Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

“Whoa JB, two straight titles with ‘Triple Double’ in em.  You get an F for creativity, ya wank!”  Well, I have an F for you troll commenter!  Hard not to talk about trip dubs, especially when you have only two games and with under ten seconds left the dude hurts himself again.  Monster line from Blake Griffin in the loss to the Mavs, putting up 25/10/11/1/1 on 9-23 shooting, with 7-7 FT.  After missing a game with back spasms, Blake was able to suit up and was no worse for the wear.  For 47:51 that is.  Well, except maybe getting posterized by Brandan Wright.  Bias alert!  TNT didn’t show A SINGLE replay of that dunk.  Say whaaaa?!  Anyway, with under 10 seconds left, Blake took an inbounds pass and rolled his ankle on the court with no contact.  They were down six anyway!  Reminds me of Rob Gronkowski on the special teams and breaking his arm on a PAT up like 30 points.  Eh, maybe not the best comparison, but the game was over!  He said his back is ok and his ankle is fine, he’s just clumsy.  “Clumsy Clara!”  We’ll get more updates throughout the day, but if he has some swelling in that ankle or his back is still jacked when he gets up this morning, we might get a DNP.  Which spells terror for title bids coming into the final weekend for standard leagues.  Spells apocalypse.  Which ironically I found hard to spell for the longest while… The horror.  The horror…  Here’s what else I saw last night in NBA action:

Patty Mills – Hot off the barbie!  Big game for Patty hitting five treys for 21/6/1/1/0.  No Manu Ginobili helped the minutes.

Tiago Splitter – Gets the start and gets the Pop treatment.  Only 19 minutes, but did go multi-cat for 2/3/2/1/1.  Really a bad fantasy day across the board for da Spurs.

Serge Ibaka – 11/12/0/1/3.  Looking like a steal where you got him!

Russell Westbrook – A solid game, but sitting out tonight since a back-to-back.  Hey, at least he played on the light schedule night!  Interesting banter yesterday in comments – is he droppable if you’re heading into your last weekend?  I’d be sure your waiver rules are set so he can’t be picked up for Sunday.  And be sure you’re getting three games out of it via streaming that spot – rather than two of waiver fodder over one of Westbrook.  Probably would take one of Russ.

Reggie Jackson – Looked good off the bench, still got 30 minutes, but the volume is still hard to see for me to rank him very good next year.

Caron Butler – While working highlights for this one last night, I yelled “how the hell does Butler have five steals!?”  I yell it again.

Dirk Nowitzki – I like the nickname he pitched to Conan: “The Germinator!”  So many fun ways to take that nickname.  Well, Shawn Kemp is technically the germinator, but that’s the fun!  26/11/1/2/1 with four treys.  A steal of a pick.

Samuel Dalembert – Got manhandled a little bit by DeAndre Jordan, but still a 12/6/1/0/2 game.  And surprisingly sunk 6-6 FTs!  I guess I should’ve had a little more faith coming into this game since no other Mav can do much on DJ, the Haitian was Sensation-ing!  Well, sorta.  Not really.  Was fine.  Satisfying.  The Haitian Satisfaction!

Shawn Marion – I was talking with my buddy, and we decided we both loathe how slapping down on the ball for a strip can be scored a block.  It’s outrageous!  7/9/2/0/3 and one of those “blocks” was definitely a strip.  The last time I got so mad at a strip was when Demi Moore busted out the fakest things I’ve seen this side of a David Blaine magic trick.

Matt Barnes – Shot miserably going 2-9, but still a decent multi-cat of 6/6/2/0/1.  If you have unlimited moves though, I think you can move on from this stream.  Deeper leagues can hold since some of the vets might be donzo (below).

J.J. Redick – Another reason Barnes’ value takes a hit, with Redick getting 24 minutes in his return and shooting labradoodles.  3-10 for 12/2/1/0/0 and a couple of treys, and I don’t see any way he’s valuable unless in very deep leagues.  He’s a bacne-infested Dookie!

