but might give Miller a few extra minutes. In 40 last night, the old vet went 9-14 FG 21 Pts 3 Rebs 8 Asts and 1 Stl. Worth a look especially with the gimpy Ty.
Jrue Holiday - 18-6-15-4-1. Monssssssster. Too bad he effs up a late position unaware of the shot clock. Fantasy owners don’t care.
Dorell Wright - Fantasy owners do care when you don’t do anything after a solid run. 0 Pts 1 Reb 1 Ast 1 Stl in 15 minutes. If that’s one of the outcomes of a Wright game, later bro.
Damien Wilkins - Has gotten a few starts and had probably his best game of the year going 10-15 FG (2-4 3PTM) 24 Pts 1 Reb 2 Asts and 4 Stls. Worth a look in deeper leagues, but with the mess that is the 76ers, don’t expect anything consistent.
J.J. Hickson - 9 Pts and 21 Rebs. Easy to get a 20 board game with Nate Robinson throwing up bricks on the other team.
Marcus Thornton - Only 10 minutes and 2 points last night… Sorry, means less ThrAGNOFF. A big reason was probably…
Tyreke Evens - … back to full strength and played dirty in 39 minutes in a Kings win. Did you know they are 19-15 at home? If you move them they will win like, no games. Evans was 8-11 FG 21 Pts 5 Rebs and 5 Asts. Efficient.
Nikola Pekovic - Like I said in his last start, I think he looks fine and returned to his double-double ways going 18-12. Be sure he’s activated on your roster if you IR-ed him, or see if any desperate owners cut him loose.
Chase Budinger - After missing virtually the entire season, the human pastry went 9-4 in 18 minutes. Not terrible at all. If you are in a deep league and need a flier player for scoring, he might be your guy.
Tournament Update: The Razzball March Madness pool is led by DrooNutz with his Jan-Feb-Izzo-April bracket getting 14 of 16 games right in one day of action. You missed the Harvard upset man! But so did 95% of America. I’m right there with 12 of 16 and no Sweet 16 teams knocked out yet. Full update will come once the Sweet 16 is rounded out.
Game Tonight: The Heat go for 24 against the Pistons! Should be an easy win, but as we’ve seen from streaking teams, the Cavs and 76ers have proved tough foes. I will be tweeting out updates just to be in the Twitter influx of LeBron tweets. Have a great weekend Razzball Nation!
