…And we’re here!  Finally wrapping up a recap of the top 100 and how much I hated Andre Drummond coming into the year.  It’s not my fault!  He still can’t hit free throws!  Aherm, cough, I think I’m going to miss today’s class with the flu.

So far, and I’m not just saying this for my ego, I think I did the Nation better than I expected.  Sure there were swing-and-misses – I’m not Biff from Back to the Future Part II!  But it’s been a great learning experience recapping my ranks, and our loyal, bearded Slim comes in with his grades.  Rankings are based on my final updated top 200, comparing them to the FantasyPros aggregate Draft Day Rankings along with Basketball Monster’s Total Value for 9-cat leagues on the season.  Slim then recaps JB’s best ranks in the 101-200 range and worst.  Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP!  To keep it unbiased, Slim picked the best 4 and worst 4, so we’ll have to see who he goes with… Here’s a look back at the Top 100 for the 2013-14 Fantasy Basketball Season:

I don't have enough spam, give me the Razzball email newsletter!

So we’re through my top-50 and now getting into the mid-rounds.  We’re taking this through the whole top 100, but some of these are going to be gold and some fool’s gold.  As in, Larry Sanders‘ gold.  If I got to the end of a rainbow and Larry Sanders was there, I’d ask for a refund…

Through the Top 20 and Top 50, I think I’ve done the rankings pretty well.  They tell you towards the end of high school, “the smart ones get the As, but the most successful get Bs.”  I might have made that up since I never studied for virtually anything and got Bs…  But a 3.00 GPA thus far sounds about right!  Rankings are based on my final updated top 200, comparing them to the FantasyPros aggregate Draft Day Rankings along with Basketball Monster’s Total Value for 9-cat leagues on the season.  Slim then grades me.  I asked him, “will you give me As if I show you my double-Ds?”  He then flunked me…  Here’s a look back at the Top 75 for the 2013-14 Fantasy Basketball Season:

More rankings, more “hindsight is 20-20″-ing!  Damn man, seeing LaMarcus Aldridge carve up the Rockets after his huge season is bumming me out – even before I hop into reviewing 21-50!  Get the red marker ready Slim!  Get that F ready!

Just like we reviewed in the Top 20, rankings are based on my final updated top 200, comparing them to the FantasyPros aggregate Draft Day Rankings along with Basketball Monster’s Total Value for 9-cat leagues on the season.  Slim busts out his grading pens and reviews for grammatical correctness and how stringently I followed the assignment.  “What if I stay after class for tutoring!?”  This dialogue and mental image is starting to sound like a low-rent porno.  It’s not like that!  Here’s a look back at the Top 50 for the 2013-14 Fantasy Basketball Season:

Razzball Hoops Nation!  It’s officially the offseason!  Well for fantasy…  And for the Knicks and the Lakers.  And the Pacers!  Haha, sorry matt, just joshin’…

And what better way to look back on the 2013-14 season than to reflect on the rankings.  Those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it!  Dammit, that means I can’t ever rank Ricky Rubio highly again even though I know I’ll want to!

So I reflected back on my ranks, and patted myself on the back or immolated myself on what I was thinking so long ago.  Rankings are based on my final updated top 200 and eesh!  Looking back on these some are rough!  I then compared them to the FantasyPros aggregate Draft Day Rankings along with Basketball Monster’s Total Value for 9-cat leagues for the season.  I had Slim come in and grade each of my picks, and man, he’s a harsh grader!  And unfortunately he doesn’t take too kindly to giant pasty men flashing their teetans at him either, so I got no extra help. Listen, I know a lot of drafts have gone down, but I think we’re still right in the sweet spot of the drafting season.  And while we’re in that sweet spot, why not start up an RCL Hoops league where we need more commishes!  I am putting an embargo on comments unless you start up a league!  Haha – kidding.  But what’s less funny is the curse of my love for Trey Burke, as he’s going to have surgery on his index finger.  “Don’t you point at me!”  “I can’t help it, it’s the cast!”  The original report of him missing 8-12 weeks had him a 100% no bueno in my book, but then he tweeted out (I guess using other fingers) that it should only be 4-6 weeks.  Apparently he’ll be in a splint three weeks and will be reevaluated.  As in – “my fingy still hurty!”  I’m moving Burke way down and taking it as a sign to completely cool off my love for him.  As in Arnold in the last bad Batman movie cool.  “Tonight’s forecast – a freeze is coming in!”  John Lucas III becomes the starting PG it appears in most games and probably needs to be owned in deeper leagues, but I wouldn’t drop someone that good for him. Lucas III didn’t crack the updated rankings because I don’t see season-long impact from him.  Alec Burks could start some games at the point as well, and remains ranked as I think he plays both guard positions and minutes all year.  That is despite a horrible 1-13 shooting performance last night…  The Jazz are also re-evaluating trading for the Bulls’ Marquis Teague in a possible trade.  Then there’s a rumor that free agent Jamaal Tinsley might also get signed.  Sounding more and more like the Jazz PG is going to be a black hole this season.  So I’m avoiding them all, but still holding Burke in 12+ team leagues (like my 1st RCL League) and hoping.  Here’s what else has been going down through the preseason, and a final rankings update:

