[Reposting to the top as polls close tonight!  Be sure and submit your votes, and if you’ve already voted – hell, submit em one more time, two more times, a million more times while voting is up!  Let’s win us some Razzies!]

The 3rd Annual Razzies are upon us!  The 2013-14 Razzies and the 2014-15 Razzies were such big successes that we’re in negotiations with TNT for broadcast rights to the 4th Annual Razzies next year.  It’s a flat out bidding war!

Sometimes our only outlet to absolutely-crushing injuries and inept misery in fantasy basketball is to look forward to an award ceremony celebrating the worst of the worst.  The scrubbiest of the scrubs.  The schlubbiest of the schlubs.  This has quickly started to sound like a Yiddish vocal exercise.  You know what they say – the Jews run Hollywood!  Where’s Slim’s pronunciation of C.J. McCollum when you need it!

Our decorated panel has painstakingly put together their nominations for our Razzie categories below, and we went out and interviewed every last one of the nominees for their reactions.  Hey, if we can interview Nick Van Exel, we can do anything!  We rely on YOU Razzball Nation, to vote for each of the categories to lay claim to the most frustrating players/coaches/teams of 2015-16.  Polls will be open until Tuesday night (April 4), so vent your catharsis into the voting booth, which we all know you’re going to have to do for the Presidential election later this year… There’s another worst of the worst!  So vote once, vote several times, vote as much as you’d like, and let’s get pumped to hand out some Razzies next Thursday morning!

Thanks for voting, Razzball Nation!  And the answer to the great question above from Drummo is…. .658!  Yeesh….

Wouldn’t the worst team for fantasy be the Magic??

@Adam: Meh, I mean Vucevic and Oladipo held value for most of the season as top 50 guys. Or oladipo right around there…

@JB Gilpin: The PG, SF, and PF positions were a complete headache though

great year. feels like there were no hilariously bad performances (relative to expectations) like Lance Stephenson last year

i still love the process on choosing “busts” Gobert and Wiggins I’m 100% w you on those guys looking forward, have much faith starting them winning this championship through end of next week and will draft high again next year

difference between the orlando summer league and the NBA lmao…

so in one baseball league I set up starting lineup needing LF CF RF OF to add a bit of a positional constraint in lineup.. this league counts AVG OBP SLG each as a category in addition to the countings.. what are your thoughts on my OFers?

Yelich (LF, CF)- seems to have some name value might look to shop around
    Carlos Gomez (CF)
    DeShields (LF, CF)
    Braun (RF)
Parra (LF, CF, RF)- if he gets off to good start might try to sell to someone needing the OF positional flexibility
W Myers (CF, 1B)- concerned his wrist stuff will be chronic

    thanks!

@dom: Hah yeah there were some bad ones, but not as epicly bad haha. Haha yeah Slim did well on that one 🙂

Lovvvvve Parra this year. I think when/if Braun gets hurt your power might be light in your OF, but otherwise looks pretty good!

allen crabbe with 2 games, doug mcdermott with 2 games, seth curry with 1 game, or hold a move for sunday?

I’m dropping RHJ in need of FT% boost, which would you go for from the above?

Skiles killed me with Elfrid Payton and Tobias Harris at different times. Dwane Casey should be on there though – he might be my runner up to Skiles! Rests Lowry in a 3 game semifinal week, after playing him big minutes every game throughout a 5 game week (which happened to be a bye week for some people, to make matters worse. I guess his best guys get their stats though

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lior: Hah well that is something you could kinda expect or was reported in time, I get less mad at that then Skiles randomly not playing his best guys haha.

      • Lior says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah Skiles has to be the worst. But Casey has become notorious for waiting until the very last second before announcing rest days. Also the whole DeMarre Carroll situation, where the Raps haven’t said much all season. Weird.

        • JB Gilpin

@Lior: RAZZUP MEN?!!! been a while commenting. YUP!!! as a lowry owner in jbs early draft league id have to agree. had a bye in the 1st round. then resting him a game each in the semis and finals. just glad i won my semis and looks like im winning the finals as well. glad valanciunas has stepped up as well going bonkers with 5 and 7 swats with double doubles.

@Lior: @MAC: Razzup man!? Well I feel like that’s not all Casey’s decision either, probably GM weighs in on DNP rest… Def annoying though!

