The biggest swing week in fantasy basketball happened. It totally happened. I went to bed at the end of last week nervous as all get-out that this week wouldn’t happen, fell asleep, woke up and BOOM – week two!And it didn’t disappoint. Only three of 60 players remained in the same position they were in last week: the two first place teams and the last place squad. Everyone else fluctuated, including Brooklyn Shine who had the steepest dropoff falling from fourth overall to 30th after losing Eric Gordon, Rip Hamilton and Mike Conley. Ballin B’ Belated made a titanic surge jumping from 46th to 10th on the wings of key FA pickups MarShon Brooks, Spencer Hawes, and Al Harrington.
Below is a slope graph of this week’s movement. All RCL scores and averages are stored on this spreadsheet right here or download the full thing here. All scores and stats count up to and including Wednesday’s games (Jan. 4).
Good luck in week three.

What kind of line can I expect from Mehmet Okur? Is he worth a Waiver Claim in a 16 team league?
@ringo: I don’t see a big improvement on the line he’s putting up now: 9/7/2, with about three 3ptm every two games. Maybe he straightens out his shot, shoots over .400 and averages 11-12 points, but really, this is it. Never mind what happens after all of New Jersey’s bigs are healthy.
Hey Adam,
If you had to drop one would you drop Kyle Irving or Devin Harris?
Also, now that almost 2 weeks has passed, is your top 5 fantasy ranking still the same? Do you think CP3 is still a good choice for the third pick even after the trade to the clippers?
10 team H2H keeper league:
Should I trade Toney Douglas & Boozer for Lowry? I have Baron Davis on the bench and I’m low on assists. Here’s my squad in general size order:
Stephen Curry
Toney Douglas
Baron Davis
Marcus Thornton
Paul George
Arron Afflalo
Paul George
Brandon Rush
James Harden
Ryan Anderson
Carlos Boozer
Blake Griffin
Samuel Dalembert
Roy Hibbert
Andrew Bynum
DeAndre Jordan
Any other needs/suggestions?
Thanks.
@EK:
Less: 1 Paul George
@EK:
No way you get Lowry for those 2, unless I’m missing something. Maybe target a cheaper assist guy, like Calderon
@Jeff: Drop Harris before Irving. I’d rearrange my top 20 some, but I wouldn’t drop CP3 too far. He’s still one of the two best fantasy PG to own.
@EK: I kind of agree with Turd. If you CAN swing Boozer and Douglas for Lowry, you should do it as quickly as possible. I’d be surprised if you can pull that off.
Was offered Ibaka and Rose for Chris Paul and Brand. Accept? I sort of need blocks.
What do you think of Rondo for Tyreke and Javale?
@Rob: I dig it. (Full disclosure: I’m a Bulls fan.)
@Jeremy: Too much. I’d rather have the duo.
Second overall!!
Adam, thanks for putting all this work into compiling the overall standings. It’ll be really cool to see how things develop over the course of the season.
Does Jarrett Jack keep it up all yr?
Who are your top 3-5 buy low guys right now you see turning it around?
these sidebar ads are crazy. they’re all like: go get ripped abs, pay off your mortgage, and when your done test drive a camry….. baby steps yo
In a 14 team H2H 9 Category league, I just traded Durant + Teague for Westbrook, injured Eric Gordon, and Marc Gasol. What do you think?
Team make up now is…
PG: Westbrook
SG: Eric Gordon
G: John Wall
SF: Lebron James
PF: DJ White
F: Tyler Hansbrough
C: Marc Gasol
C: Greg Stiemsma
Util: Ty Lawson
Util: Iman Shumpert
Bench: Afflalo
Bench: Marvin Williams
Bench: Gordon Hayward
Next Move? Moving one of my PG + Hansbrough for Lower PG + Reliable C.
Curry’s been made available in my league by his owner, and he’s willing to trade for a discount. Thinking of offering a combo of either Chalmers/G. Henderson or Conley/DeRozan, or some combination thereof.
Is it worth it to take the gamble on Curry (and still have two out of those four guys)?
10 Team H2H 9 Cat. league
PG: Iman Shumpert
SG: Marcus Thornton
SF: Lebron James
PF: Josh Smith
C: LaMarcus Aldridge
G: Paul George
F: Luis Scola
UTIL: David West
UTIL: Andray Blatche
UTIL: Channing Frye
Bench: Lamar Odom
Bench: Jared Dudley
Bench: Amir Johnson
Bench: Aron Afflalo
IR: Manu Ginobli
With a bunch of underacheiving guys my team is struggling. The good news is there are a bunch of decent players on waivers including: Okafor, Stuckey, Dorel Wright, Landry, Marion, Jerebko, Thadeus Young, Ariza, Ramon Sessions and Gary Neal.. Should I rush to add anyone or just leave my team as it is?
Hey Adam.
My team in a 12 team h2h with standard categories is looking like
Rose
Louis Williams
Michael Beasley
Al harrington
Tim Duncan
Spencer Hawes
DeMarcus Cousins
Kemba walker
George Hill
Steve Nash
Jared Dudley
Rajon Rondo
Ramon Sessions
Trevor Ariza
I like to keep a swing spot open generally, but I can’t find who is the most dropworthy person. I like holding Ariza because of his all around production, and george hill and kemba have their moments.