Jamal Crawford and Danny Granger – Kum bay ya, my Lord, kum bay ya.  Oh Lord, kum bay ya.

Really nothing too exciting from Thursday, so be sure and hit up any line-up questions you have tonight below!  Since most leagues are H2H and in the Finals, I’m moving to Monday, Wednesday Friday recap posts for the last stretch of the season.  I hope everyone brings home their titles over the weekend and good luck Razzball Nation!

    Yeah Reggie!!!

I imagine we should get a fair amount of ‘who to start today’ questions so I’ll start it off…

I think my must start guys are…
Lillard, Augustin, Burks, Jackson, Tucker, Brewer, Tobias, Hibbert, Adrien, James Anderson.

    That leaves 2 choices among…
RKelly vsDal, Amir vsInd, Felton vsWas, Ross vsInd, Marcus Morris @Por, Adams @Hou, and Gooden @NYK

It looks like FG% and boards should be my least targeted cats. What say ye? I promise I’ll listen to you this time.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Slim: Throwing out Adams and Gooden. Amir being questionable… ehhh I dunno if he plays. Might go Kelly and Felton TBH. Morris is close, but man sub 20 minutes in 4 of 5 now.

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: So I have to play 2 centers apparently… Hibbert is one. Amir, Gooden, or Adams? No Perkins but that doesn’t matter. Gotta play Kelly. Another question I have is Ross vs James Anderson? I’m leaning Anderson but it’s really close.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Slim: I’d prob go Anderson and Amir if playing but I might be too late!

            Slim says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Oops, shoulda played Ross. Oh well, the match could easily still go either way. A strong finish and I’ve got it! I was thinking of designing a virtual trophy but photoshop is not a strength of mine. I’m still thinking about how to go about the REL finale post. I have a few interesting ideas now… Oh and… GO GATORS!

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Slim: if the Gators win I win my money pool, let’s go!

@JB Gilpin: Sigh… Well at least me talking about Kentucky however many months ago that was doesn’t look quite so out of place anymore.

Last day for the REL. Last day for all of my fantasy basketball teams. It’s been a good run.

Still planning on the final REL post on Tuesday?

@Slim: Yeah, my gf in our apt pool had FLA WIS in the final game. I don’t know the standings but if that went down we mighta won. Yup! Teusday will be the REL post I’ll have it go up in the morning

  2. Lasandro says:
    (link)

Wattup JB! Gotta play either Kieff v POR or Asik v OKC.. Whatchu thinkin? Need some O brds and FGMs so obviously happy to start either

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: I’m favoring Markieff. I imagine Asik will be the better offensive rebounder but I doubt he comes close to Markieffs FGM. It’s certainly not an obvious advantage but I think there’s still an advantage for Morris and he should help other categories far more than Asik.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: I think O Reb is probably harder to get so I’d lean Asik, but that’s my take

  3. Big Baby HeyZeus says:

I need to make my last 2 adds of the season, championship on the line. Looking for Saturday plays. The wire is pretty bone dry, the majority of decent plays are listed below:

    Cleveland (Varejao, Delladedova)

    Cheers,
    Big Baby HeyZeus

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Big Baby HeyZeus: I like Bayless vs Phi assuming Avery Bradley is still out. Hinrich vs Mil is another good matchup I like. After that I like James Anderson and Harkless but it feels like there’s more risk with those 2.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Big Baby HeyZeus: Yeah I agree with Slim, guys giving stls assists seem like the priority. 8 steals the past 4 for JB, a few more dimes and steals for Hinrich, I think I’m going Hinrich with a TO prone Wall

      • Big Baby HeyZeus says:

  5. Wutang says:
    (link)

Looks like I’m just gonna stick with my lineup because everyone I have is playing Friday, and at least once again before Sunday – not worth a stream there.

Plannin on dropping DJ, rainbowOladipo, and Harris after their Saturday games for some more streaming – looks like ill need assists, steals and blocks, and hopefully some good FG%.