        • MAC says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: yeah, i guess so. anyways, rest is now part of the injury package for sure. also, glad GSW going for the record. got steph in both of my leagues and draymond on one. also, shoutout to my boy KEMBA!!! like steph, had him in both leagues. very under the radar career season. targeted him in the pick 50 range. knowing that FG will go up a ton. with both punt ft teams, getting kemba was a gamble. looking to join 1 of ur leagues again RAZZMAN!!! hook me up!

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@MAC: Yup, glad one team isn’t resting everyone! Kemba was unreal this year, what a season. I was surprised the Hornets record was so good, I don’t track standings too hard. Hah we’ll def have a lot of RCLs again next year, will do my man!

            • MAC says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: yeah man, i think KEMBA should be there in your razzies. considering hes in the 50 plus range and being a top 15-20 value all year. and just missed 1 game all year. LOWRY was also great all year, top 10 value most of the year getting him at 20-30 range. until the semis that is. with FG going down because of the elbow, and a missed game a week, he was still solid in the playoffs.

it was unreal that i have CURRY, LOWRY, WALKER, KNIGHT as my pg in ur early RCL league. looking forward already to next seasons rankings.

    Hey JB /Slim,

Lost in the Semi Finals but going for the Bronze medal this week. I am in a keeper league so looking forward to next year. Any players on WW ,rookies or players not getting playing time this year you see impacting next year? I picked up Normal Powell for that very reason. Had kept Capela whole year and that cost me I think 🙁 Someone like Ezeli is available on the WW right now. If he leaves next year what numbers do you think he would put up?

Also Payne and Exum are available in the WW. What say you guys??

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Blint: Yo! Ah damn, well 3rd is still a solid finish. Ohhhh Ezeli is interesting. He could be kinda like Bismack Biyombo when Bis started. Exum definitely should be scooped up, he’s def a starting PG. Payne might take a few years.

      • Blint says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin: @JB Gilpin:

I dropped Larkin and picked up Exum for next year. My team actually isn’t looking that good for the next year

PG – Toney Douglas, Elfrid Payton,Rubio,Dante Exum

        SG/SF- Avery Bradley,Gordon Hayward,James Harden,Josh Richardson,Draymond Green,Norman Powell,Danilo Gallinari ,

        PF/C- Myles Turner,Thomas Robinson,Gobert, Ed Davis,Capela, Aldridge, Nerlens Noel,Faried,Embiid

I dropped Lavine and Kanter when they were both crap and traded Giannis when he was inconsistent. So many regrets! Thought I got Embid Noel and Aldrige for Giannis which at that time was a good trade.

Anybody else I drop from my team and pick up right now ? My season is done but can make pickups till last day of the season.

        WHEN IS THE NEXT PODCAST!!

      • Blint says:

        @JB Gilpin:

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Blint: Nice! Totally with that move, so much more upside. Oh man, that’s so tough regrets for sure! Ummmm, Davis and T Rob can probably go. Meh, Payne needs Westbrook to go to… I’d look for youth/possible free agents, who are some interesting names avail?

          Hah next Pod on Thursday!

            @JB Gilpin:

Its a deep league so not many interesting players available, .Out of all that are available these are the ones I thought had some value going for next year

There is Eric Gordon, Terrence Jones,
            Michael Kidd Gilchrist, Cody Zeller,
Amir Johnson, Bazemore, Norris Cole, Taj,
            Myers Leonard, Jarett Jack,
            Brandon Wright, Chalmers,Mejri,

    Hi Razzball,

Will most likely make it to the finals of our playoffs which would be the last 2 weeks of the season, there are too many pickups on the wire right now and I’m not sure how to proceed. I still have one add for this week which can help me set up for next week since we’re only allowed 4 adds a week.
My Team: CP3, Draymond, PBev, G. Harris, Richardson, Babbitt, Hollis, RoLo, Jokic, WCS.

Jerami Grant is available, as well as Tucker, N Powell, Frazier, Jerian, and Galloway. Teletovic, Sully, and Bazemore were also dropped and will be available next week. I’m thinking of dropping RoLo for Jerami given that RoLo’s minutes is expected to decrease and Grant has 1 game more til the end of the season. Also which of my players should I stream? Also thinking of picking up Teletovic when he becomes available next week but not sure who to drop. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Larry: Yup I like that move for Grant! Well in the final week virtually everyone is streamable, I’d say any but your top 2 studs could be streamed looking for other stats. Not that I would right away, but it’s def not the time to get married to anyone haha

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@Larry: hope you didnt drop RoLo before last night’s explosion – woah buddy! If your league counts Obrds too, you’re going solo over RoLo. In the privacy of your bedroom, of course.