Of this team, who would you think I should be most open to booting?
Buying Byron Mullens?
@Dan: Cool, no problem. What I’m hoping is that everyone in the league will start to see patterns in numbers from week-to-week that they might not otherwise and the whole thing as a whole will e a bit more competitive because of it. We’ll see.
@Tony: Vazquez might chip into his production a bit, but not much. Dorell Wright, Tyreke Evans, Lamar Odom, Baron Davis off the top of my head.
@Lou: Ha!
@Eric: Doing work, Eric. Doin’ work. I actually like this trade. It’s scary giving away a top 2 guy (but you have the other top 2 guy!) and you got great value back for it. Unfortunately, Gordon’s health is a question mark until February, but still. Not bad.
@jimmyz: Yes. Especially if you can get him for Mario and Hendo.
@JeffFromTallahassee: Dudley/Johnson for either of the Hornets, Wright or Stuckey would be a start.
@Will: Dudley, Hill or Sessions.
@ringo: Very hesitantly.
This dude wants to rid himself of Tim Duncan real bad.
Your thoughts on his value?
He’s only hit 30 minutes once this year, and I haven’t been following Pop’s style to see if he’s just saving him for the latter part of the season.
And if I traded Iguodala for LOL, would I have made a mistake?
IT HAS NOT YET HAPPENED
Screw all these stupid questions about what you would. Lets get a mass vote on who has the best team name in the commenter standings
Is starting kemba over elton brand tonight completely insane? kemba’s coming off a good game elton’s coming off an atrocious one, and I need 3′s assists steals and ft%, fg% is more of a reach but in sight as well, boards and blocks pretty much locked up, not winning pts
Sorry to keep doing this Adam, but it’s yet another Hibbert trade question after my Iggy attempt was rejected. Would you offer Hibb to get Ryan Anderson or try and restructure an offer for Iggy?
KYLE LOWRY IS FUCKING ME. no injury updates in the nba is endlessly frustrating…had to vent
update on an earlier trade offer. Was tyreke and javlele for rondo, now is tyreke and javele for rondo and scola. pull the trigger?
@the Real KG: I think the Tim Duncan we’re seeing now is the Tim Duncan we’ll have for the rest of the season. What do you want me to say? Dude’s old. Also, no. I’d prefer Iggy. I think Iggy is the better fantasy option, but Luol may lead the league in minutes this season and that’s never a bad thing for your fantasy team.
@jim: My money’s on “Teach Me How To Gortat.”
@Jeremy: Before the game I would have said start Brand because he’s starting and getting more minutes and right now that’s a better indication of performance than anything else in this screwed up season. I would have been right to tell you that … but not by much.
@Eng: Both Anderson and Hibbert will have their off and on nights where you’ll wish you owned whichever guy it is you don’t actually own. Anderson is a bigger part of whatever it is the Magic are trying to do offensively and he’s stepping up a bit more. Hibbert is just kind of … there. Trying. Doing his best. They’re close, but you can’t argue with Anderson’s results.
@Jeremy: Tell him to leave the money on the nightstand.
@Jeremy: Unless you need blocks, yeah. That one I’d do.
Adam,
Was offered John Wall and Demarcus Cousins for my Blake Griffin and Tony Parker
@Moses: How to put this delicately: EFF NO!
10-team H2H 9-cat standard league, non-keeper
Drop George Hill for Iman Shumpert?
@Sarah Palin Rice: Yes. Quickly.
finally drafted yesterday, thanks for all the offseason help adam, i posted my squad in the forums, Live auction, i think I did alright, coulda been worse!
Is it time to give up on Jordan Crawford?? I’d be picking up Danny Green or Byron Mullens.
@Tony: Nice! I’ll have a better chance to look at it tomorrow. I’ll give you my thoughts over there.
@Mr Duck Fat: Yeah, I don’t like his game at all. Go with Mullens.
Would you rather add Amir Johnson or Byron mullens? Drop kemba or jameer? Need a center otherwise wouldn’t swap either
Adam! My current roster is:
PG: Rubio
PG/SG: Lou Williams
PG/SG: Jamal Crawford
PG/SG: Tyreke Evans
SG: Harden
SF: Lebron
SF/PF: Josh Smith
SF/PF: Galinari
PF: Humphries
PF: Ryan Anderson
PF/C: Speights
C: McGee
C: Chandler
Of Ginobili, Lopez, Randolph, and Baron, who would you add to this squad? I’m leaning towards Baron but I think adding him would be riskier — or as risky as dropping Speights can be — than adding one of the other three. Thoughts?
Adam, in a shallow 10 man nonkeeper league, do you think I should continue to stash Gino? My team has held up so far and I sit atop the standings, though it’s still early on. Some guys on waivers: Stack Jack, Jamal Crawford, Camby, LO, etc. Is Gino worth keeping in such a shallow league? Thanks!
@Jeremy: Ride the hot hands, drop the cold ones (Mullens for Nelson).
@George Costanza: Which Lopez? Robin, Brook or Mario?
@this is dog: If you’re holding up with him still rostered, I’d keep him. He’s better than any of the FAs you named and he doesn’t seem to be hurting you in the standings.
boy do i regret not making that decision last night, already snatched by the time I went t do it today. Center pool is thin! had to settle for jason maxiel…