Anderson is on the top of my list, any other suggestions?
Thinking maybe dalembert for more blocks? Also need assists n steals like I said, but I could blow it open
    Friday night…… Ugh!!!!!

Too bad you guys don’t do weekends…

Suggestions would be great! Love you guys, saved my ass this year – first year in a pool and I blew it up! Let’s take home the title!

Ps ill still probably read everyday next week…….. Love the jokes

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Wutang: Tough to give names without knowing who’s around but Birdman looks like a solid add right now for some blocks. Dalembert is tough to trust but should see his normal amount of playing time @Sac. I’d take that gamble. What happens tonight could change everything though. A few names off the top of my head… McCallum, Collison, Reggie Jackson, Kendall Marshall, Chalmers.

We’ll be around on the weekend, well I’ll be around, I shouldn’t speak for JB without asking him 1st. Just ask in a comment on the most recent post and one of us will see it.

      • Wutang says:
        (link)

@Slim: fair enough, thank you! Pretty shallow league, 10 man but everyone but chalmers was available when you said that. I know how hard it is to give namesn

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Wutang: Thanks man! Yeah I’m always here for weekend comments, maybe a tad slower but still get to everything best I can. Yeah Birdman is giving really consistent blocks, Dalembert is iffy because they might put Dirk on DMC then play small. Hinrich is interesting, plays terrible Bucks then TO prone Wall next two days. Captain Kirk!

      • Wutang says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: i’m more looking at sunday games here now! Thinking J hill is a must-add with kaman and gasol out for sunday.

Possibly looking at aaron brooks? Really looking for blocks, assists, points, steals.

Weird combo I know, but small gaps!

Thinking McCollum as well, as IT looks like he’ll be gone for the season. Maybe Barnes be worth the stream? But i don’t really need his 3’s… down by 10 and not worth chasing.

#occupydraymondgreen fills the cats I need, maybe he’ll have to be the option!

I don’t know why i post these things, I just kinda talk to myself……… you guys are still the man… men… whatever

        • Wutang says:
          (link)

@Wutang: took J hill, no room for bird man.. went with the perceived upside, cross your fingers for me!!

Now I got my choice between 2 G spots (lol) or a G spot (lol again) and a SF spot. So I can take McCallum and Green, or 2 guards… spitball some names! Don’t need 3’s, just assists and points and steals. RJax and Mario are taken already, but it’s still a shallow league. Sunday games only!

          • Slim

            Slim says:
            (link)

@Wutang: Good luck with Hill, there’s no reason to believe it won’t work this time. I’ve lost count how many times I thought he was about to get playing time… I like Draymond but he’s not really the points you’re looking for and the assists could go either way but for steals and blocks there may not be anyone better, available or not. Vs Uta, it’s a good gamble. McCallum is risky, Collison is less, throw in Aaron Brooks and there’s no need to go any deeper. Collison, McCallum, Brooks, for your needs, in that order. If blocks are no longer a target after tonights games then I’m not so sure Green is still you’re guy.

            • Wutang says:
              (link)

@Slim: I know hill is a risk but I think he’ll do more than bird man tomorrow…. I sure hope at least!!!! Damn D’Antoni.. But he doesn’t have a choice, unless he rolls sacre and Kelly!!

I forgot all about Collison! Def a good pickup. I already have cp3 so if Collison gets the garbage time i get all the assists! I’ll probably go Collison right now and spend the next few hours debating, but I don’t think ill get a better pick than mccallum.

Up 7-2 right now! But no chance on holding the 3’s because he has Melo George dirk Lillard tomorrow….. Still nice to see it!

              • JB Gilpin

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Wutang: ohhhh love colly. Like McCallum too I think those would be my picks of the bunch. Let’s get that title!

                • Wutang says:
                  (link)

@JB Gilpin: lookin good so far! I got a full slate due to my streams, and bird man sat so Jordan hill is the auto winner in that choice!!!

Guess well see how the rest of the day goes!