    Love me the Razzie Season!

Need some assistance. Who do you like for volume efficient scoring between Ajinca and Marv Will, for the next few days? Marv is my fav of the bunch because he brings some versatile stats AND if Batum is indeed gonna miss a game or two, he’ll be better short term. Ajinca seems to be the best bet, but will the Pels start him regulalrly going forward, or is he still in a crappy timeshare with Asik? Plus, the Pels play a juice 4 games in 5 nights (starting against PHI.. mmmm), so I’d be all-in if I can be assured that he’ll start. I don’t see why not!

Will be dropping Mahinmi as he’s not giving me the volume FGs, which I’m needing.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Who doesn’t love awards season?! Yup I like Marvin with that Batum thought in there. No reason to push Batum. I think Ajinca is a little too up and down to fully rely on

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@JB gilpin: or how about Babbit? Think he outscores Marv in the next few? Or his teammate Hamilton? I’m just attracted to the pels playing 4 in 5 nights as opposed to Marv’s 3 games. Love me Marv if batum does indeed miss even one game. But let’s assume he doesn’t

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:

@Lasandro: Yup I do! I like Babbitt the best.

  9. Dirks Digglers says:
    (link)

Razzup JB … update on my punt 3-cat team … back-to-back championship baby! somehow I withstood Steph Curry’s 28 treys this week to win 5-3-1 against the regular season champs … ended up winning one of my punt cats (assists) so am looking to shore up that cat in the off-season and only legitimately punt two cats next year … played the final with a roster costing $64 while his cost $134 in a $100 league … we get to keep 6 of our players and with Draymond’s surge in assists this year I need to capitalise on that cat … looking at keeping Draymond $25, DeAndre $21, Ariza $7 or Covington $4, Crowder $1, Starvin Marvin $1 and PatBev $1 or JR $1 … will dump Gobert $22 back into pool and try to nab a rebounding shot-blocking center for cheap and see if I can pick up an elite PG with that $$$ (Chris Paul would be the ideal fit) … also have the $10 I wasted on Danny Green available as well!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dirks Digglers: Awesome work! Wow, yeah I gotta get on board with punting more methinks… But yeah, getting it down to 2 will help 🙂

Def like Crowder at $1! And yeah, hope you put a Razzie vote in on Danny Green for the cat he was nominated in!

@JB Gilpin: definitely put that vote in!

  10. Dorian S. says:

I’m thinking that maybe Gobert hit his ceiling and he is what he is. Kind of sucks I didn’t trade him when his value was so much higher than it is now, because I had one deal on the table and I was like “aw man, this is so good, but I can’t” and then it was like “he’s not really getting any better”. 🙁 Sigh.

    • Dorian S. says:

@Dorian S.: In my other league that is. I seriously need to stop forgetting to add things in. Geez.

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Dorian S.: It’s possible, i mean you never know with big men. Haha no worries, I would still ride out Gobert rather than trade low though, still has a lot of youth and played all those extra games in FIBA. Needs to sit around like a fatass all summer so he’s fresh for 16-17

  11. Shawn says:

    hey guys
    hope all is well.

    im in a keeper league
its a big league. counts all the rebounding stats.

I have someone who wants to trade me the first pick next season for cousins and bismack.
I have the second overall pick
I know that sounds crazy but im thinking long term.
cousins is amazing, a beast BUT he’s a mess at times.
is giles legit? in the same class via cousins? like one day? i know thats hard to answer but i live in canada and i dont get to watch ANY college stuff. so im at a disadvantage there
giles/tatum would be nice i think .. yet do i really want to give up two monster C’s
id love to hear what u guys think.
    thanks !

@Shawn: Yo! Those are the Duke recruits right? I think before any judgment I wanna see em play some college ball haha. How many are kept year to year? I imagine if it’s a good amount, Cousins could bring in more than the first pick…

just voted on ur razzies though most of it i cant relate. ha!

won both of my leagues, including ur early RCL league. though i did have the top pick on both and got curry. but still, i didnt have both the num 1 ranking in the regular season as i ended 2nd in both leagues despite having 67 and 65 winning percentage respectively. anyways, razzball big part of it and definitely looking forward already for next season.

