Hope we all had a good week of DFS NBA.  Last weekend the article did just ok.  If I remember right, last weekend was weird.  The stud players really didn’t hit value and the value guys didn’t come through.  Let’s not dwell on the past.  Sunday night we have a bigger than normal nine game slate.  Think that has to do with what is going on next Sunday.  I also have a little piece of DFS news linked here.  Good luck in your games and let’s win a little coin.

Point Guards

I like to target Chris Paul in competitive high scoring games.  Looks like we got one against Phoenix.  This game suits his style cause it should be an up and down affair.  The Clippers and Suns are both in the top 5 in offensive efficiency.  CP3 will cost some coin but so does a lot of point guards these days.  He’s an excellent cash game option.

D.J Augustin looks the value play of the day with Brandon Jennings getting injured Saturday night.  He will be highly owned but I wouldn’t recommend fading him in GPP’s.  Think you just have to go with the herd on this one.  D.J. proved last year with the Bulls and earlier this year that he can fill the stat sheet when he gets the minutes.

Patrick Beverley has a dream matchup against  Lakers.  The Lakers give up the most fantasy points to PGs.

As of right now the status if Ty Lawson is unknown.  He was out on Friday because he thought it was ok to drive drunk instead of using all that money he makes to pay for a ride home…  Jameer Nelson filled in and played 42 minutes.  That was good for 23 pts and 7 dimes.

Marcus Smart is out Sunday.  My guess is Evan Turner and Avery Bradley handle the point guard duties.  Careful playing either of these players because Boston plays at Golden St. and they are #1 in defensive efficiency by a large margin against point guards.

Shooting Guards

Eric Bledsoe revenge game against the Clippers.  Back on Dec. 8th he had a monster game of 26 pts, 17 dimes, and 11 boards.  By the numbers it isn’t the greatest matchup against the Clippers but Bledsoe is pretty much matchup proof the way he is playing.

Of course I have to mention Klay Thompson after his awesome performance on Friday.  37 points in the 3rd quarter.  WOW!  Anyway his price around the industry reflects that game.  I don’t think it’s smart to pay an inflated price in cash games, but he makes for a contrarian play in GPP’s because he shouldn’t be highly owned.

Tyreke Evans will continue to run the point with Jrue Holiday out. Reke has a significant size advantage over Rajon Rondo and Dallas gives up the 5th most fantasy points to PG’s. He is a rock solid cash game play.

Don’t get sucked into DeMar DeRozan and his reduced price tag.  He is really struggling with his shot right now.  On a 9-game slate it’s best to look elsewhere.

Eric Gordon has been really good with Jrue Holiday on the shelf.  I usually don’t like rostering him because all he does is score.  Looks like he learned how to pass the ball.  He has had 3 games with 5 assists and a 10 assist game in the past 4 games.

Small Forwards

Matt Barnes has seen more minutes the past 8 games.  The Suns give up the 6th most fantasy points and are 17th in the league in defensive efficiency against SFs.

DeMarre Carroll get to face the Timberwolves team that is last in the league as a team in defensive efficiency and gives up the most fantasy points to SFs.  Now Carroll won’t go nuts because he doesn’t shoot enough but his minutes are solid.  Not a bad mid level option.

Paul Pierce played 30 minutes Saturday night.  If he sits out cause his old bones need rest, Rasual Butler and Otto Porter will see more action.

Power Forwards

I don’t have to tell you how good Anthony Davis.  Play him if you can fit his high salary in.

Brandon Bass was inserted into the lineup two games ago it paid dividends.  Now Kelly Olynyk is out injured, only solidifying Bass’ minutes.  Golden St. is not the greatest of matchups and there is serious blowout potential.  With that said, we do play with a salary cap and his price hasn’t caught up to his recent production.

Patrick Peterson had 14 points,13 boards, and played 30 minutes last game.  Yeah I know it was against a weak ass Philly front court.  He get to face another weak ass front court when the Pistons come to town.  Detroit is 18th in the league in defensive efficiency and gives up the 2nd most fantasy points to PF’s.  If Pat Pat can get 30 minutes again I am thinking we can expect around a point a minute.

If Nene sits out on the 2nd game of a B2B Kris Humphries becomes an option.

If Dwight Howard sits out against the Lakers then Donatas Motiejunas becomes a nice mid level option.  If you want to dig deeper, then Joey Dorsey will see more minutes as well.

Centers

There isn’t much I like at center for a site like DraftKings which doesn’t have multi-position eligibility.  I recommend using power forwards at the center position on sites that offer multi-position eligibility.  I am not seeing any value players I feel confident either.  If you have to play a center then  Marcin Gortat shouldn’t have a problem with the Denver front court that gives up the 5th most fantasy points to centers.  One more option I like is DeAndre Jordan versus the Suns.  Phoenix is last in the league in defensive efficiency against centers.  In two games against the Suns this year Jordan has had 22 points, 32 boards, and 11 blocks.