Man I wish I could just sit down and talk fantasy basketball with you guys over beers. Feels like everyone’s friends just from commenting on this site…. Hahahahah

  6. Frank White says:
    (link)

Sup JB… I need a guy for tomorrow and there’s not many games so not many options. Who should I grab, Kyle Singler, Corey Brewer, Zaza Pachulia or Ronny Turiaf ?? I’m close in all categories including FG n FT%

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Frank White: I’m looking at Singler or Brewer. I don’t trust Pachulia and Turiaf is capable of doing some damage to FT%, then again so is Brewer. Singler isn’t special in any one category but he looks like the closest to a 9-cat performer out of the 4. Vs Boston. Looks good to me.

      • Frank White says:
        (link)

        thnx!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Frank White: Totally agree, Singler hits all cats with good %s. Go get em!

  7. TR says:
    (link)

Took a big lead thanks to my clipper and thunder stars!

I’ve got another baseball question! I think I might be addicted to trades…
A guy in my league asked me for goldschmidt so I offered
Goldschmidt, Carl Crawford, Gray, and Teheran for Encarnacion, Strasburg, Bumgarner, and Morse

I got Cabrera so my thought process is I already have one top-tier infielder, why not use the other to help out my pitching

    • TR says:
      (link)

@TR: he’s saying he wants to see if there’s any way he can get Goldy without trading Edwin. I have trumbo who is first base eligible and could pick up Dunn or Carter so I’m gonna try and work with that

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@TR: Nice! Yeah since my main league is a dynasty, I get attached to my guys haha. Yeah I think I like that one, huge pitching upgrade. Ehhhh without Edwin or a top-tier hitter I don’t love it though.

  8. SMLV1 says:
    (link)

Looking for Rebs, Ast, Blks, FG% and FT%…Bench 3.

    Rondo
    Knight
    Dragic
    Hayward
    Parsons
    Matthews
    Favors
    Dieng
    Sims
    Augustin
    Oladipo
    Hibbert
    O’Quinn

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: Hmm. That’s a toughie, all the fringe guys bring good cats. Hibbert and O’Quinn are surprisingly like the same player. So O’Quinn is a tad worse FT shooter so benching him. Then prob Augustin and Sims

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: You know I think Matthews should be benched since he doesn’t really help any of what you’re looking for. I agree with Augustin and O’Quinn but I would play Sims over Wesley. When not looking for points, 3s, or steals.

  9. Mateo says:
    (link)

Tough decision…I need to start 2 because lowrys out. Which 2 should I start between C Brewer, G Henderson or T Ross? Thanks!

Thanks for all the help this year JB

Not sure if you remember but I am Rudacious. I drafted derozan due to your advice. Then flipped him for Kemba in a buy low sell high moment.

I’m in a grudge match in the finals that ends on Sunday. Thanks to all you dudes for taking the time to help. It’s been a fun fun year. Razzball fo life. You guys are comedy.

    I’ll be over on baseball.

    RUDACIOUS OUT!!!!!!

@Rudacious: Nice man! Yup totally remember. Worked out huge! And DeRozan still had a nice year too so the ranking was solid. Glad to have ya, Im on Baseball on Mondays so I’ll see ya over there!

  11. Daniel Bryan says:
    (link)

Hey man! This is my last question for the season and this one is for all the marbles. I only have one add left and I’m going to use it on Sunday. Who do you like more? Anthony Morrow or Aaron Brooks? I’m currently down 4-5 and the closest stats are 3ptm (I’m up by 1) and Pts (He’s up by 6). Or if you have a better suggestion I’m all ears. :)

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Daniel Bryan: Puttin me on the spot! Both very good choices, another 40 mins for Brooks tonight. Sunday vs. Rockets, mmmmmm gimme Brooks. Plus Morrow had a minor injury and I think, while he was hot last night, will assuredly get less minutes and have less upside. Gerald Green get dropped? He’s hot right now and against OKC on Sunday as a possibility. Doubt there’s too many other good ThrAGNOFs past that!

  12. Daniel Bryan says:
    (link)

My opponent has Green. Lucky son of a b*tch picked up Mirza Teletovic for some reason and that bum gets 20pts ang 6 3-pters.