@JB Gilpin: HAHAHA!!! well, dont wanna do that for xur. injury Gods in fantasy blessed me this year.
anyways, ever got the feeling of getting a player in the wire or free agncy for streaming but hesitated or ignored that player for the fact that you were up against that player in your other league. happened to me in the finals with josh richardson as he was available in one league. still got him but obviously i wasnt too thrilled. hehe

  14. Dante Green says:
    (link)

Jae-bae sup man. So last week I won the consolation ladder, so nobody gets a free buy-in next season. Lol Anyway, I just have a question regarding the teams’ rosters! In 12ers where each team has 13 players, 156 total are being rostered in a league. Where as in 14ers, 182 players in total are being rostered, but in the past two seasons I really enjoyed the 12-team 13-player league. And as early as now, some of my friends told me that they’re bringing in a friend next season so there’s a decent chance my league grows to a 14er! So my question is, would it be OK to reduce the number of players per team from 13 to 11? Making the total rostered players to 154? (Instead of 182) So let’s say I remove 1 utility spot from the active lineup and 1 bench? Or 2 utility spots? The idea is to keep the wire still plentiful of rosterable players. What do you think man?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: What’s good?! Oh awesome, nice work!

Sure thing! That sounds like a good solution to having comparable player pool sizes. It’ll help distribute the best players as well. I think that sounds like fun!

      • Dante Green says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Hah yea! I don’t have to spend money on someone else! Lol

I’d like to bring up another matter though. 14-teamers I think are tricky in terms of how many teams should make the playoffs. If I stick to 6-team playoffs, I run the risk of more teams falling out of contention, that could then result to owners purposely failing to set their lineups (which is the most annoying thing that could ever happen). If we make it an 8-team playoffs, we will have to eliminate the bye week but we get to keep more teams involved. But to me personally, I think I’m sticking to 6-team playoffs! Coz I strongly believe that the top 2 teams should be rewarded a bye week! But what’s your take on this man? Are you in favor of a 6 or an 8-team playoffs in a 14er??

And one last thing, I’m planning on implementing a rule that will require the last place finisher of the regular season to pay an extra free. Yes, a form of punishment! Hah. Fortunately, my league only suffered one incident where an asshole didn’t set his lineup on week 18. Good thing he played a team who, just like him, was already out of the playoff hunt. But what if he was up against a team who’s fighting for a playoff spot? He could’ve definitely given the guy an unfair advantage which would draw the ire of the other teams who are also in the playoff hunt. I won’t tolerate such dick moves on my league next time!

*if 12-teamer, only one team gets punished; if 14-teamer, the bottom 2 gets punished

Your thoughts on my ideas man??

  15. Lasandro says:
    (link)

Inclouding today’s dud, I’d like to vote for Dirk as being a huge FG% drain on my roto team. Since those idiots in the front office rested him against GSW (didn’t sound like Dirk was too keen on it either), he’s been absolutely atrocious! This is clearly Barea’s team going forward.

Speaking of, I dropped JJ to stream Babbitt for the next couple of games. Made sense to do so against PBev’s defense. Man was I wrong! Already put in a claim to grab him in time for the MEM game haha. Hell, I may actually consider dropping Dirk for him because I need some high volume efficient scoring, and Dirk is providing none of that in his last several. Likely will drop Teague for JJ though, as he and the Hawks only play 3 games from Apr 8, as opposed to JJ’s 4. Gotta keep my Pels duo of Babbitt and Ajinca, with their 4 upcoming games against some poor defenses.

I know that whenever DWill recovers, JJ will move back to the bench. But this dude is obviously and NBA starter. I dont care about his age because much of his output doesn’t rely on his athleticism. Sure, he’s quick, but not at an elite level. Some guys just know how to play out there. If he does somehow find himself in a starter’s role next season, I’m all in on him contributing along the lines of how Jack was in Brooklyn earlier this season. Perhaps even better.

Moral of this rant: stop resting players if they don’t have any physical cause for it! Particularly if the dude just scored 85pts in his previous 3 games!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Ugh yeah I needed that GSW game too in REL! It’s not been good, and yes – shockingly yes- it’s JJB team now!

Yup agree hold Pels, and get JJB again. Wow, yeah it’s possible he starts somewhere, but I dunno, no Parsons, Dirk aging… It’s just a great situation that I don’t think he’ll find again, at least early on next yr.

Haha agree, let’s wage ware on this DNP fad!