Please, blog, may I have some more?

The preseason is upon us!  And just like how you don’t put too much stock in Spring Training or the NFL Preseason – there isn’t anything to go too crazy about with what happens in the box scores.  However, some guys do get hurt, hurt guys can show they’re back, and there’s additional news to spruce up everyone’s rankings (my updated top 200 is below and broken down by position in the menu).  But before you scroll down! We really need some RCL commissioners to start up new leagues to show me just how bad my rankings are.  The winner gets their name shaved in my head for god’s sake!  Please don’t make it anything too profane… I don’t want to tell the barber he has to put @$%#% somewhere in my scalp!  Rather than belaboring current events and more RCL pandering, let’s just hop right in:

Please, blog, may I have some more?

Here you have it, folks!  Below you have the entirety of the Razzball top 200, listed by their Yahoo position eligibility (spoiler alert – RCL Basketball might be there!) and my 1/2-a-twitter two-cents on each guy.  As the bartender in The Fifth Element would say, if you do “want some more” shoot your comments/bashing below!  I’ll be updating periodically through the preseason, so if any player moves up or down significantly, I will change their name to green or red so you can track player movement.

Remember that past the 120s or so, you can reach on virtually any of these ranked guys with reckless abandon in standard leagues.  In deeper leagues, I tried to map out about where I would get everyone.  A guy like Archie Goodwin I think has oodles of upside, but is buried in Yahoo and ESPN noodles (aka – their rankings) so I can wait on him in deeper leagues until his rank below, but might take a last-pick flyer on him in medium-depth leagues.  I’ll be breaking each position down every day this week so you have positional cheat sheets, but first here is our rankings:

Please, blog, may I have some more?

And we finally wrap up our big rankings week with Centers, the big men to carry your Boards-n-Blocks, so if Pete says any of these rankings are dead wrong – he knows what he’s doing!  Just as long as he steers clear of my Jonas Valanciunas love – the Luminescent Lithuanian is my call!  Has been since last year!  Every fantasy site has been stealing it from me!

As mentioned before, all Razzball ranks are broken down by Yahoo position eligibility (view all top 200 here), so there won’t be direct positional crossover to other fantasy sites:

Close to wrapping up the positions at PF, there’s a really interesting dynamic looking at my PF ranks.  Sure you can not agree with where I have guys, but I think it’s pretty undeniable there’s a big dropoff from the middle round guys (ending with Zach Randolph, Thaddeus Young and Kenneth Faried) to the deep guys.  As I’ve said before, if drafting on Yahoo the positional scarcity isn’t nearly as big a factor with their position criteria, but if drafting on other fantasy sites, I would be sure to grab one of those top 20ish pure PFs so I’m not stuck with one of the guys in my 30s.

As mentioned before, all Razzball ranks are broken down by Yahoo position eligibility (view all top 200 here), so there won’t be direct positional crossover to other fantasy sites:

Moving through the positions to the 3, SF looks to be deep just like PGs.  You’ve got your elite studs, you mid-level multi-stat gods (looking at you Chandler Parsons and Kawhi Leonard), JB’s crazy sleepers that no one else seems to like (DeMar DeRozan and Gerald Henderson) then old guys that possibly could produce late (pray for Danny Granger‘s knees!).  It’s a nice mixed bag.