  13. MonkeyBusiness says:
    (link)

I’m in need of points and assists Saturday. Who do you think is the better player to pick up,
Livingston playing Philly or Sessions faceing Toronto?

    Thanks for any pointers!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@MonkeyBusiness: I agree with Slim below I’m going Sessions. Livingston might not get his usual mid 30 minutes in what should be a blowout

  14. Slim

    Slim says:
    (link)

@MonkeyBusiness. Livingston vs Sessions and you are in need of points and assists… I like Sessions. 6 straight games with 40+min. Yes please. 18 points and 6 assists feel like reasonable expectations.

  15. Bi-Felicia says:

Am.I the only one playing in leagues that last until the 16th? All but one of mine are till then.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Bi-Felicia: Probably not but RCL was in Yahoo and Yahoo standard are done. Espn I think goes a bit longer in standard H2h then there’s of course roto till the end

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Bi-Felicia: I prefer to avoid leagues that play the last week. Like football there are just too many healthy DNPs the last week or so of the year due to playoff considerations. It has too much impact on winning.

  16. Lasandro says:
    (link)

Hey mate, I’m an owner of IT2 and Vuc.. What’s your thoughts? If I drop both I’m looking at either Lin, RJax and anyone else available who can give me somewhat similar stats for Thomas, and Sims for Vuc. This thing with vuc has come outta nowhere!!

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

McCallum, Brooks, Roberts and GV are still available too and may be interesting PG pickups

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Yeah K woulda dropped both, sorry if I was late! Was at a baseball game. McCallum and Lin are my favorites of the group there

      • Lasandro says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: thanks man – I actually dropped IT2 for Sims yesterday but JUST missed out on doing so before my first player was locked, so I didn’t get those 5 O brds he produced on the day :( meanwhile, Vuc is still on my roster and I shall be deciding on who to swap him for. McCallum is looking like my prime candidate as IT is out once again today. What erks me is that Malone has stated that he’d still be fine with playing Thomas before season end, if he’s healthy. Also, I’ve been offered Conley for Vuc (this other guy seems more optimistic of the Vuc situation than I do). So as far as strength in pts and assists, with help in brds and stls, who should I go with between Ray, Mikey C and RJax (Russ will still sit that one game out and OKC has a lotta remaining games)? Cheers

Aaron brooks can now be added to this list

@Lasandro: I’d still take Conley for the consistency, I think he delivers most by season’s end. Still over Brooks too. Go get em man!

@JB Gilpin: noted… But did you see a Brooks’ line?!?

@Lasandro: Haha yeah I did, but Lawson could get back in a game or two, and even when Lawson was out before, Brooks kinda disappeared at times. Was a great matchup vs. Rockets with no PBev too!

                (link)

@JB Gilpin: ha you make a good point. So Conley’s 5 game value is gonna be higher than RJax’s 6 games, with a definite 2 games starting? If you think so, I’m gonna pull the trigger

                • Lasandro says:
                  (link)

I’m just in the closest of races in brds, assists, fts and FGMs, hence why it’s rough tossing up between these two. Right now it’s all about overall volume in numbers, as you’d understand. Night from Oz bro..

@Lasandro: Yeah I think so. RJax could easily have some clunkers when not starting the RW resting game. Morning now! Haha

Looking to boost 3pts and assists for Sunday’s match-up. Who is a better streamer, Redick vs LAL or Morrow vs POR?

JB, the time has come my friend. I am up 5-4 right now and shitt is tight. I need to lock this bitch up and I think I need to do it with 3’s and steals. I have two final moves remaining and need to use them wisely. I am up by 8 3’s and 9 steals. I am also only down 4 blocks.

    My roster for Sunday’s final:

    Paul
    George
    Batum
    LBJ
    Ibaka
    Asik
Howard – already said he isnt going to play.

    Best options available:

Birdman, Kelly, Dalembert, Draymond Green, Brooks, Reggie Jackson, Vince Carter, and Mills.

Thanks brother and lets take this thing home!

@Jay: let’s do this my man! I think e 9 steals are a pretty good lock. So I’m guessing the other cats are pretty locked down so I might chase blocks. Then again, Brooks is mighty tempting. More I’m thinking about it, I think I’d wanna lock up assists and steals an everything else, so I’m going with best avail so I’d say Kelly (no Kaman and Gasol it looks like) and Brooks. Birdman is good for maybe 2 blocks, Ibaka has great upside, but I dunno if that’s where I’d chase already up 5-4. But that’s me, hopefully you bring home dat gold!

Hey JB and Slim. hoping to secure some wins this week. All are Standard Yahoo Leagues

League 1: Asik or Jordan Hill, FG% is in play as are rebounds.
League 2: No more moves….Hope Durant can carry me to victory!
League 3: FG% and TOs are in play. I lead by 2 TOs. Rebounds(Lead by 29) Blocks (I lead by 7), Steals (Lead by 14) are also a worry in that order. I’m starting Lillard, Curry, Favors, Zbo, Asik, Butler, and Leonard. He has Harden, Nick Young, Marion, Faried, Miles Plumlee, Paul Millsap, Enes Kanter, Matt Barnes, and Chris Anderson.

Reggie Jackson, Mccollum, and Draymond Green are available. Bazemore and Carrol also.

Last day!! Thanks for all the help. It’s been a great read and great advice. JB, see you on the baseball side! Not sure if Slim is over there though. Might be till next basketball season!

@Zar: Probably too late but here’s how I see it.

      1) Gimme Hill. Asik isn’t too helpful on the FG% with such low attempts and I think the boards are real close.
      2) I’m vs Durant in one league today… Going to take a small miracle to pull off the upset.
      3) 14 steals is a ton. That category is decided. Blocks, boards, FG%, TOs, Draymond Green is my choice.

No imparting fantasy baseball knowledge from me. Well, at least not on the main site. I started writing this year like 2 days before the basketball season started. I had no time to prepare. So that’s what I’m going to be doing during the fantasy baseball season. JB and I have already discussed some of the offseason and next season… No spoilers from me but there could very well be double the content next year.

@Zar: 1) Hmmm, I think Hill too. 2) Let’s go KD! 3) Yeah I wouldn’t want Bazemore for TOs, I like Green too I think. Thanks man! Yup gearing up for my first in season post tomo going to be a busy night. See you over there tomo!

@JB Gilpin: Oh man, thanks for the help, I did exactly what you recommended, I guess I’ve learned? :D I went Hill and Draymond (Maybe cause I am GSW fan, either way it worked) I got 2 out of 3 so far. The KD league..ugh, Bledsoe got a steal in the last minute to tie up the steals category. It is 4-4 now. I’m not sure who will win >< I was 3rd, he was 5th.

Twas a good time! Nice writing by both of you!

Hey JB. basketball Is over for me now so it’s onto baseball. I have Carlos Gonzales, Braun and Carlos Santana and I was offered Miguel Cabrera, Mike Trumbo and Sonny Gray. Thoughts on this?

@NR: he’s new to baseball and doesn’t yet know the gap between Miggy and guys like CarGo and Braun

@NR: @TR: Haha you two…It’s really really close, but I’m hanging onto Braun and CarGo side. It’s a little riskier though, Braun with this thumb thing is a tad scary and CarGo always gets hurt.

I just wanna let you guys know I lost my finals matchup. Thanks for nothing!! just playin’… I’m mad depressed though haha. I lost by 1 assist and tied in steals. CP had a low assist day and Meeks and VC couldn’t muster one measly steal between them. Next year fellas! It just wasn’t in the cards. I’ll be on the baseball grind until fantasy foosball. Thanks for real tho for putting up with my stupid questions.

@The Tristan Thompson Conundrum: Holy shizz man that effing blows to be that close. Almost rather be blown out huh? No such thing as a stupid question! And yup! Baseball is here. Just got my first in-season article done, it’s a mammoth. So much Nate Eovaldi and so little time! Hah
